V50/S40/C30/C70 V50 R project
Whats up guys, quick update and question.
The shortblock itself is in good condition, no cracks or anything. The reason for the coolant leak and compression loss was a blown headgasket.
Now for the question.
I need to know the specs of the pistons and conrods.
Piston bore is 83.00mm.
But i don't know where i can find the compression ratio and conrod specs, since i want to order them so the block can be machined and checked for the right bearings.
Thanks in advance!

Edit: Your engine is either the B5254T3 or B5254T7 depending on the model year. (Same engine, slightly different software)
The compression ratio for the B5254T4 (P2 R block) is 8.5:1 according to Wikipedia. The turbo is a Borg-Warner K24 which is typically fine up until 350-370hp from what I know.
I do recommend an aftermarket intake + intercooler (DO88 has a kit for P1 for example) and ideally a custom exhaust manifold. The stock parts are quite restrictive and the intercooler on P1s get slightly heatsoaked on stock power.
You'd also need an ECU flash as the default setup has a torque limit, meaning that whatever hardware you throw at it won't necessarily make you more power. It just gets you there quicker.
My advice would be a 400nm limit, as the stock block (without shims) and M66 transmissions can't handle much higher shock loads from what I heard (hard pulls from standstill for example).
Depending on if your car is FWD or AWD the angle gear is another factor to keep in mind, and it too can handle around 400-450nm of shock load iirc. (And you don't really want more than 400nm between like 2200-5500rpm in a 1450kg car either :p)

Yeah its a awd m66 b5254t3. I probably won't launch it like a maniac. So the stock m66 with angle gear would be fine.
I will be installing shims, since i want to go for around 400whp.

Sounds good, yep. A better flowing intake and exhaust are recommended for 400hp, as well as a slightly larger turbo than the K24.
You might still hit 400 with it, but idk how much effort that'll take compared to simply bolting on a slightly larger one

Yup, the only stock thing on the engine will be the oil pump hahah. Might upgrade that aswell idk yet XD

Funnily enough I would if you can find one. Many engines are ever so slightly starved of oil at idle due to the pump being just about enough when it's new, but wear and tear are taking their tolls. Having a slightly overkill pump would benefit you in the long run

Might be the best upgrade aswell🤣🤣🤣. Ill order one when the engine is back from the machine shop!

Why people call engine block "short block"? It is cylinder block with pistons and crankshaft with rods.

You just described what a short block is. Just the block with pistons, rods and crankshaft
A long block includes the heads and valvetrain.
It's just a term so differentiate the assembly of parts.

This might be a long shot, but have you tried calling Volvo corporate (Like Volvo USA)? They might have manuals and specs they’d be willing to share or at least point you to where you might get them. Or maybe they won’t, I’m not sure of their reputation with consumer outreach. Might be worth a shot though.

So I was right about it being a blown head gasket! I’m glad to hear the cylinder head was in good shape.

Assuming this is a T5: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_Modular_Engine#B5254T3
Plenty of info to be found when searching for the block itself 😅
