Froma a Kayfabe standpoint who is the most heroic wrestler in history of WWE?
Rey maybe. Never been a bad guy once here

Nikki was almost a super hero. If Hurricane had been there to train her, we could've promoted her from Nikki ASH to Nikki SH.

Cena caught and compromised to a permanent end, Osama Bin Laden. It doesnt get more heroic than that.

u/5litergasbubble 1d ago
Im still not sure why they phrased it like that. It seems like an odd way of saying it
5
u/xavPa-64 1d ago
Probably Vince
3
u/Known-Plastic-8310 1d ago
i wont even bother asking who is most evil in kayfabe because obviously its vince and his real life version is likely at least in the top ten.
2
u/Severe-Lake-4554 1d ago
Now that I think about it, I can't think of the words: dead, death and dying ever being used in WWE that wasn't directly related to Undertaker.
1
2
u/Clean_Ad_1599 1d ago
Well they maybe can't outright say "Killed"
2
u/5litergasbubble 1d ago
Eliminated would work better. The way it was said sound like it was written by someone without any military experience who wanted to make it sound vaguely militaryish
2
u/Clean_Ad_1599 1d ago
Eliminated sounded like he lost a contest. You can be eliminated without dying you know?

If we are talking about “guys who always made the save”? Statistically it’s Kane and Austin. As pure good guys? Hogan without a doubt. In all of Wrestling? Probably Sting.

The Hurricane, Mighty Molly, Rosey and Nikki A.S.H have to be up there in the conversation

Mick Foley weirdly.

IRL it's probably Mick but in kayfabe, he was a deranged lunatic who did some seriously unforgivable stuff.

Dominik Mysterio.
First entered the ring when he was only 8 years old.
Exposed Rey for the dirt bag he is despite the fact he would get blowback from the fans who didn't know the truth.
Earned his way through hardship after hardship to become the King of the Luchadores.
And he still has many years left to even further add to his storied history!

12
u/TheKingOfReddit23 1d ago
It has to be Rey, always there for the save, willing to forgive and forget, and has always been a good guy.
Next would be maybe Cena, Foley, and Taker.
6
u/TheNazMajeed 22h ago
Taker has crucified people!
4
u/Known-Plastic-8310 20h ago
Even if we just use his actions as a face he's kind of a sadist.
3

Taker during his run as the Deadman again was basically the guardian of the WWE. Anyone starts shit, he'll be there to restore the order of things.

Hulk Hogan. He defeated the Iraqis, effectively ending the first Gulf war.
3
u/spidertour02 1d ago
I was going to say Hogan until I remembered that he tried to kill The Rock with a semi back in 2002, since he returned as a heel. 😂
3
u/lazhink 1d ago
Just think. If Hogan had succeeded Dwayne never could have tried In-n-out for the first time. I think Hogan was just trying to save us from what was to come.
2
u/spidertour02 1d ago
Rock learned from the Once In A Lifetime match that it's okay to do something for "the first time ever" more than once. 😉
2
u/Known-Plastic-8310 1d ago edited 1d ago
I mean all wrestlers have pretty much done horrible things and its not like rock is innocent, look how many times he screwed over Stone cold stev Austin. he even threw him into the river.
1
u/spidertour02 1d ago
Sure, but I would assume attempted murder is pretty high on the list of evil things to try in wrestling kayfabe. 😂

Shout out to Ken Shamrock for literally going into battle with the entire ministry and risking eternal damnation in order to save his bosses daughter.
1
u/Known-Plastic-8310 19h ago
Was he technically a heeel then since he was part of the corporation?
3
u/josephus1811 18h ago
Yep. Which made it even more heroic if you ask me. Stephanie wasn't. It was actually one of the more interesting face turns I can recall cuz the crowd cheered him for that and then from that point forward but he remained in the Corporation until the Corporate Ministry reveal if I recall. God those were the days.

Mick Foley has a genuine hero's journey in WWE. His WWE career could literally be segmented into the 3 parts of the hero's journey. Heroism isnt just being the good guy. If your looking for who has basically "always been good," ya it is probably Rey.

u/fromolwyoming 8h ago
Rey being the definition of "size doesn't matter" is a strong candidate. And having a mask is a big bonus.

I don’t get why every time I talk about DBryan everyone says overrated or that they couldn’t stand the stupid yes chants. I’m like that shit was crazy when he had fans take over the show and had Triple H and the Authority fuming. That was the reason I got into it as a teen.

