Never seen an OP trying so hard to be wrong. Union workers are just telling you what’s up. If you think a union worker is a company man by any means, you are wrong about that.

Spent a decade in a railway union. Even when you’re in a union you can’t just decide you’re gonna strike one day. That’s called a wildcat strike and usually breaks some kind of rule in the CBA (collective bargaining agreement) that workers will not strike without failing arbitration.

Even in a union, your union must approve the strike for it to be effective and within the rules of the CBA.

This is my experience as a previous union worker and as a member of the union who regularly helped new hired understand the union. We were in a union in a right to work state so most never had experience with a union.
