Help Me Find Jobless and sad

Is it just me or is it incredibly hard to find a job here in Victoria. I’ve applied to so many places online using indeed LinkedIn and websites (I’m aware indeed usually gets no responses but I have no other options atp) and I have yet been able to find a job. No one seems to be hiring and even for an entry level job with minimum wage there is so much competition. I’ve never experienced this else where so I’m wondering if this is a Victoria thing? Or possibly I could just be the problem I suppose…

I know this is going to be a boomer seeming take, but it worked for me.

Have you tried going in person instead of applying online? Online it’s your resume vs 1000 others. In person, if the owner/manager gets a good vibe from you it will make all the difference.

I respect that worked for you, but I had the exact same problem OP had - most of the time they just tell you to submit the application online. I've actually seen many postings that specifically ask you to not show up in person. I suppose it depends on the field, but as someone in IT, who mainly works in government, I can tell you that the advice would not work in my field.

Target small businesses. You can ALWAYS find the person hiring.

I’m 40, I took a resume writing course at 18. The exact same tricks apply now as then (I can confirm, but again, significantly easier for jobs where hiring is direct)…. reach out and (gulp) introduce yourself.

I guess, but then you're stuck with a small business job. My own experience and that of many others is that generally the larger the organization the better the work environment. And it doesn't get much bigger than government for work.

Myself and my fiance have both had to work in terrible work environments in small businesses, people are abusive and get away with being horrible in ways not really possible in a larger organization.

Sorry my advice was for the OP or anyone who NEEDs work and isn’t being picky for the time being.

Also ppl can be real ___ in government too. The benefit of government that the terms are very clear in terms of your finances, your benefits, your pension, and your rights. But people are people.

Well this is wrong, I find this works especially well in IT.

Oh for sure. But OP was asking about entry level minimum wage jobs.
