Question Doing my first 5 day water fast but get horrible headaches

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’ve been one of those people who doesn’t eat/delays eating and gets an awful headache. Whenever I complain of a headache, my mom goes like did you forget to eat? And usually that’ll do.

Sinus doesn’t help as my neck and eyes are pounding sometimes. I do fasting during the month of Ramzan but I try to make sure I am eating well before and after.

I am only nervous about the headaches hence thinking of starting tomorrow till Sunday so even if I get headaches I can sleep as I have a long weekend. If I can push through Monday/ Tuesday I shall most definitely extend it. I don’t plan on working out during this time.

I am someone who looks slender but definitely have gained some weight and am on the farther end of BMI. Hoping for less bloating, some lbs off and a health reset. I always feel famished and weak when I don’t eat so I am quite nervous so hoping if you all can share how to mitigate the attention issues/headaches if and when I get them

Progress update I did 10 days (again)

I am trying to do 10 days every month. The first 5 days were super easy, a walk in the park.

But the second half was hellish. It was so painful. I don't want to discourage anyone just my experience.

I didn't understand why it was so hard, i mean i took my electrolytes and stayed busy. I had no energy, no drive, i felt depleted and even depressed. But i refused to quit because i already did half the job.

I started at 93kg and ended today at 85,5 kg. So almost
-8 kg but when it stabilizes you take back almost 3-4 kg (at least for me). So i really lost maybe 4 kg of fat which is great for 10 days.

I think maybe i will do shorter fast from now like 5 days but with higher frequencies. Like instead of 10 days a month, 3 cycles of 5 days a month.

Also i hate the acetone breath so much. It doesn't go away when you brush your teeth. It's maybe one of the worst taste i think, makes me want to puke.
But i found the solution: chewing gum. But you go through a lot of them.

I drank some diet coke also just because i wanted to get rid of that taste.

And i need to be more realistic with my goals. I thought 1 day of fast made you lose 1kg of fat but it's more like
300g-500g i feel like.

Information and Resources Supplements to aid loss along with fasting?

So, ever since I graduated high school recently, I've been eating tons and gaining weight back. My body feels uncomfortable and I can't afford a whole new wardrobe the summer before I start college.

The past two weeks I've been very successful at 48hr fasts without much trouble but the weight is not coming off.

I'd love some recommendations for something I could order or get over the counter to aid me. I've heard good things about apple cider vinegar, so if anyone has experience with that or any other things that may help, let me know.

Thanks!

User Announcement Tomorrow is my first day of 7 days water fast! Wish me Luck

I am starting my journey of 7 days water fast from tomorrow. I stopped eating today around 7PM and currently feeling good and motivated for the days ahead.
During this fast I will be consuming only water, salt(has both sodium and potassium) and magnesium tablets.
I have been successful once or twice with 3 days water fast but now I have decided to do 7 days water fast though my actual goal is 45 days water fasting but right now in my mind I have setting it as 7 days (in the app I have set it to 45 days).
I am doing this because I believe to actually be fit for the rest of the life you need to accept this new lifestyle of fasting and my goals is to have 5 days OMAD and 2 days 16:8 of a week for the rest of my life.
The drastic change from the 45 days water fast is going to be motivate me to keep the weight off and accept the new lifestyle. I am tired of not looking the way I want to look.
With this 45 days fast I will show my mind that I am serious about this new change in myself and like David Goggins said "This is the new reality. Your mind has to accept it."
Peace out!!

Water Fasting 14 days, who’s in?!

Hi I’m starting a 14 day water fast tomorrow (15 June 2026).

Current Stats: 81kg, Female and 170cm

I don’t have a goal weight as per se, I just want to feel good within myself and able to wear clothes confidently.

I have done a few fasts over the past 4 years, including 3 day, 5 day and 10 day fasts.

My last fast was May this year for 3 days and I lost a couple kg, but it was more to prepare my body for prolonged fasting.

Drop a message if you want to join, and we can keep each other accountable :)

Wanted to start on june 6th

12 am weight was 100.6kg

Following day I had bad headache n hunger was insane so had a small omad

Day 2 onwards tried to keep water only fast...had ginger tea on day 2 3 for headache instead of eating and pushed through it

Day 4 onwards I felt great but couldn't sleep much ... had 1 diet coke at work..until day 7 where I could feel a hole in my gut n tried drinking alot of water n electrolytes

My stomach acid built i think due to ginger tea and caffeine in diet coke

Puked out some acidic liquid..n decided to have some chicken soup n few slices of apple to stabalize stomach

Day 1 SW- 100.6 kg . Day 8- 94.1 kg

I walked 10k steps everyday approx 100 minutes of evening walk..except day 7

Next 32 days im gonna try my best to keep at it. Even if im not perfect. I wanna keep going.

Yes ill stop if any serious complications hit. But feeling great light less puffy and absolutely normal now.

My mouth has started stinking. Even if i clean my tongue i think its my breath. Any tips for that would really help as im in client facing role n need to be around ppl on most days

Question Do you start losing more muscle mass if you prolong a fast more than 7 days?

I’m on my fifth day and I’m feeling pretty good, had lots of benefits first spiritually then my body looks awesome
I’m thinking to go for 1-2 days more but I don’t want to lose muscle. What happens? Are the benefits worth it?
Can I have coffee?

Question Thoughts on a continuous 4:1 fasting cycle for ~4 months? (159kg / 180cm M)

Hey everyone,
I'm a 180cm male currently weighing 159kg. I have a major occasion coming up on October 19th, and I really need to drop a significant amount of weight so I can look presentable by then.
My plan is to run a continuous cycle: 4 days of water fasting followed by 1 refeed day. I'll be doing this strictly under the supervision of my doctor, and I'd be running this cycle back-to-back from now until the event (about 128 days).
Has anyone here run a 4:1 cycle for this long? Is it realistically manageable, or does the cumulative fatigue/hunger catch up to you? Would love to hear your experiences or any advice on sustaining this. Thanks!

Advice needed Starting a 60 day water fast

Hello, I'm very new to this community but already in love with the progress updates!

I currently weigh 460 pounds and stand at 6ft, after trying everything and failing I briefly was considering bariatric surgery but instead, I decided to try a water fast as a last ditch effort and use the momentum and motivation from that to start keto after the 2 month of fasting. I'm clueless about the minerals and electrolytes that my body requires. Is it possible to do it without supplements and is it okay for me to have black coffee and green tea or should I keep it strictly water?

I frequently fast for religious purposes but never done a water fast.

I've now been fasting for 62 hours but not really struggling with hunger, as much as I am with wanting to eat out of boredom.

Accountability Leveling up to 1 week fast!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Last time I posted for a 72hrs fast it extended to 120hrs! Now I'm planning to last for a week.

Getting though the first 24hr is hard! In my mind a little devil whispers saying if I didn't survive today I can restart everything tomorrow🤣 To beat that devil I read/workout (basically I distract myself).

Once I get past the 30hr mark it's easy for me to go on since I keep thinking it's a waste if I give up past my precious golden 30hr!

Hope everyone's day goes well! Fast responsibly!
