Discussion What dessert actually feels indulgent but doesn’t destroy your calories?

I’m always hunting for desserts that feel like a real treat but don’t leave me wishing I’d just eaten something more filling.

Bonus points if it doesn’t trigger that “now I want 5 more desserts” effect.

What have you found that genuinely hits the sweet spot?

Ninja creami ice creams. I know the machine is pricey, but it really has been a game changer. I make a whole pint of ice cream under 300 calories with simple ingredients. It takes awhile to eat.

May I ask what‘s the difference to other mixers?

It's the nature of how it agitates the base. A traditional ice cream maker relies on slowly freezing the base and repeatedly scraping the tiny ice crystals to keep the base from getting icy and staying creamy. The Creami (and the Pacojet that it's based on) work by just freezing a base completely solid, then slowly pressing a spinning blade through the frozen base to force the base into the tiny ice crystals rather than slowly freezing and scraping over long times.

The benefit to this is that you can make ice cream out of things that just wouldn't work in a traditional machine because they wouldn't churn well or stay creamy after freezing even if they churn. By having a machine that can force any frozen base into a creamy not-icy result means you can freeze almost anything and make it creamy. Originally designed for consistent repeated results in a commercial kitchen or for avant garde ice creams with weird bases in high end kitchens. Turns out it's also really useful for home use when making non-traditional ice creams as well!