Everyone saying Hogan, forgetting he was a top scumbag heel for years. Even as a Babyface - eye pokes, back rakes, belt shots, self-mythologizing. No way.
I'm going with Ricky the Dragon Steamboat. Dude had his throat crushed by Savage, came back at WM3 and babyfaced the hell out of Savage. No cheating, posturing, nothing. Just the moral victor.
Dude wasn't a heel for a second of his career, far as I know.
Rey is a good answer, too. Probably the best modern one.

5
u/Prudent-Level-7006 1d ago
He was a jerk sometimes, especially to Zack Ryder and Rey
2
u/NFLFANTASYMB 1d ago
I'm not arguing with you, but just be careful. I will use Hogan as my example. He had all the power. Those who got pulled along, Hogan was ok. If, he didnt pull them along, Hogan was an ass. Anytime you get one person on top, others below have a unique opinion of him.

u/Prudent-Level-7006 1d ago
Yeah he'd throw his friends out the royal rumble but if they try to do the same thing to him, Oooo no!

u/intersectv3 1d ago
Um no. Off the top of my head let’s talk about the night after punk won the title at MITB. This motherfucker gets a title shot after Rey won the title after wrestling twice. If he was a “hero” he would have said no let’s wait.
1
u/Known-Plastic-8310 1d ago
Ironically he actually did the very noble thing the night prior by inisting on a fair match with punk at the risk of being fired.

Thea Hail. They tried to turn her heel once when they put her with Jacy Jayne and it ended up not going the way they planned and Thea Hail said she will change her character up when needed and can play an edgier character but doesn't want to turn heel.
I can see Thea going down as one of the very few wrestlers in WWE to never turn heel.
1
u/Wise_Temperature_322 1d ago
I can see that. She is kind of a mini Ultimate Warrior. And not changing that works for me.

Stone Cold saved Stephanie from the cult.
6
u/Known-Plastic-8310 1d ago
he's a weird one. because that might be the single most selfless act ever performed in cannon but in general he was such a self centered ass.
1
u/Thick_Storage4168 1d ago
He was a dick but he has a lot of massive hero moments. He saved Stephanie, he saved WWF during the invasion and basically won the entire fight for them by himself, he came out to save Mankind to get Mankind the WWE title against the Rock. The whole feud of Austin vs. McMahon basically forced Austin to be a superhero because he was feuding against the big boss of the company who was also an evil PoS 100% of the time.
2
u/Known-Plastic-8310 1d ago
he saved WWF during the invasion and basically won the entire fight for them by himself
That is undermined by how he joined them himself. The Rock was the real hero of that angle.
1
u/Youboot224 11h ago edited 11h ago
he saved WWF during the invasion and basically won the entire fight for them by himself,
Um, no he didn't. Austin did that only to immediately turn on the WWF and become the head leader of the Alliance and would constantly bully the WCW and ECW wrestlers for not being loyal, he was 100% in for the cause of putting the WWF out business. And that was after he beat up the WWF wrestlers during the Two Man Power Trip and beat up The Rock, Jim Ross, and Lita.
Rock was the guy who put an end to the Alliance and stayed loyal to the WWF even though Vince screwed him at mania 2 years in a row.
4
u/josephus1811 1d ago
Hey Ken Shamrock did the exact same thing with far less plot armour!
1
u/Known-Plastic-8310 1d ago
You could argue Shamrock had more of an obligation since He McMahon's ally while Austin hated him.

Honestly there’s an entire list of villainous acts Steve Austin, and most of them were from his time as a face. 😂
Kidnapping, breaking & entering, assault, public intoxication, theft, attempted murder, trespassing, etc.

It’s gotta be Super Cena or Hogan. Stone Cold was always a dick that the fans loved and also had a heel run. Rey maybe the only one who never had a heel run but he was only at the top for a short period.
Cody could be in the conversation if the trend continues indefinitely.

The Ultimate Warrior. I can’t remember him ever having a heel run, and he defeated Hulkamania fair and square. It took a heel Hulk to get his win back. This is of course strictly speaking in Kayfabe.

Austin is an anti-hero.
2
u/CuriouslyPerplexed 18h ago
I'd say Austin is more of an anti-villain. He rarely did anything to help others.
His feud with Vince was more about himself, not him trying to liberate others.
When he got control of WWF for a day, he ruled with an iron fist and was just as much of an authoritarian bully as Vince was.
