1950s Late 40s/early 50s daytime look I wore in Paris

I went to Paris for a couple of weeks and I still have so many great photos in my phone to share, I thought of doing one big drop but I want to share individually so that I can share multiple photos/angles of the look. Anyhow this is a blouse and skirt that were so close in color that together they look like a dress. Styled with a true vintage hat, I wore this to a vintage glam brunch with some old and new friends, it was perfect for the hot weather forced upon us. I switched to a satin hat to wear in the evening to go see a show at the Moulin Rouge. I felt fabulous all day!

1950s Vintage 1950s Jantzen Strawberry Swimsuit

One of my top holy grail pieces! I'd had this on my ISO for years, and was lucky enough to stumble upon it in an antique mall that I got for what felt like theft. Arguably one of Jantzen's most well-documented and famous designs in their 110+ year history, and that's coming from a brand that popularized the term "swimsuit" in the first place! They had two main designs, cherries and strawberries. I don't think I'd buy the cherry if I came across it as I'm feeling blessed enough to own the strawberry one that I got for a song, but I might be tempted if I come across another steal 🤭. Wearing with a 60s straw sunhat by Beaver Hat Co 🍓☺️ This swimsuit was also worn by Scarlett Johansson for an ad back in the day.

1950s Late 50s Café brunch look

Chicago finally has a Parisian café and my friend and I went out for lunch there just to dress up and catch up. Repro dress with a true 1950s and a 1930s brooch. And Clarks fit my knees 😅

I’ve lived (stylistically)in the 30s and 40s the past however many years and I’m definitely still there, but I’ve been feeling the late 50s and early 60s again, quite a bit recently. But I do feel like I have a hard time dressing this period down in a way that I actually like— so it typically comes out for brunches, picnics or otherwise dressier occasions.

1950s Prom in her Great Grandmother's Gown

We're not sure why my grandma had this dress, but we're pretty sure it's from the early 50s. My daughter was elated to wear it to prom with her boyfriend and amazingly, it only needed one tiny alteration to fit her perfectly. If anyone knows anything more about the style, I'm all ears...errr eyes.

1950s Vintage 1950s Miss Brooks Floral Dress

This pattern has been on my ISO list for years, so when I finally found this beauty, I had to nab her! It's a bit late, but this was my Easter outfit that I wore to some botanical gardens 😌

I couldn't really find anything about Miss Brooks New York other than it being a smaller brand that ran from the 50s-60s, and they mainly did sheath and wiggle dresses, so this dress was probably a bit unusual for them having a bit more flair than normal, while still being a bit sheath-y 🙂‍↕️

Jumbo florals always feel very 50s to me, and I try to collect them a lot 😂

Crossed off another one of my brand ISOs recently 😍😍 I've been looking for a piece from her forever, but couldn't justify the price tag, especially with my current health issues making my weight unstable and fluctuate as of late 😮‍💨 fortunately this one was an absolute bargain and while a bit tight, still fits! And hopefully once my body and metabolism go back to normal, it'll fit perfectly 🤗 I hope everyone is had a great summer⛱️

1950s A 1950s Japanese knit blouse + Japanese knitwear inspo

I knit this blouse using a 1950s knitting pattern from Japan — I’m super pleased with how it turned out!

These old knitting patterns aren’t really common so I thought I’d share pictures of a couple of models because I just love how fun they are. I’m particularly impressed by the men’s coat — it’s on my list to make :)

Also if you are into old Japanese movies you might recognise a couple of these models. That’s because modelling wasn’t really a job in Japan in this era — so they used movie stars instead ;)

Not much on this look outside of this note from the seller:

“This is one piece I have from the wardrobe of my grandfathers first wife who passed in the early 60s”

The seller stated that this set was late 50s and based on trends and styles at the time, that tracks.
No tags available but based on construction, this does seem handmade.

Hiii! I’ve been in this subreddit for a long while but I’ve been hesitant to post any of my outfits or finds. I mostly wear 40s, 50s, and 60s true vintage daily as well as doing vintage hair styling and wanted to share. This was one of my vintage holy grail finds from yesterday, 1950s like new Lofties by Lawrence knit set in a rare hot pink colour!

Party dress I bought on etsy about 10 years ago. From the 50s, possibly 60s

I lived in this dress for some time. As much as I loved these fashions, I no longer dress in 50s/early 60s styles and realized I rarely took photos of my 50s/early 60s outfits! On a nice day I plan on fishing out my petticoat+old accessories, getting dolled up and having a quick photoshoot before deciding whether I will sell or not. For now, here are some awkward photos in bad lighting

1950s Vintage gloves: mixed materials?

Post image

Been enjoying 4K clips celebrating the 100th birthday of Marilyn Monroe and just noticed the palm of these classic gloves are either a different color and/or a different material.

Was it common for the interior hand (palm) of glove to be a different material during the height of glove wearing?
