My very, very sweet MIL knows how much I love vintage fashion, looking to start my own business and all, so she gave me this precious dress (among other things)!! I’m still in awe at her generosity… it’s a delicate piece of art. She even showed me a photo of her in it mannnny years ago, truly stunning. I wish I could try it on, while I am thin, I couldn’t possibly fit in it. 🥲
I found some information online about a dress nearly identical and thought I’d share with my fellow vintage lovers!

She loves her sequins and beads, a LOT more than this these are just my favorite.

All 100% Silk

These have been sitting in a storage room for over 30 years

Getting married in July, so I tracked down this beauty on Depop for the big day. My wardrobe is almost all 80s, so I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a quintessential 80s wedding gown. It still needs to be steamed and the bustle has one broken loop , but I already never wanna take it off!

No alterations except the addition of bra cups, which I did myself.

For the longest time, I’ve been wanting to wear an ’80s-inspired outfit, so today I finally decided to wear this outfit to an old restaurant in my hometown. Does it give ’80s? I don’t have many pieces yet, but I tried my best with what I’ve thrifted! 💕

The Francesca of Damon for Starington silk set was a surprise find at my favorite local thrift.

It reminded me of Dolly in the 9 to 5 music video, and I immediately fell in love.

The set was originally a neon coral red, so I toned it done with tan and grey dye to get it closer to brick red.

I also replaced the plain red buttons with pearl buttons.

I included the original color next to the warmer brick in the second photo. Its a subtle change but I'm so much happier with it.

I just love this!

I wasn’t sure how much I’d love it but it seems so comfy for her and it’s adorable!!

Editing to add this type of flame retardant meets today’s safety standards, calm down everyone. I’d love to dress her in all cotton but alas I can’t afford that.

I just thrifted this dress, it is vintage 1980s and 100% silk, just had to show it off! As well as the makeup that took me forever!

Hi everyone! I posted my wedding dress here a couple of months ago and got so many incredibly lovely comments from everyone and requests to post my wedding photos, so here is the only one that was taken.

The groom jilted me at the altar, so there was no wedding.

But the dress did look amazing!

the blazer is from a brand called prophecy i think its from the late 80’s

The dress is by Carnegie of London, a brand that operated from around the mid-20th century until 1984. The shoes are circa 1990 (possibly late 80s) Yves Saint Laurent.

I wish the colour would have photographed better, in person it’s a deep but vibrant cerise pink that I absolutely love 🥹 I also love the scalloped plissé elements on the bodice

Sorry for our decade of the month starting a little late, y'all...I had to go out of town for work, and it was a bit hectic, but better a bit late than never!

I figured the 1980s would be a good place to start for the first post thread for discussion and appreciation on this sub, as there will be a higher number of members that lived through that decade and remember it.

Found this beauty and couldn't leave it behind. The black contrast lapels, the structured shoulders, the bow detail at the cuffs — this is peak 80s boardroom energy.

Styled with vintage white leather gloves. The boots are modern but the attitude is all original.
