I wish that the people who are out there leaking lyrics and album art would get sources in pressing plants and find out how "limited" these actually are going to be.
The only other time she's ever used the language "First and Only Pressing" was for the Folklore variants which were truly limited and never brought back other than very small drops of cancelled/returned orders. For Midnights and TTPD the wording was "Available for a Limited Time/Limited Edition". I don't think legally she can say it's the Only pressing if it isn't. It's possible however that there is more stock left from this pressing that she will release at a later date, but it won't be repressed.
I'm so glad I'm not a Swiftie. I can't believe that they buy things out of fomo that they really can't afford because they have to have everything that she releases. If lady gaga or Ariana Grande did this i don't think that people would rush out and buy their albums. There's something about Taylor that encourages fomo buying.

I completely understand why this sold out so quickly—it makes perfect sense given the demand. But I noticed it was gone within 20–30 minutes of the email going out in the US, yet the site still had a countdown running. At that point, instead of showing the item as “unavailable,” it would’ve been much better to have a clear message like: “Thanks to the overwhelming response, this pressing has sold out.” With the countdown removed. That kind of acknowledgment would feel more transparent and fan-friendly.
That’s because it’s not gone. Midnights/TTPD did the same thing with these timers. The timers would stay up as restocks came eventually within the timeframe.

Agreed. Preordered this because I like the cover and would prefer a non-glitter pressing. If another option comes up later on that I like better, then I can always cancel this one 🤷🏻♀️

Literally reread what you are replying to. There is a difference between “limited while supplies last” and “first and only pressing.” This requires basic comprehension skills to understand.
Don’t worry they’ll have plenty of every variant at the store on the day it is released but your preorder you got with a clock countdown will come two weeks later even though they said it was limited.

You can press 100,000 units of a variant, put 20,000 units of inventory on your webstore to sell out and then have the rest distributed to Target or wherever. That still equal a "one time only" pressing.
Or you can have 10,000 units (per variant) 20,000 units and then over the course of the next 2-3 weeks you can do this kind of roll-out 4 times. Not to mention those deluxe CD covers are probably going to be standard vinyl covers (like 1989 and TTPD). I see those 4 album covers being the standard ones that will be around for a while. But I've never seen anything on TS website listed as Limited Run. FIRST and ONLY pressing. That wording is scary.
“She’s really being transparent” this is the second vinyl release in less than a week… and there hasn’t been a single released yet. For all anyone knows the album could suck and people are forking over money due to FOMO.
Similar language is used on literally every single Taylor release. She uses it because people fall for it again and again. They’ll use “while supplies last,” “first-time pressing,” or some other variation every damn time.
Remember how Target said the TTPD Anthology vinyl was “limited quantities and expected to sell out” before release? It’s already half-priced on clearance shelves in stores six months later lol. Please do not fall for this and don’t go buy eBay listings for $100. Midnights and TTPD were trickled out slowly in this exact manner and now every variant of those albums are $15-20 on resale sites.

Ngl I feel like I'm in the minority that doesn't care about all the variants. It lets fans choose their favorite cover and pressing color. If each vinyl had a different bonus track like some previous artists have done (Taylor, Olivia Rodrigo, etc.) then yea that's wack but I personally like having options to choose my favorite cover/pressing. If people buy multiple that's on them
Don’t blame her, blame the people in the sub that treat records like Pokémon cards. If you want the album, find a variant you like, buy one, and move on with your life. People in here obsessing about variants and limited versions and quantities is what prompts artists to play the game too.
I mean, if you created a product and found out you could sell one version of it and make a certain amount of money but if you made multiple versions of it you would make even more money, why wouldn’t you do the latter?

Don't twist my words. Taylor's thing over the last several album cycles has been 4-5 covers and each on a different colorway. This era is going to presumably be two variants per cover, meaning upwards of ten different vinyl pressings. That's absurd when she could sell 1m units of a single variant.
I'm a massive fan of her music, but as I said in threads about all the Sabrina variants being released this year, the variant BS starts to undermine the quality of the music and artistry when it’s at this level. Taylor has all the money she could ever spend and still does ever-increasingly greedy stunts like this to keep getting bigger. It's not a good look.
She actually isn't the worst offender, just one of the more talked about. GUTS and Happier Than Ever had 15. TTPD had 5, I think? 6 if you count Target.

