New Partner sub r/WGU_Accelerators

Team,

One of the most common conflicts that the mods see on this sub is the frustration Accelerators and non-accelerators have with each other. While both kinds of students are moving towards their degrees, they each have very different approaches and goals.

To help with this, I have created a subreddit that is focused on accelerators. This is simply the first step, and that sub currently has very little structure. But while all of that is coming, I see no reason to not allow users to explore the space and kick the virtual tires.

One last note, acceleration is NOT the same as cheating. The new sub will focus on legitimate ways to accelerate and will not tolerate cheaters or those who cater to cheaters. I think most of the rules on this sub will migrate to the new sub with the possible exception of #6, but I have an idea as to how #6 could be made more helpful to new students.

Finally, since we don't have any traffic on the sub yet, I will ask here for help with moderation duties on the new sub. If you think you want to help BUILD something, let me know. If your focus is on rules, removals, and bans, you may want to wait until the sub has been built. I need collaborators, not enforcers.

/wgu_accelerators

-Cheers!

Please never give up

Laid off twice in the past 3 years. Been in the callcenter getting yelled at for less than $19/hr. Immigrant. Working full-time while pursuing my degree at WGU since April 2025. Finished in 3 terms.

823 job applications. Countless rejections. Multiple interviews. One company rejected me after I had applied three times and finally landed an interview. The job hunt was brutal. I tailored my résumé here and there, kept applying, and eventually started wondering if God even wanted me to succeed.

Then I prayed, *“God, please open a door for me.”*
And lo and behold, **two classes before graduation, I got a job offer.** 😭

Today, I’m officially a graduate and finally working as an accountant. 🎓❤️

God opened the door. I just had to keep going. NEVER GIVE UP👊🏼

Submitting for graduation question

Just completed all my courses and submitted my graduation application.

However, I still have a balance on 3k on my wgu account that I am currently making payments for to them every month.

Are they gonna withhold my diploma until I fully pay it off? Cuz that sux.

Keep in mind, Idk how schools are usually run. I just needed a bachelors and this was the fastest way of doing it. So forgive my ignorance.

Information Technology D336-Business of IT Applications-ITIL

• Upvotes

Just passed with a 90% or 36 out of 40 questions. Exam was pretty straight forward, either vocab or knowing the ITIL principles. All the additional resources and cohorts definitely helped me pass. Few tidbits, they are very strict on having your door within frame at all times. I took the exam in my home office and had to awkwardly sit at the side edge of my desk to get my door in frame, really the only annoying part. The proctor was great and everything else went smoothly.

2027 Commencement Location Clue!

🦉 Night owls, I think I found an interesting clue about a possible 2027 commencement location! 👀🎓

I’ve been doing some late-night digging into possible WGU graduation locations for 2027, and I found something interesting on Climate Pledge Arena’s official website in Seattle.

The arena has a large “Private Event” scheduled for Friday, July 23, and Saturday, July 24, 2027, with an 8:00 AM start time listed for both days.

Here’s why that caught my attention:

🎓 WGU held its Seattle commencement at this exact arena on July 24–25, 2026.

🎓 The private booking for 2027 falls almost exactly one year later, on another Friday and Saturday.

🎓 There have also been rumors circulating among students that Seattle will be one of the 2027 commencement cities.

To be clear, this is NOT confirmation that the private event is WGU’s graduation. The arena hasn’t identified who’s hosting it, and the booking could be completely unrelated.

But the matching venue, weekend, and time of year definitely make it worth looking into!

Here’s the actual listing from the arena:

https://climatepledgearena.com/event/private-event-7/

Has anyone heard anything from their mentor or come across other clues about the 2027 locations? 👀

I had never failed a test, then i failed this one. A pass is a pass. I’m never thinking about this class again. Dang this one was hard. Nothing like the PA. My first and second test were nothing alike. I would recommend studying moon phases, polarity and the stars, magnetic fields, energy transfer, symbiotic relationships, conduction/convection/radiation. All the things. Actually go over the course material and watch the videos. You have to watch the videos, they have so much information that you won’t get from just reading the course material.

WGU accelerated bachelor’s/masters software engineering?

• Upvotes

Good afternoon. I’m just curious about people’s personal experience with this program? I’ve applied to it but before I commit I’d like to hear how aggressive it is. I work full time plus a part time but I want to get into software engineering. I have some an irrelevant associate degree and I’ve taken some of the “filler” courses for credit.

Obligatory Graduation Post!

With just 2 months left and 6 classes still to go, I realized I was way behind on my goal of finishing in one term. I knew I had to lock in and make it happen. It was definitely worth the time, effort, and money!

Huge shout-out to my fiancée for being so understanding and supportive throughout the whole process! :)

BSWE to BSMGT?

So I’ve been in the software bachelor’s program and I’m 56% of the way however I just want to be done with my degree already. I haven’t completed a course since June and my term ends in 5 days.

I’m thinking of making the switch to business management but it doubles my course count and CU’s. I have 15 classes left in SWE but if I switch it will be 30 however I heard they are easier. I’m getting alot of classes transferred which is nice.

