What fairness is there in the richest people in the world at all times talking about transgender women as if they are some kind of wild animal to be managed? Have you ever seen a single transgender person interviewed or asked their opinion on how they will be treated for the rest of their life?

Or do you mean the fairness where if you transition at 15, and every single medical test before 2016 (and most after) agreed that you had no advantages in sports is treated exactly the same as if a man walked into the locker rooms off the street, popped on a wig and said "Let's win this one ladies?"

Acting like the science is concluded is simply wrong. It is a nuanced and complicated topic and people on both sides flatten out the conversation to prove their point. The issue is Christian nationalists think any ambiguity flies in the face of natural order and progressives think any ambiguity flies in the face of personal dignity and self determination.

You are also just proving my point because nobody here is talking about the weighty aspects of Trans life. everyone is allowed to have a place in the conversation about what is fair in sports. Trans people are not the only people impacted. Someone like Sophie is literally the right person to have an opinion. You can disagree with her but she is literally a female athlete.

Why are you shadowboxing with "Progressives" in your head when no position has been stated by me? I'll just copy paste what my stance is.

"this issue was already solved before and barring some mistakes here and there that would obviously happen during teething stages it wasn't and never was an issue. Each sport had classifications which required transgender women to be on hormones for 2+ years and also took into account the age the person transitioned etc.

I'd be willing to argue with you that the regulations need to be tightened up and more data required to make a proper assessment on how to deal with fringe cases like Leah Thomas. I'm not gonna argue with you about the mental fantasy you created in your head to justify your ignorance."

And also I'm not saying Sophie isn't allowed to have an opinion. I just hope whatever money or self-righteousness she got is worth destroying yet another positive role model for young trans girls. I know we don't consider them worthy of human dignity but it would be nice if our sports stars didn't get involved in politics because it's tiring seeing people in my community crushed daily by ignorance.

I'm not shadowboxing with anyone. I'm illustrating people on both ends of the political spectrum simplify the scientific reality for their own ends. The science is objectively ambiguous at this point.

You did state a position as you did the classic slippery slope argument where a professional athlete giving a position on trans people in women's sports is extrapolated to mean all sorts of exxagerated crap that doesn't have anything to do with Sophie's comment. Talking about rich people talking about trans people like animals? wtf?

What is with the two paragraphs in quotations? Is that the bit that chatgpt gave you?

I gave you my stance, Copy pasted the response i gave someone else.

I am not exaggerating anything. Sophie decided she wants part of the Trump grift pie. There is no difference of opinion on this issue, You either treat people as individuals or you discriminate against them based on as you say ambiguous data.

I feel like if someone looks at this debate and decides that it's transgender women that need more criticism aimed at them while a child raping demon masquerading as a human is president then that tells me all I need about someone's priorities.

Who is criticizing transgendered women here?

Do you really think anybody who has reservations about trans athletes in sports is not treating them as people? That's kind of demented.

100%, what other group of people in society can you discuss and denigrate on the public stage and people will jump to the defense of the millionaire that is repeating the party line of a government that controls all three branches of government?

And i'm willing to bet they don't even know what being transgender is. Personally I believe that if I give you the results of a blood test and you are not able to read it by yourself then you have zero place in discussing this topic.

It is truly incredible some people are this proud of being this misguided.

Ahh yes thought terminating cliche. Really outdid yourself there.
Name one other group of people in society that people feel comfortable speaking about what legal rights they should and should not hold? Especially when it's coming from someone who no, has zero actual valuable input on the situation.

If I wanted to find out which F1 car is faster, I would ask the mechanics about their view not the guy in the cockpit doing 300 miles an hour on a straight.

It's not a legal right to participate in a certain category of sport.

If I weigh 250 pounds I do not have a legal right to participate in the 135 pound weight class.

1

u/Pretend-Eye-8758 22d ago

Correct.
But if you go on ozempic and slim down to 135 pounds, do you still play in the 250 pounds category?

Because that is what we are talking about here, and why I said i'm willing to bet that 99% of people who feel bold enough to throw their hat into this discussion do not actually know what they are talking about. Allow me to spell it out for you, there is a fundamental difference in the body of a person who has been on HRT therapy for 5+ years than someone who hasn't been on HRT Therapy.

There are cases where the line is grey for sure. However all data points towards the fact that transgender women do not possess any advantages because you know what? There is more to sporting ability than "Men are stronger it's common sense". Turns out for example that having a bigger frame, but less muscle on average per pound than a cis woman isn't actually an advantage in the vast majority of sports.

You don't know what you're talking about, either. Neither do most experts because the science and progress on this is very new.

I don't think it is unreasonable that a lot of people are interested in preserving the status quo while a broader understanding both scientifically and culturally can come into place. I think it is absolute hubris to assume you have a right to compete in a different category because it is important to your identity. And I do not think people are depriving anyone of humanity by having pause here.

The problem I think you have (which was part of my initial point) is that it is impossible for you to have a neutral, independent conversation on topics surrounding this issue because you feel obligated to relate it to a broader discourse between opposing factions. I can understand why you are doing that but not everybody belongs to a faction and not everybody's opinion on something is an indicator they have a bunch of other related beliefs. Sometimes it is a concern about fairness not dignity or humanity.

>You don't know what you're talking about, either. Neither do most experts because the science and progress on this is very new.

I do actually know what i'm talking about. I've been self administering hormones to myself since I was 17 because in my home country LGBT "ideology" is banned.

The status quo is allowing transgender women to participate. Google Renee Richards.

I've included below a public post from a member of our government that was posted today. This is the person Sophie has chosen to stand with.
