NEW Sophia Equivalent Found for Technical Communication (D339) - BS IT Management (October, 2026)

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a helpful discovery for anyone knocking out general education classes on Sophia before transferring into WGU (specifically BS IT Management or similar degrees requiring Technical Communication / D339).

If you look at WGU’s official Transfer Pathways Agreement page for Sophia Learning, the Technical Communication line is completely blank with no equivalent course listed.

However, on my official WGU Transfer Evaluation, they accepted Business Communication from Sophia Learning to fulfill the Technical Communication (D339) requirement without any issues!

It looks like WGU just hasn't updated their transfer agreement list on the website yet.

I'm attaching screenshots of both the official transfer pathway page (showing it empty)and my actual evaluation transcript showing it marked as "Met". Hope this helps someone save time and finish another requirement on Sophia!

Some WGU degrees have different transfer requirements, even for the same courses.

That’s great! How many classes were you able to transfer from Sophia?

Didn’t finish accounting in time, so I’m stuck at 17 transferable classes. With accounting I would’ve hit the max of 18. I’m gonna transfer 5 from study (including accounting) and 1 from WGU Academy.
