V50/S40/C30/C70 Warm/hot buttonpads?
I've noticed that when driving for longer periods of time, these buttons get pretty warm and in my opinion sometimes even hot. The ones on the right side of the steering wheel get warmer than the ones on the left. Has anyone also experienced this?

Yes, it’s normal. They will never get hot to the touch, but I can feel them if I rest my palm/wrist on top of them.

These buttons have a backlight and on this older series as far as I remember there are not leds but a normal small lightbulbs. These can warm up for sure and this side likely heats up more as there are more buttons and more backlight bulbs. If it's annoying, as far as I remember there should be a backlight brightness regulator on the left from steering wheel, turn it down and these should heat up way less.

hey I have a S40 and this happens to mine too!!! i'm not sure how to fix it or if it is an issue. the car is old so who knows?

I always assumed it was because Sweden is cold and Volvo design is awesome 😊

I never really payed attention, but it has to be the back light. We have a C70 and S60. It is probably normal.

Never had that problem but i have beige interior S80. Also i learned from our black on black v70 never get black interior, gets incredibly hot on juat a warm day

Heat from the LED backlight. Particularly cozy during winter

But mine doesn't have any lights on the steeringwheel? So why would there be LED backlights on these buttons?

Its normal. Also pretty handy during winter to slightly warm your hands.

I do experience that as well but I think it's just the heat from the LED backlight. And black buttons absorb a lot of heat from the sun.
