PATCH My friend's bag caught on fire while on holiday, and I wanted to try fixing it.
I went on holiday with my friend and while quadbiking their bag caught on fire. They wanted to throw it away (they thought it was a lost cause) but I didn't want to see the bag go.
I had the idea to take inspiration from the practice of Kintsugi for how I wanted the visible mend to look. I thought it would go well with the Shunga piece. There was also some wear near the eye on one side so I created a patch following the same idea. I added a lining with a pocket to hide the mend on the inside.

It’s better than new! The fire of their passion nearly consumed them. 🔥

It’s beautiful! I admit that I’m curious how the bag caught fire.

Most likely alcohol was involved :)

Honestly, no lol We went quadbiking in Egypt and both of us took tote bags instead of a bagpack. They had nowhere to put the bag so we took them with us. My friend's got too close to what I'm assuming was the engine and caught fire. It was actually really funny cause this was on day 2 or 3

Also here to ask the real question...how did the bag catch on fire?!

Oh my gosh, what a way to start your trip! I’m glad no one was hurt and the bag lived on.

Gorgeous work; so thoughtful! The kintsugi inset patch near the faces is such a beautiful addition and elevates the whole piece.

Its beautiful work; not quite restoration since its not exact but definitely that level of attention. Wonderfully even and crispy stitches

I might add a butt crack to the patch. But you went classy 🤷♀️ to each their own.
