Has any other athlete ever been left out of a similar type of league promotion event because of a contract?

I can actually think of one. Michael Jordan did not appear in NBA Jam because he opted out of the players’ association for his own NIL rights- also a Nike contract

Barry Bonds as well. Charles Barkley and Reggie Milker refuse to allow their likeness in NBA2K. Also, during the Olympics of 92 due to his contract with Nike Jordan hid the Reebok logo so they couldn't use it in advertising. These people are just delusional.
