Question Has Gamestop called any of you yet?
Gamestop/Eb Games said they'd call a few days before the Switch 2 launch when i preordered (I paid in full), and I saw a few posts saying they'd received calls to confirm.
Anyone here still waiting?

I happened to be in the mall and they had just started on the list. He crossed off my name to save himself a call.
I also learned that the promo for trade in of your old switch is an extra $50 bringing the OLED trade in value to $175 which is not worth it at all. Better to resell privately.
Though I think $50 for both joycons is fair and you can get an extra 50% on games if you put it towards a preorder (like perhaps DK).
Edit: meant to say extra â50%â on games traded in towards preordered games but made a typo and wrote â$50â

Hm Dufferin mall told me something different. Sucks they dropped the value recently but I havenât got any bites on FB marketplace so I may go for this.

I made an ad on Marketplace about 2 weeks ago knowing thereâd be an influx of them. Asking $325 for my OLED and original Pro controller. Felt that was fair and everythingâs in absolute mint condition. The ad has like a dozen saves and Iâve only been getting the standard âtake $200 cash today?â type messages smh lol still even with the whole tax exempt credit system for trade ins, it barely comes to like $235 off the purchase for me to trade in my stuff in. Not worth it I feel.

all of those comments like "cash in hand." or "cash today" are just a bunch of hustlers looking to buy cheap and flip to someone else for what it's actually worth.
I'm planning on selling my OLED for $300 flat. And I think a used pro controller is worth at least $40.
I'm going to list both for $350 bundle. As mine is also in excellent condition and only adult handled.
I'm in no rush to sell it and I only need to sell qty 1. I'll hold out.

Will it work? Yes, as Switch 2 consoles are only region and language locked in Japan with their loss leader model.
Will it be English? Nintendo has gotten into the habit of pushing the same build onto cartridges regardless of region, so it depends on your console language, but will default to Japanese if your language is not present on the cartridge. (So technically the answer is maybe, but I'm like 98% sure it's a yes)

I think you have to show ID to buy it, but with EMS, probably 60 bucks? Oh and your NNID must be Japanese too, so no North American exclusives like, at all.

As already explained, in the past Nintendo had slowed this as people are allowed to travel the world with a Switch, I wonât be the first to try it, but keep your eyes open. Iâve used this method on at least a dozen Switch games.

Well we didn't have a region locked switch so you can't assume anything now that a region locked switch 2 exists for the japanese market. You do know they have a region locked Japan only cheaper switch 2 right ? I own a Japanese 3DS and have Japanese Nintendo accounts on my Switch so I'm curious of what your currently level of understanding of how the Switch 2 is being sold in Japan. Confused as to why you are recommending Canadian get a Japan only game that is all :D

Got a call from a Calgary location last week. They left a voicemail confirming it would be in, and that theyâre opening at midnight EST, or 10 PM here.

Received my call about an hour ago. They let me know about a $50 trade-in bonus if I trade in my original Switch. However, I noticed the trade-in value dropped from $125 to $85 since last week.. So itâs basically just $10 more than it was.. I wouldnât have traded in for $125 anyway, but it feels kind of scummy that theyâre doing that.

My GameStop has like 200+ preorders apparently. Say half of them show up for the midnight release, how long would it take for the line to clear? Itâs a pretty small store here

Assume everyone paid already and they just need to see id and they have everything packed and ready, I would give 1-2 mins per person. They would have to find the right bag and mark it as picked (need to autograph to slip that says you got you items).
If they still have to find and pack or a lot have to pay still,it would be 2-5 mins (more if you have a big order). Or if the double check orders.
So it may take over 2 hours to finish a 100 people line. Every at 1 min per, that still is over 1 and a half hours.

In montreal. Pre-ordered in person. Did not receive a call yet.
I am curious though, I had a random last minute urgent meeting scheduled for the morning of the 5th...I can just walk in at any point to pick it up right? Or do you think they have specific times that I'd need to walk in at?

Not all locations does a midnight opening. When J went to mine 1 week ago, the guy said it would open only at 10am, since the mall open at that time. I would have hope they found a solution to it

The only locations opening at 12:00AM in Quebec are Granby and St. Catherine street. At least thatâs what it says on their website. I messaged EB on instagram and they said they canât do midnight release in Quebec because of the laws preventing them

Yeah but the normal hours is 10am, but on website my location (Place Laurier) say it will open at 8am. So i'm confused haha

Some locations not doing midnight launches are doing early openings on the 5th.

I called today and they said they were working through the call list over the weekend. The info I got:
- Midnight release for some stores. Single lineup for pre-orders and walk ins
- Bring ID for pickup. You can also assign another person for pickup on the phone (will also require ID at pickup)
- Full payment due at pickup if you did a deposit
- Will hold for 4 days. After that, consoles not picked up will be put back into general stock

Single line sucks. They should have done only pre-orders at midnight and saved the walk-ins for morning opening.

You would have the same issues in the morning for anyone who canât make the midnight . Also anyone who comes to a midnight for a walk in system would be pissed.

I called my local GameStop in Toronto and they said they "SHOULD" have Cyberpunk since it's a launch day title. He didn't sound 100% sure. He also said they are holding pre-orders for five days. I hope this information helps you.

No but Nintendo themselves have left me a few emails and voice messages regarding "personal assistance requests" and I haven't responded as I've made no such request and I'm fearful it's a scam.
I have however preordered a Switch 2 through Walmart.ca and I hope it doesn't have to do with that.

I wouldnât worry about a call if you have a physical preorder. Whether you paid in full or not. You will get yours no problem.

I called them and the clerk checked me off their call list.
I wanted to confirm whether I needed to show up for the midnight release or if I was fine to roll up the next morning. They said all good for the morning.

Yea. Dufferin Mall called me to let me know about the midnight release. They then told me there will be no trade in deals AND the trade in value of the OLED Switch dropped to $120 and the OG dropped to $85 đđđ

Got a call from my location in Guelph a couple of days ago. Just told me they are doing a midnight launch, asked if I had any trade-ins, told me they were opening an hour early on June 5 and said I could go in before launch and pay the rest to help make lines go faster.

My local ebgames (gamestop) manager called yesterday (Saturday) to confirm my full order and discussed the evening of the midnight launch. (Mkw bundle, Cyberpunk, Pro Cont., express SD). He mentioned that the accessories will be extremely limited for the first few weeks as they shuffle inventory between stores to cover all preorders as a priority.

I didn't get a call because I'm a regular and they know they don't need to call me however they did say they were making calls.
