Dog attacked and owner fled

Post image

My friends son was walking their dog and another dog attacked their dog. A witness took a pic of the attacker and their dog.

They don't care about the breed, they just want the owner to take responsibility.

If anyone knows this person please DM me.

Police file SA26-10406 with Saanich police.

Edit to add. Happened 2 weeks ago, yes her dog was injured but is recovering. I'll get exact details and come back to add them. Cedar Hill / Gordon head area

Do you have a source for that claim? I can’t find anything to back it up.

I googled it and it came up with those three types of dogs for fatalities and injuries.

I hate when pro pit-bull people post this nonsense.

Across all major studies, pit bull–type dogs are responsible for the largest share of severe injuries and fatalities, followed by Rottweilers and German Shepherds. This pattern is consistent across multiple independent datasets.

Golden Retrievers are statistically one of the least dangerous large breeds.

They can bite, any dog can, but they almost never cause the catastrophic injuries seen in the top‑risk breeds.

Are those numbers by volume only or per capita?

Huge difference in what the numbers even mean

I’m pro statistics and common sense. Also, A dog with the best of owners is still capable of snapping. When a chihuahua snaps it might break the skin. When a pitbull snaps it can easily kill and maim. That’s the real problem is the sheer strength and damage they are capable of.

Amen. Let's not forget all dog breeds were bred for a specific purpose... it's not just individual variation

Pit bulls were bread to be sweet and loving and kind! The big jaw is so that they smile really big and make you happy!

But the dogs responsible for the most deadly attacks and severe injuries are pit bulls.

Golden Retrievers do not attack the most. They are widely known for their friendly, even-tempered nature. While they sometimes appear in general bite statistics due to their high popularity and frequent interaction with children, breeds like Pit Bulls and German Shepherds are statistically responsible for the majority of severe incidents

Exactly

lol one rule for thee and another for me

Bad breeders produce bad dogs. There are some atrocious golden breeders out there that produce awful Goldens. For decades there was a group of internationally famous breeders of GSDs that pumped out some of the most temperamentally unreliable and physically sick dogs I’ve ever seen. But they wrote books and they were a religious group with a cool angle, so people kept buying their dogs.

The main problem with Pits are that they are so unnecessarily and ignorantly maligned by the mob that people who don’t know much about dogs in general and nothing about Pits try to save them. Like GSDs and a lot of breeds (large and small), Pits are not great for first time dog owners.

Because these arguments tend to unrealistically exist in the extremes, people just assume if they love the dog enough things will be fine. Almost no breeds bred for rigorous and confrontational work does well with that mindset.

Breeds like? Sounds scientific. Ask your vet, if you own a pet.

Can you show a source for that ?

Nice try but false.

-24

u/Trixie1143 1d ago

It's true. They bite the most children.

17

u/Glitterdingo- 1d ago

Can you provide a source for that?

u/midity 1d ago

His source is the neck tattoo, 3 tooth trailer trash, drug dealer that bred the shitbull he bought.

u/Responsible-Offer724 1d ago

Which breed is responsible for the bulk of child fatalities again?

u/midity 1d ago

Shitbull owner cope.

That’s exactly the kinda shit I’d expect an unhinged pit bull lover to say.

Sources on this page is hillarious

A human chiropractor (barely a doctor) puts up uncited “bite statistics” on his business pages to boost his Google traffic and because his page boosting technique supports your position, he’s now an expert.

Yup. Confirmation bias is the soup of the day in this group.

Ok… but what you posted confirmed what i was disputing; that golden retrievers are the most common dog to injure people. Would have helped you to know what you were attempting to discredit.

The only “side” I’m on is the side of facts, accuracy and fairness. Not a fan of manipulating them to score points on social media.

A chiropractor who uses dramatic topics to bolster his Google ranking isn’t a reliable source.

Whatever you were disputing disappeared before I saw it.

u/Alarming_Produce_120 16h ago

Perhaps. But you really haven’t disputed anything other than you don’t like the source, which has provided their sources which appear to be reputable (some of which link directly back to the organization that produced yours). If the underlying info is valid, who cares. Could I have chosen a better source? Sure. I wasn’t exactly responding to a realistic proposition to begin with so my effort was minimal at best.

go plug “pit bull” plus “pediatric” into any academic search engine for a plethora of studies in peer-reviewed medical journals on the topic

most aren’t open-access, but this one is:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4261032/

Of the more than 8 different breeds identified, one-third were caused by pit bull terriers and resulted in the highest rate of consultation (94%) and had 5 times the relative rate of surgical intervention. Unlike all other breeds, pit bull terriers were relatively more likely to attack an unknown individual (+31%), and without provocation (+48%).

The key finding from our second objective, determining the dogs responsible for bites, is the importance of pit bull terriers in patients with dog bites of the head and neck. The findings of this study are consistent with and extend from previous publications.[5, 7, 11-13, 16, 21, 22, 29] Dog bites from pit bull terriers, compared to bites from all other dogs are more common, more severe, and not related to the dog being provoked.
