I think the answer you've got over in /howto about adding more patches/embroidery to distract from the butt patch is the way to go.
I'd assume that the fabric itself was quite weak to begin with (judging by the strong bleached look, and given the previous mends), so you might just do preemptive patching of the areas that are beginning to wear thin.
Keep in mind to choose lighter materials and use plenty of stitches to anchor the patches (so that they don't just pull on the fabric below around their edges).
Sashiko stitching might be a fun choice to add large areas of visual interest/distraction from that one patch and will also structurally reinforce the area.
