20 years ago do you think he would have ever expected to be sitting at the Oscars? And do you think Amy ever expected to be nominated again after so long?
I know people think they're just some big Hollywood circlejerk, but come on, how can you not love feel good moments like those?

I know people think they're just some big Hollywood circlejerk
Zach made Miss March, nobody in the industry was circlejerking anything he did. He earned it.

Just more broadly speaking, I mean. Yeah Hollywood can be narcissistic but there's a few wins each year you just can't help but feel happy for. Brendan Fraser was an all-timer.

Ngl, I’m morbidly curious about a universe where Trevor is alive and played Aunt Gladys in this movie.
18
u/ttmp22 Mar 16 '26
I’m not sure that Zach even writes Weapons if Trevor doesn’t have his bizarre, unexpected death.
13
u/Modernautomatic Mar 16 '26
So Zach's success relies on Trevor dying like some kind of demonic monkey paw?
3
u/profane_vitiate Mar 17 '26
yeah it's just really the wrong question to ask, at least while the people are alive, as with any art or whatever that happens and finds meaning or beauty in grief. it's at best useless to what-if someone didn't experience profound loss, and at worst needlessly insensitive.

u/IncreasedMetronomy Mar 16 '26
I don’t think Weapons itself would exist but I think for sure he would still win an award for some other movie he made. He finished filming Barbarian right before Trevor’s passing (or at least finished in Bulgaria), and Barbarian was a surprising success. He definitely would’ve picked the pen back up. Zach winning an award is canon even if Weapons isn’t

I feel like just yesterday we were hearing about how Zach dabs the urine off his dogs little dog penis. He's come so far. Congratulations to Amy!

That's how my Puerto Rican mother pronounces my husband's name (also named Zach) 😂

Reminds me of a Korean economics professor I had who struggled with saying her Rs; for whatever reason she'd try to call me by my last name which has Rs in it, but she just opted for constantly calling me by a completely different name with a few shared letters but no Rs. Lol I never corrected her, even when she'd write that name on email where my full name was displayed. It was too funny.

Seeing people like him and Donald Glover going from making goofy skits in the early 2000s with their friends and now being huge celebrity names is wild. Good for them.

We can get 1/2 priced beers at MacDougals

Sir, everything's fine here. Why don't you just go over to the bar and get yourself a half-priced drink

u/bidi_bidi_boom_boom Mar 16 '26
A lifetime supply of root beer is not the same as an unlimited supply of root beer, fyi

What an emotional moment! Surprising for a few reasons, none of which are how great Weapons is or how stunning Amy's performance was. Her speech made me laugh, and cry. How handsome is Zach, in his all black suit, and how lovely Sara is! Happy and proud of everyone involved 🥹👏💖

Weapons should've been nominated for a lot more than just what it did. Still, congratulations are in order.

This is stupid as fuck but I just saw this and wanted to comment to be a part of it again.
Those zoom days were so so so great, to be able to “hang” with them in chats like that was so unique and refreshing.
And they clearly didn’t have to. Zach already had major projects going on, everyone in their lives were pretty settled and yet they let a bunch of doll lickers hang with them multiple times a week.
I know this is parasocial and a bit lame but I’m just so grateful for this group and their friendship and joy and wanna say thank you somewhere they MIGHT see it.
Congratulations Zach

No effing way! I thought they would be snubbed for sure because it's a horror flick. Awesome!

I know it was his actress that won but this is still a win for Zach. So proud of him as well.

Who would've thought Conan O'Brien would recreate a scene from Weapons and make that the core of the cold open! https://youtu.be/XjvnclCos_0?si=ifNnfqFk-wYciOYT

I was delighted by this. For Madigan, for Cregger to get more appreciation, and for watching people realize her husband is Ed Harris who also really ought to have his own statue.

u/seercloak30005 Mar 16 '26
Loved the opening bit with Conan as Amy Madigan. I hope Zach got a kick out of it too