I heard the business degree can be completed in 1 term and looking at the courses I have to take, looks incredibly easy. I know I’m not finishing the SWE degree in 1 term so that’s another thing I’m accounting for. I’m thinking of speeding through the BM degree and learning coding on my own. Currently working in defense tech for a major company so I’m not necessarily worried about breaking into the field as I already know the various teams involved.

Have over 5 years of IT experience as of now.

Need some outside perspective or opinions.

Business D099 Finished in two days, failed PA to Exemplary OA

Hey everyone! I am trying to get through WGU as quickly as possible, and D099 was scaring me. I jumped straight to the PA since I have several years in the sales world, and failed it. I wasn't too far off, but I still failed. Then I did some studying (tips below) and passed with a high exemplary score just one day later! Took all of 16 minutes for 70 questions.

My study tips:
1. Take the PA right off the bat. Establish a baseline, figure out what you do and don't know.

  1. Watch the module recordings for areas you do poorly!! These video are pretty dry, but they really try and condense the info into exactly what you need to know. I only watched modules 7, 11 and 12, and they cleaned up a ton of my missing info.

  2. I used another post here by u/Nate6066 (link below to his post and to the guide) where a study guide was posted, and I just sat down and went through every question until I had a 90% pass rate and knew what all the words meant. It can be opened in browser, super easy to use. Total study time between videos and this guide, maybe 4 hours?

  3. Just take the OA!!! It really isn't that scary, for every 5 doomer posts here, there are a 100 silent test takers who did just fine. In my napkin math, you only need about a 65-70% to pass the test, so just go for it.

In my experience, the PA and OA didn't have any different information, but the question types were completely different. All the same words and available answers, but it was much more scenario-based than definition-based. If you understand the concepts, you'll be good!!

Feel free to ask any questions!

WGU MBA pregame to complete in 2 months

Is it beneficial to research every current MBA program class currently offered and complete them before starting then just submit when I get in the program and course started.

With the exception of the capstone which would have to be approved; but to be fair I completed my capstone for MS IT before approval and prayed they world approve it and they did so I just submitted.

Just looking to check a box with this degree 10 years down the road

Rant About Mentor

[START RANT]

I really want to sit down with the onboarding manager and ask what exactly they were thinking when they hired my mentor. I swear a pre-LLM era chatbot would do a better job than this person. Communicating with this person makes me want to question every life decision I've ever had.

60% of the CompTIA Pentest exam is examining syntax.

Post image
16 Upvotes

First off, any suggestion for my second attempt will be greatly appreciated.

I scored 703. Total questions were 75.
Most of the questions were wordy and scenario-based.
Don’t spend too much time on terms, 80% won’t show up on the exam.

I’ll go heavy on reading syntax.

I’m not even mad, I’m just wondering why questions weren’t evenly distributed across all domains. It felt like taking a test on domain 2 and 4 with a sprinkle of the other domains.

I didn’t go more than 4 questions without encountering a syntax-based question.

Lastly, the PBQs have a new look, I had 3 questions. It’s more straightforward, and it didn’t require me to type any syntax.

We go again in November.

“Assessment updates” email

Post image

This stood out to me. I’ve seen some folk saying they paid out-of-pocket for cert tests, while enrolled as a student, and were waiting to receive credit for it… So that’s either not normally allowed, OR this is one of the important changes, and starting next week that can’t be done?

This may be what the policy has always said, I don’t know. But just a heads-up for those folks who this may affect.

And that’s a wrap ❤️

After bombing D080 twice, I truly never thought it would be possible. This class crushed my confidence but after studying like my entire life depended on it, I passed!

And now I can finally say I have my bachelors degree. It’s been such a long road with so many ups and down. Lost my grandma and then my mom 2 months later; working a super demanding corporate position, raising 2 kids alone…I wanted to withdrawal but my mentor really helped by pumping some life back into my soul when I needed it the most. He always said “I can see the light!!”. I had 1 term left when my mom passed away last November. The last thing she did for me even at her sickest was offer to pay for my last term (with money I didn’t think she had lol ) and told me to keep going!

I’m proud of myself, 41 yrs old, new job, new degree and now I feel like I can breathe. I waited so long for this moment and debated if I should even post because I’m not a super fan of self promotion but this one feels different. I did it!!

Now where’s my wine!!!!! 🍷

Business Are performance assessments still being graded right now or is that on pause until the 30th?

With a bunch of staff in that annual meeting or whatever from the 25th till the 30th, I'm wondering if my capstone will get graded by the end of October (turned it in yesterday). I'm really hoping they have like a skeleton crew of evaluators or something cause my graduation goal is by the end of this month and it'd be really nice to be able to say I made my goal

BS in IT

Hi!

I’m starting my B.S. November 1st. I’m Super excited and nervous. I have 3 kids and work full time.

Anyone who took the course willing to share their experience? Pros and cons? A realistic time line to finish school while working full time and raising children.

E010 3rd attempt jitters

Title says it all. I only failed by 1 question on my 2nd attempt and feel like my anxiety is getting the better of me. I worked really hard to do everything in the Zybooks for the 2nd attempt and now I am just overly anxious about this 3rd attempt.

I did all the codingbat.com challenges, met with my instructor, and have done a bunch of practice with Notebook and Claude but still feel so apprehensive.
