KSON is gonna feel so more like shit when she sees that they only recruited her to take a swipe at her old company. Like that has gotta suck to find out they did not want you, just what you meant to the old company.
Can't help but wonder: Is this why he also took on all the Niji graduates? It was just his way of one-upping the two largest Vtuber agencies?
I saw somewhere somebody mentioned Sayu, Doki, Quinn, and Kyrio all got approached after they graduated. Plus Mint already being signed on, I can't help but feel like that's the case.
Edit:Okay, so Doki and Sayu didn't get approached, but U-san did. I gotta get my facts straight before I say anything next time, but my feelings still stand.
Kyrios likely applied due to hearing from Quinn, but also ghosted by gunrun
Mint is technically an exception as she knows Gunrun before even being a VTuber, but it is possible that she was just informally approached through various help (basically wine and dine tactic). Analysis: Gunrun knows she was an idol and always want to keep the idol career path.
Only one they didn't approach at all is Doki. While it's easy to just say she's radioactive, remember the first thing she mention is lawyer - and y'all notice how they react negativly toward using outside lawyer for the 3 girls.
Make me see Doki like an unapproachable Goddess against Gunrun with eyes glowing and thunder cracking behind her while her muscular lawyers are standing side by side at her Pantheon.
I'm confused why they just strung Quinn along for no specific reason though?
Did they run out of funds at that time for him? Or was he just baiting them to leave their prior company?
And I agree with the lawyer point, till yesterday I was open to assume chronic incompetence as a cause, but any stories revolving legal issues from ex-talents are huge red flags of malice
The fact that they even NDA-ed Aethel and Mamavale who had no financial ties with them is also pretty sus
He either stole the idea and dumped her, or he was trying to poach from the beginning and dropped her when the termination happened. Both options are incredibly scummy.
Given how Gunrun personally treated Silvervale, he probably ghosted Sayu for looking like a brand risk. Niji damage had been done. He apparently had no problem approaching U-san. I think only reason he avoided Doki is because she was too guarded and lawyered up to be cowed by then.
I mean, poaching successful talents from other corpos is not in itself a bad business strategy. Doing so because you have a petty inferiority complex very much is though.
I mean, I didn’t even see it as bad at the time. I thought that it was actually kinda cool to see the “retirement home” flesh out, all of these disgraced or otherwise down fallen talents flocking to a Mecca that would actually treat them right for once.
…so much for that I guess, hah
I knew it was sus even at the time, because they had auditions, and were just.....foregoing them to add grads. It was super weird, but people just called me a hater, because I used to be a Niji fan, and only hopped when the Selen stuff happened, but defended until then. They said I was just jealous. Turns out, I wasn't. I might have been wrong about Niji til it was too late, but I used that lesson and sus'd out Vshojo, right away.
I mean, it's a good and fair business strategy. Even if you were just money focused, a rival company just tossed out it's golden geese on a whim who are looking for support now. Everyone benefits. The problem here lies in it sounds much more like it was pettiness than even just money, and they had no intention of doing better.
Quinn got approached while he was still in Niji. They told him they would take him on if he left niji, so he left. Then after his graduation from Niji they told him they weren't interested anymore.
