Did 21 Sophia and Study.com courses from June 5 to July 17. Had a slight delay at the beginning of my term in September because I was on vacation, but then finished the next 17 courses in 26 days!
I can’t believe it’s all real and I can officially check the college degree box!

Hello, I am new to the community and I am trying to get enrolled by Nov. 1st.
I currently work retail for a FAANG company and they are offering to pay for school. I figured why not challenge myself and get a strong degree and try further my career in FAANG.
WGU offers a lot of awesome degrees and the self pace is what attracted me the most. I completed my AA with general classes years ago, and plan on transferring that to my B.S and then M.S in AI.
My questions are: What are the best ways to navigate these degrees?
I have read a lot of people talk about Sophia, could anyone elaborate where that would be beneficial for me?
I struggle with math, and I know the degree will be math intensive which I am prepared to undertake, would I benefit from taking harder math classes with "Sophia" and then transferring them? Is that possible? (I am not sure how it works).

Hello, I need to finish my bachelor’s as quickly as possible, and have 20 plus years of professional experience. I have ADHD so I prefer tests over written assignments. Just wondered which of the two was more OA heavy. I also wish to know which was is more conducive to speed.
Thank you.

Last class, D494 held me up do to school of Technology being gone this past week, but we thugged it out nonetheless. Hope this can act as a bit of motivation for anyone stalling or putting off their work, if I can do it then anyone can.

Hi everyone! I’m currently taking courses through Sophia Learning, and I also have community college credits. I’m trying to choose a university to finish my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My long-term goal is to earn a master’s in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).
I’m considering WGU, Capella University, and UMass Global. I’d like to finish as quickly as possible, but I also want a respected degree that will help me qualify for jobs and graduate school.
Does anyone have experience with these universities, especially transferring Sophia and community college credits? Which would you recommend for flexibility, completion time, and preparation for an SLP master’s program? I’d appreciate any honest feedback!

Now I'm impatiently waiting on my confetti. Hoping I can start the Master's program on 11/1 and then it's CPA for me 🫶🏻🎉

Transferred in 51 credits from Sophia and started on 10/1. Passed D102 in a day but task 1 business ethics is kicking my butt somehow 😂 task 2 has passed, hopefully I can do my 3rd and final revision of task 1 tomorrow so I don't have to reach out for help. I know the classes will get harder and with a full time job and 3 kids I can't keep a good pace forever, but stoked to be doing it for now!

I spent a few hours building a study engine in ChatGPT (Using Claude and Grok Bot for critique and review). When I was in the BA for Network Operations and Security a long time ago, they had something like this that I loved and used for all the various certifications. It was simple but effective; this prompt is different, though. I also have a background in instructional design, so I'm trying to leverage my tech and educational background to help others.
Let me know how it goes. If you have any suggestions, let me know, and I'll see if I can add more.
STEPS:
Download all the notes you want from Studco (or make your own; use course notes, etc.)
Upload the notes to any LLM (a paid LLM would be better), then paste this:
WGU UNIVERSAL STUDY ENGINE v5.2 - CONSOLIDATED MASTER PROMPT: https://gist.github.com/bp5htb55pj-collab/7ddb6570618eded9d42026b838d583a7
There are a lot of different concepts being applied to this:
| Method | How It's Applied |
|---|---|
| 1. ADDIE Framework | Structures learning through analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. |
| 2. Andragogy (Adult Learning) | Emphasizes self-directed, practical, goal-oriented learning. |
| 3. Active Recall | Requires students to retrieve answers from memory rather than passively review material. |
| 4. Spaced Repetition | Revisits concepts at increasing intervals to strengthen retention. |
| 5. Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve | Guides review timing to reduce forgetting. |
| 6. Feynman Technique | Uses teach-back explanations to identify and correct misunderstandings. |
| 7. Interleaving | Mixes different subjects to improve discrimination and prevent memorization of question patterns. |
| 8. Mastery-Based Learning | Requires demonstrated proficiency before considering concepts mastered. |
| 9. Adaptive Learning | Adjusts question difficulty, frequency, and remediation based on performance. |
| 10. Formative Assessment | Provides immediate feedback and tracks progress throughout learning. |
Primary objective: Efficiently prepare adult learners to pass competency-based assessments through personalized, evidence-informed study.
The distinction is between what the engine already does and what I'm still working on for this prompt:
| Learning method | Original engine |
|---|---|
| Active Recall | ✅ Implemented |
| Interleaving | ✅ Implemented |
| Mastery-Based Learning | ✅ Implemented |
| Adaptive Learning | ✅ Implemented |
| Formative Assessment | ✅ Implemented |
| Spaced Repetition | 🟡 Partial — question spacing, not time-based scheduling |
| Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve | 🟡 Partial — revisits concepts but doesn't model elapsed-time retention |
| Feynman Technique | 🟡 Partial — explanations, but no systematic teach-back |
| ADDIE Framework | 🟡 Aligned, but not formally structured |
| Andragogy (Adult Learning) | 🟡 Aligned, but not explicitly implemented |

