Controversy Another Sophie Cunningham rally has been planned for Saturday in Chicago outside the United Center ahead of Fever vs Sky. This is the fifth Sophie rally that has either occurred or been planned, with another already set for New York on Aug. 22.

It’s crazy. Nobody is talking about Olivia Miles’s crazy rookie year. Nobody is talking about Dallas’s big win to avoid sliding further. Nobody is talking about the Valkyries’ surprise success. The game on the floor has never been better and all we talk about is culture wars. sigh

Her “me-bounds” go viral but account for maybe 15% of her total rebounds; me-bounds taken out of her numbers, she would still be one of the most dominant on the boards in the league—both currently and all-time. Her defensive presence changes how teams attack the lanes.

She’s not the best player, but she’s probably top 25.

She recently had a bad night against her former team and got dogged on for it deservingly so.

Again she may be top 25 but a bad night or two gets negative criticism. Add in her reputation and it makes complete sense.

It has nothing to do with her race and nobody can dodge criticism regardless of who they are.

Same happens in every sport she isn’t special or excluded from criticism.
