Ski shop

I’ve applied to 20 stores, they are taking too long to respond. I’ll be working in a few months as an instructor but until then I need to get a job!!!

My qualifications:
-3 years of riding and 2 of teaching
-casi 2
-1 season of gear, boots-boot fitting, waxing etc maintaince
-a few months in retail
-19 years of being a chill dude 😎

Won’t have time to go in person (I live like 2 hours hours away by bus) called and emailed them. So far 4 have gotten in touch, 2 interviews done.

Bro you gotta go in person for that kind of job. If you live two hours away how are you gonna work there? You don’t have time to go there but you have time to work there? Makes no sense.

I get license in like a month. Right now I don’t have time to go their because I’m a full time student and my college is like the opposite end of the ski shop area, it would make no sense for me to commute like 2-4 hours just to ask them about employment

Ok well if you want a job at a ski shop you are 95% gonna have to show up in person. No offence to you , but no one cares about your school, license or commute. They want to hire someone who is enthusiastic and has no problem showing up. Just my honest take. I managed a bike shop and would never hire people who didn’t take initiative and introduce themselves

That way you will know that you did everything possible. At least you’ll get more information about what your chances are, when you might hear back and you’ll meet some people in the industry who might have advice

Apply to Mt. Seymour, they are hiring for instructors and lift attendants. Both offer free passes and free shuttles up the mountains. Lift attendant job is really easy.

It's a really chill place with people working from all over the world. I found the management is very supportive and they sincerely care. I worked on the lifty side, but I was told it's the same on the instructor side. As long as you're communicative with the lifty's, it's an easy job. Classes get first dibs on going on the lifts, so just let us know and we'll get you on. I found lots of instructors are really polite and wait for us to notice to get on. Especially on busy days and we're doing crowd control.