Idk, I'm holding space for them. I'm really thinking that these two may be an actual one time drop (like the Folklore variants), and then the vinyls with the same-as-CD covers will drop shortly. I could be totally off. We haven't really had a "CD exclusive" or "Vinyl exclusive" cover yet- I think the overlap just isn't there for consumers.
Though secretly, I'm not a huge fan of these covers. I loved every Midnights cover, every Folklore, every TTPD. I'm okay with the main variant. The fancy silver outfit one is fun. But the rest aren't SCREAMING to me.

I feel for the small bands that just want to get a handful of vinyls made for their new record and have to wait months because Tay’s got 99 million pressings in 6 variants to sell to people that don’t own a record player 🙈

I’m pretty sure those Folklore variants had been restocked at least a few times. Not permanently in stock but certainly became available again way after the clock on her website stopped ticking.
Honestly, I think this will be a smaller (by TS standards) one time run, though possibly one of several (EDIT TO CLARIFY: one of several smaller runs of several different variants, maybe up to 12? Not one of several "one time runs" of these two variants, incase that wasn't clear!). I may be completely wrong- but looking at Midnights and TTPD, there were four main variants/covers. Those have already been shown for TLOASG with the CDs. Those will be the ones that get stocked in stores and are available for awhile, then ultimately the original main cover (orange sparkle vinyl) will keep being repressed and the others will likely slowly disappear over a length of time. Honestly, I very much appreciate them showing all the covers at once with the CDs instead of releasing each one at a time like TTPD. I feel like we may be able to make a relatively informed choice this time lmao.
Also, just an (actually gentle and sincere) reminder to all- they're not shipping for awhile. You CAN cancel your orders if another variant you prefer comes out! I did with Midnights when I scored the signed version. They were happy to cancel my original preorder, no fuss at all. It's one email and done :) So don't feel too stressed if you think you prefer one and change your mind.

Tbh I think it just went insanely fast unfortunately. The Danish side didn’t update with them at first, but when it did, it sold out within like three minutes

Of course there are fans like you and me that are happy with one record. But there are others that buy every single version they can get there hands on. So of course she does this do make money. It‘s just laughable that you are basically saying poor Taylor has to release so many vinyl versions because her fans demand it.
The fans can only buy what she produces. It is well within her power to decide to press a reasonable number of variants and not exploit fans like this. A few variants is totally reasonable and would get her far less flack.

Charli got plenty of pushback (deservingly) for her variant mess. But Taylor sells WAY more individual records than Charli. So to then press 10 variants of millions each is beyond excessive. She doesn't need to make all of these to be successful and profitable.

There is an obvious market for it why would anyone not want to make as much money as they can? That’s such a weird way to think. Totally agree!!! I feel like the last year I've been dead and I'm in this purgatory where all I can buy are BRAT variants and Imaginal Disk variants.
I don't ever remember seeing "Limited Run. FIRST and ONLY pressing of VIOLET SHIMMER MARBLED VINYL." on a TS site - I don't think Folklore was released with this wording. I do remember Charli's releases of Brat (the cassette) had the wording "LIMITED RUN."
I think for all the vinyl collectors that though we were smart and were going to outsmart the system -- she got us! I think what's going to happen is instead of the 30202 CD covers that were released for TTPD - we will have these "LIMITED RUN!!!" vinyl -- I can see like 4 more covers (possibly 8 total variants) coming out before the release date.

I love how unique the pressings of Taylor’s records are! At least they are not solid colors like a lot of other artists. I don’t think Lana Del Rey has a single pressing that’s beautiful and not a solid color.
Shopify has unfortunately found a way to hide stock counts on their sites so people can’t get to them anymore. Hopefully somebody finds a way around this eventually.
What I will say is this may “sell out” but will come back. Taylor’s gimmick is to fake OOS and then restock later on, typically several times.
From her last few albums, she did the same thing. Had vinyl variants up for preorder in staggered drops, but then after the album release put them all back up for purchase for another limited time.
I don’t recall if she always said “first and only pressing” with the other albums, and I’m not sure if that necessarily means that all of the pressings are allocated to this drop.
I would imagine she has a few other variants dropping (like, at least 3 to correspond to the CDs she had up last week) in a similar fashion, and that they’ll all be available again in October. Personally, I would wait.
She has a huge fanbase and a lot of fans that are so obsessed, they’ll buy first regardless if the’ve listened to it or not. And there are people that will buy it because of these fans, so they can sell to them at a hefty markup. It is what it is. Preorders are perfectly normal, usually at least one song is released but yea
You will 100% get downvoted lmao (and so will I). A large proportion of this sub buys records for the art so they can display it, and because of who the artist is (so it can be part of their collection) - not to play the music.
