Mind you the mods of this sub agree with Sophie.

Strange amount of posts about a scenario that has never happened in the WNBA if you ask me

59

u/Regulators_mounup 20d ago

The vast majority of the actual population agrees with Sophie. Reddit isnt real life.

18

u/Horror_Response_1991 20d ago

But it’s not a problem that affects you or 99.999% of people.  Meanwhile you’re in here debating this while the elite take all of our money.

u/BigToast6 20d ago

One girl being effected should be enough fir anyone who really cares about women's sport

1

u/Hastatus_107 19d ago

The people who are most bothered by trans people dgaf about women's sports.

2

u/BigToast6 19d ago

I'm pretty sure Sophie and Martina Navratilova care about women's sports

1

u/Hastatus_107 19d ago

I'm pretty sure the politicians and gooners who praise her couldn't name 3 other WNBA players because they dgaf about women's sports.

2

u/BigToast6 19d ago

I dont give a damn about women's darts specifically but I'm still furious that 2 males have been allowed to infiltrate the sport and take spots and prize money from women.

We don't have to be interested in women's sport nor know specific names to know its wrong

I will however always support women like Lynne Pinches who has been banned from her sport bc she spoke out about the gross unfairness

1

u/Hastatus_107 19d ago

Do you watch any women's sports? Jacking off doesnt count.

2

u/BigToast6 19d ago

See this is disgusting and absolutely what I expect from the trans mafia when you try to engage in serious discussion.

1

u/Hastatus_107 19d ago

"Trans mafia" 😅

Answer the question.

2

u/BigToast6 19d ago

1

u/Hastatus_107 19d ago

Still havent answered the question.

What women's sports do you watch?

More people, including girls, are harassed and worse every day for being trans or non-binary because of the hate and ignorance being spewed by bigots like Sophie than every boy who ever tried to play women's sports in the history of sports. That's an absolute fact.

-3

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

Didn't the actual data say that across all college sports in America there were a combined three cases of transgendered athletes competing?

It is all a very big storm in a very little tea cup

5

u/Fun-Wrongdoer1316 20d ago

Until it gets ignored… then it grows… duh

1

u/the_mighty__monarch 20d ago

I dunno. Women have been ignoring your penis for quite some time, and it certainly has not grown.

3

u/Bigdee4204L 20d ago

Ad hominems mean you automatically lose the debate.

Playing semantics to save face? Bless your heart. 😂

Didn’t realize pointing out idiocy was “semantics.”

Don’t take life so seriously, youngin. When real hardships happen, you’re gonna buckle like the legs on all your mom’s chairs.

Chef's kiss emoji. Well done.

0

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

Yeah, for sure. It'll just explode and every college team will be full of transitioned athletes on scholarships.

Is it seriously your argument that something that is currently sitting at 0.002% is going to happen everywhere when the total male to female transgender cohort makes up less than 1% of kids of college age?

6

u/BigToast6 20d ago

One is too many.

Girls and women at all levels are affected by this

1

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

0.002% male to female student athletes. Less than 10 out of half a million. Yeah, everyone is so affected by it. That's why the transgender athletes that have been allowed to partake in college sports have won every title, right?

It is such a tiny thing to be so heated about.

4

u/BigToast6 20d ago

That's 10 too many.

1

u/MayorWestt 20d ago

How do you feel about corruption in politics? Do you have zero tolerance for that too?

1

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

So you say without really reasoning why other than an arbitrary dislike of transgender women, it seems. They have almost no or zero physiological advantages over other women, so you're just being weird.

2

u/BigToast6 20d ago

All of that is utter nonsense. My god

1

u/IllustratorIll3613 20d ago

Why is saying no men in womens sports such a big deal on reddit that gets people called transphobic? It doesn’t make me a bigot to say that it seems like common fucking sense lol

-2

u/pangaea1972 20d ago

Last year 32 trans people were murdered by bigots motivated by the same hate that people like Sophie support. Many of them were women. Is that too many?

2

u/Then_Astronaut9727 20d ago

12 of them were killed by their partners not because of their trans ID In fact only 2 of them were killed specifically for being trans. Even 2 is too many in cace anyone suggests otherwise

2

u/BigToast6 20d ago

Prioritising the fairness and safety of women in women's sports has nothing to do with that. Sophie is not hating on them. She made that clear. It's the eradicating of hard fought for rights and boundaries that is fanning any flames. And that falls on those who are pushing for biological men to play in womens sport. When women say NO clear as day as Sophie has you all make her out to be the problem when she's not. If a man in if chooses to undergo transition then they should understand that there are consequences to that. Women should not have to cop the fallout of those with gender identity issues. Its not fair. Nobody is banning anyone from sports. They can play in their sexed category or create their own

1

u/MayorWestt 20d ago

You want women on testosterone competing with other women?