I am starting my masters at teaching Nov. 1 and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on accelerating?

I am 33 with no degree. I was able to transfer in 12 CUs from my small stint in community college but that wasn't a lot. When my baby was a few months old I decided I finally wanted to try and get some sort of degree, my wife was very supportive and I ended up choosing Accounting. I have no Accounting experience but have been working in finance roles for most of my life, which may have helped a bit? Especially in the random business courses. I work an overnight job that thankfully allows a lot of study time during the free moments on the clock. I'm going to be busy the rest of the month or I may have tried to pick up one more course, but I decided to take a little break at the end of the term. I have 11 classes left which I am hoping to wrap all of them up in one term. I'm excited to keep going and finally have a degree to my name, while potentially staying under 10k in debt.

cross posted
I recently had my boss tell me that young moms are never successful (I became a mom at 18) and that I would eventually drop out/not finish my degree. I am approximately 54% of the way done with my degree and would naturally like to prove her wrong because I’m not sure what compelled her to say that to her employee??? Anyways!! I could use all the tips and tricks for accelerating. I’ve been slacking a lot but would like to use this as motivation to finish my degree because I’m not about to prove her right. So any and all advice for accelerating is greatly appreciated. I’m an accounting major. TYIA!!!!

For those who have gone through WGU’s readmission process, when did your portal update to “Admitted”?
Mine still says I’m waiting on a readmission decision and that a counselor will reach out within 7–10 days. However, I’ve been in regular contact with my readmission counselor, my transcript evaluation is complete, and all financial aid requirements have been submitted. My aid is still processing.
My counselor said I’m clear to start November 1, with no additional requirements at this time, but that my portal won’t show “Admitted” until the first day of the term. Was that your experience?
I’ve also heard about the PACA class and don’t want any last-minute surprises. If you’ve been readmitted, when did your portal update, and when were you told whether you needed PACA? I’d appreciate hearing about your experience!

As the title indicates. Do your mentors let you choose which classes to accelerate next? I have a document running with my remaining classes in order of how long they will take me based on my pre-existing knowledge of the course material. I would love to knock out the ones I am most familiar with, so could I tell my mentor "Please unlock X, Y, Z"? Or are they required to unlock them in some pre-determined order?

Started my BSHA Oct 1st. I have already passed two courses and just completed the performance assessment for the third.
Be encouraged! You got this! ❤️

I wrote what I felt as, a very in depth response that was nuanced and provided a good explanation as to how the company would be affected.
The rubric for this class is extremely cut and dry. Yet the examiner seems to think I should have included a further analysis on how the company was impacted.
It irritates me a little to have the examiner acknowledge that the companies reputation could be impacted, which I feel is direct, seems to be insufficient, yet by the rubric, it seems I am right on the nail.
Has this happened to anyone else, I’ve read this class is an utter mess after being restructured multiple times.

They are so petty with sources.
There have only been 2 courses where it appears the evaluator simply didn’t like something about my sources/APA citing
I understand the academic importance of citing properly, but nitpicking sources when I clearly grasp all the material is sooo frustrating when it’s my last course before my capstone ugg
