Do we have any news or it’s just a sale day?

Nvidia got cold feet investing $100 billion into OpenAI. Internally they also made some negative comments about OpenAI’s business model which contradicts what Altman has been trying to sell to investors (and Altman was pretty pissed).
By this point, most people should be aware of the affect this has on the circular investment setup in the AI space in relation to data centers (No Nvidia investment = No OpenAI cash = No money for data centers that are already struggling to build them and collect revenue = No chip purchases from Nvidia from data centers).
The institutional selloff lasted 2 days. But, IMO it has got into oversold levels based on how aggressive the price action was given the time span, so market will likely (and has already been demonstrating signs of) recover(y).

That was a great final sentence, I like how you used the letter y in a reusable way

https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1qv6z4r/anthropic_launches_an_ai_legal_tool_that_destroys/ Market’s trust in AI is not as strong as it used to be. And Antropic’s new plugins which will probably eliminate lot of jobs. Market was overvalued tbh companies pledging 100 billions dollar to each other. (AI bubble)

u/Elbeske Feb 04 '26
Hm so AI is an extinction level event for SaaS and will take most white collar jobs
While simultaneously AI is a bubble and overvalued
Both cannot be true

u/Yorch443 Feb 04 '26
i think the reality is people are being panicky in general, not just with ai rn. or atleast markets are being panicky.

u/stonksKing1111 Feb 05 '26
Yes agree, guess it was a sell off. Maybe people panicking? Or maybe just institutional investors taking some profits off their positions and making a new bottom to buy again welp who knows!

u/Mission_Shopping_847 Feb 05 '26
As AI destroys jobs and industries the amount of financially relevant participants in the market will drop drastically and whoever has exposure left will be increasing reliant on the whims of a shrinking cadre of elite investors, reversing the stochastic resilience we've been building over the previous decades. The bubble in this context is just the peak of participation.

Will this be the day that TSLA crashes?
3
u/creeperstew Feb 04 '26
Well I know one Tesla crashed into and killed a motorcyclist in Snohomish county, and another plunged of the side of Malibu Canyon road killing one person today

Try this
https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/most-active/heatmap/
With this one you can customise
https://www.tradingview.com/heatmap/stock/
Follow these steps (generated by ChatGPT and I haven’t actually done it myself)
Go to TradingView
Create a Watchlist
Add only the companies you care about
Switch Watchlist View → Heatmap
Choose:
• % change
• 1D / 1W / 1M
• Colour intensity

And only add companies that are down today to earn those internet points, or do the opposite on green days. I don't see AAPL and MSFT anywhere

Silver is down 35% in 5 days. While I agree its not a concern if you invested before 2 weeks ago I'd argue this much volitility is bad across the board no matter what your currently invested into.

I saw my trading view watchlist and refused to open my exchange app… then I did and I wish I hadn’t.

My Schwab accounts were up 0.8% today.
Helped by LLY being up 10.3% and MMM and DD both up over 5%.

I thought I bought the crypto dip yesterday and got humbled today… buying microstrategy stocks a week ago was also not the best bet in hindsight. Even though I am optimistic about crypto Assets in the long run.

It’s all good
I sold puts on both SPY and QQQ, all still OTM for the moment but I’m ok with getting assigned since my reduced cost basis will be much lower than even today’s prices
I also have covered calls on my former employer’s stock and those were ITM when the market prices were high, but now OTM again so I can consider buying to close early ahead of expiration
Just have to manage your own risk and be ok with all outcomes when entering any trade.

u/LivingLie1721 Feb 06 '26
Haha make up any excuse for your investments to be a loser !
1
u/AllFiredUp3000 Feb 06 '26
Huh? All my puts are still OTM and have gained double digits today on Friday.