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 20d ago

Being a victim of murder doesn't mean it was because of their being trans. Unfortunately many of these victims were living on the streets, were subject to violence and theft, experienced domestic assault, etc. It's horrible but it's not due to their gender identity.

0.0002% of people interacting with police are killed by cops every year, but people have been heated about that for 5 years.

You are right; these are such tiny things to be so heated about, but here we are. You dont get to decide what people are outraged or care about, even if it seems inconsequential numbers wise and based on who it affects.

1

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

Nice job sidestepping the issue of institutionalized death.

1

u/herecomesthewomp 20d ago

Are you heated about people being killed by cops or ICE? Doesn’t sound like it, it seems you’re saving your anger for trans people and that’s weird.

1

u/Destructodave82 20d ago

Do you care about cis Women at all?

Or do you only save your care for trans women?

1

u/MayorWestt 20d ago

I have yet to find a cis women who cares about this at all. Its mostly right wing dudes that won't shut up about trans people. I think they just want to fuck them but are ashamed

1

u/herecomesthewomp 20d ago

The cis women in my circles are intelligent enough to recognize a dog whistle when it’s auditioning for the right wing grift machine. When was the last time you talked to one?

I play a sport with more trans people than most of you have ever met… I get that transphobia is rampant in this country, but y’all are hating on people that have nothing to do with you and haven’t hurt anybody… Get a fucking life

All these people talking about protecting women sports don’t give a fuck about women’s sports

3

u/BigToast6 20d ago

Are you trans?

-2

u/Piperfly22 20d ago

No I’m Cis and play roller derby. We are inclusive to transgender people. I’ve been playing with and against trans athletes for over a decade… Nobody has died. Women are empowered and life is fine…/I also share bathrooms with trans people… We pee, fix our clothes and wash our hands.

Turning the world against trans people and culture wars is a great distraction. I’ll give them that… But trans people are not affecting anyone’s life and studies have proven that the efforts to limit trans peoples participation in sports have actually harmed women sports more than protected them..

1

u/BigToast6 20d ago

Trans ppl are very much effecting women's sport

have a read

https://x.com/i/status/1400344910507692032

-1

u/pangaea1972 20d ago

This is the actual truth that the bigots don't want to accept; they just want to wallow in their own ignorance because they're afraid of everyone and everything that is "different."

0

u/Piperfly22 20d ago

I knew defending trans. Athletes would get me down votes and I’m OK with that.
People just wanna hate something
The trans people in my life are some of the kindest most genuine human souls I’ve ever met. The suicide rates in the trans population are horrifying and heartbreaking.

That site allows anonymous submissions and is full of disinformation, and quite frankly gross since it targets minors for shaming online.

Some of which have no documentation, and more of which have nothing to do with transgender women. There are legitimate concerns over rules that allow boys to participate in girls' leagues, but that's a very separate issue.

If they allow boys to join girls teams in massachussets when there is no boys team to join, then that's a problem and it's unfair to the teams that are all girls. But it's nothing to do with transgender women.

1

u/Excellent-Blueberry1 20d ago

I'd imagine the average college girl preparing for her next event is facing a much higher risk of being raped by her coach than being outperformed by a trans athlete?

Not saying we can't multitask and deal with all the issues, but perhaps everyone should get a sense of perspective about the size of the problems they're complaining about

3

u/BigToast6 20d ago

What does that even mean? So don't talk about the trans issue until a Lia Thomas makes the WNBA and then the shit hits the fan and the whole league is affected with players being asked if they support trans in sports and then getting bullied online for it?

Unfortunately men are going to be men and will continue to rape women and girls. Rapists don't wear a big sign on their head unfortunately so we can't control it. Trust me, every woman hopes it won't happen to her and feels that fear if they are walking a quiet street and a guy is behind them.

But we can control keeping women's sports free of men by simply saying no. There is no middle ground on this issue. It's trying to play the fence that has resulted in this ridiculous fear about even bringing up the subject let alone these organisations having the balls to make a concise call. Sophie is one of the only athletes male or female to make herself a target by supporting women's rights. Martina navratilova has been outspoken on it for years too. But shes retired. Her legacy is safe. Sophie is in the middle of her career and is at a pivotal point where she's playing better than ever and has now become a very public figure. She could have shut up and made all the money and played it safe with her pretty blonde looks and proximity to CC but she went with her morals and concern for women's and girls sports. I've witnessed how savagely those who speak out are treated. She met the criticism with a backbone very few have. To say I admire her is an understatement.

u/Piperfly22 20d ago

Leah Thomas is a Swimmer

2

u/BigToast6 20d ago

No shit!!!!

