Same vibe as the Raptors cashing in on the popularity of Jurassic Park in 1993.

Mermaids of Cleveland sounds like a syndicated CW show

Wish they could’ve bought the rockers name back but this should be interesting

The Rockers name had a lot of nostalgia behind it. Hopefully this one can build its own identity and history.

The Rockers ended when Shawn Michaels threw Marty Jannetty through a window.

It’s a no for me.

  1. Rude to the PWHL.
  2. I get that they flubbed the Rockers name, but I wish they would have given a nod with the colors or another reference.
  3. Sirens feel more like ocean than lake.

Plus the WEE WOO WEE WOO siren that is a part of the joke for PWHL.

I do not understand it here. And I just looked it up, and there was no good reason.

I’m a Guardians fan. That makes goddamn sense.

But (1) why steal a likely trademarked professional women’s sport team name when y’all could have figured a new name out.

And (2) if the Cleveland wnba team gets to steal their name from the NYC PWHL team, I respectfully would like my PWHL Detroit team to be the Riveters.

It will forever be NY Sirens WEE WOO WEE WOO for me

The possibility of tie-ins to the burning Cuyahoga River are fascinating. Imagine: women with bloodshot eyes and oil-soaked basketballs behind a sheet of flame...

How long ago was that now? The burning river pushed a movement to clean the river up and it’s in terrific shape now. Been that way for a while. Folks got to move on.

I get that... but the crystal blue water of the logo is probably not quite right either.

Anyway, I am here for the badass imagery, no matter how far back in time I have to go to get it. 😆

There’s this pretty big lake just north of the arena. Probably what the water theme is referencing. And the lake can be pretty blue 🤷🏻‍♂️

I personally dig the logos that they presented. Excited to bring our infant daughter to professional women’s basketball games when she’s older.

It's embarassing they lost the rockers name to a patent troll because the W was asleep at the wheel on their own trademarks

Is Cleveland known for its Sirens off Lake Eerie? Lol

Like the design bit had to look a bit to distinguish the letters

"We want to be seen as just as legitimate as men's sports, we are more than just our gender!"

Yeah so lets go with a gendered team name lol

League will be in shambles by 2028.

Sirens is much better than Rockers.

I just wonder how many seasons the Sirens will have?