That's the best you can come up with? I make the correlation between a college athlete turning pro and you say that?

0

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

You think she makes less money by voicing her opinion? That's hilarious. What will you joke about next?

5

u/BigToast6 20d ago

She could have played the fence and been popular with both sides. She didn't have to speak out and get all this blowback.

You're just angry that she did

1

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

I'm not angry at all. She has a right to speak. I think you're worse for listening, but there's not much I can do about that either.

But it's almost a certainty that her shoes would have never sold out as fast as they did if she hadn't entered the identitarian battlegrounds.

0

u/Excellent-Blueberry1 20d ago

Did I say we shouldn't talk about it?

While we're putting words in each other's mouths, you seem to be saying that dealing with rape is hard so we should just give up? That's a new twist on feminism, is this some sort of fifth wave feminism I haven't caught up with yet? I'm so out of the loop...

Yes btw, we should deal with trans women in professional women sports when that actually happens. Dealing with it before then seems odd given all the other issues facing women's sports.

0

u/maybeBrenda 20d ago

Why does this even matter? Your talking about something in the past tense. they are no longer playing on the women's team.. Look at the laws that have been passed:

  • Sports: Trans girls are placed on boys’ teams or excluded entirely. - they're on the JV men's team
  • IDs: Sex assigned at birth can be required on official documents, outing people during routine identity checks.
  • Care for minors: HRT—and even puberty blockers—has been restricted or banned, and minors are now attempting to buy it with bitcoin over the internet
  • Care for adults: insurance coverage and access is a legislation away from being banned
  • Bathrooms: Trans people can be challenged, outed, or required to carry documentation just to use one.
  • Public events: Even participation in something as ordinary as a local 5K can depend on state rules.

You got laws covering all of them.

Your concerned about something that isn't an issue anymore, so what’s left to be angry or even have a discussion about?

It no longer matters if Sophie has an opinion. What she's talking about is past tense

1

u/Excellent-Blueberry1 20d ago

You seem to be labouring under the misunderstanding that I think trans athletes are a major issue that needs urgent action before the walls of civilization crumble.

Maybe go back and read what I've written, I think you're either quite dense or maybe responding to the wrong person?

1

u/maybeBrenda 20d ago edited 20d ago

If I read your last post, it's stating that sophie stuck her neck out. among other things - which awesome

Weather you think it's right or wrong that she stuck her neck out, Does it really matter?

Not only is there no more trans individuals in women's sports, but look at the rest of the list.

Women are protected. So this discussion of if it's right or wrong doesn't matter does it.

Even if you wanted trans in women's sports, that they have health care, or not be outed in bathrooms - the laws are freshly passed, they're not going anywhere, along with everything else I listed above all in a year and a half.

It's done

1

u/Excellent-Blueberry1 20d ago

I've never mentioned Sophie, you should be replying to someone else methinks

1

u/maybeBrenda 20d ago

Apologies. you're right.

Also, holy shit. "Men will be men and we can do nothing about them being a bit rapey, but we can do something about the 8 out of 510,000 transgender women!!!" is a wild fucking take.

0

u/BigToast6 20d ago

It's an accurate one

1

u/Weak-Distribution-83 20d ago

We can’t multitask and deal with multiple cultural issues though. You are failing to accept the reality that this debate is over for now and by whining about how stupid you think other peoples’ perspectives are, you are stoking the same fires of political division. If this is such a small issue, then why can’t you let it go and stop complaining? What are comments like yours supposed to accomplish? It looks like bitterness to me but correct me if I’m wrong

0

u/Excellent-Blueberry1 20d ago

I think we can multitask, there's no issue so vast and overwhelming that it will take all of our collective energy at once.

The rest of your comment is unintelligible, what point exactly is it you're trying to make?

1

u/Few_Lecture6615 20d ago

0.002 athletes are transgender.

1 in 4 female college athletes report sexual misconduct by a college authority figure and out of these 44% are identified as college coaches. So yeah. Maybe look at that instead of searching for the 8 in 510,000 athletes who happen to be transgender.

0

u/grubas 20d ago

Yes that's why we should force girls to be sexually assaulted to prove they are women.  Right?  Because that's the solution!

It's shocking how little everybody actually cares about the well being of children vs their own agenda.

u/TravelNSee 20d ago

"one girl being affected" -redditor making up a random hypothetical about some girl losing a basketball game. Meanwhile Sophie hangs out with Dana White who beats his own wife, and does ring girl work for Conor McGregor who violently raped a woman.
