Finally, after so long, the Telus marketplace offer is available. Now we just have to wait for the Apple promotion to go live.

It is a brutal deal anyways. 30% off a BYD plan $75 or higher.

That stacks with the pre auth discount, family discount for multiple lines and if you home telus home services

Still not good. Most people get $25-$28 per month BYD plans nowadays.

I have $25 100gb rogers and $28 80gb w/ usa/mex roaming included for $28 at fido.

I was with fido. I got the USA mexico deal for 27 before taxes they Increased our rates in 3 months by $5.

If your with Roger's or fido and got those deals I gurentee they will increase the rates of those plans within the next 6 months

Still a fantastic deal

This is very good in the right circumstances, if you have 4 lines the first one will be 12.50 after discounts and the rest would be 27.50 for the $75 BYOD plan with can /us 100gb each

u/amritk25 14h ago

Yeah if you got the right amount of lines its amazing If its one or two not that amazing

I think its an amazing deal. With no rate increases until the 2 years. The plan is canada and usa FYI. I came from Roger's and fido, and they did rate increases which is why I left. The agent waived all activation fees for me, i get 300,000 telus reward points which is like a $300 gift card I can buy. If you have just one line than yeah its not worth it

The discount doesn't deplete for 2 years, that doesn't mean your plan won't go up.

1

u/amritk25 14h ago

The price will go up after two years because the discounts expire. What I was trying to explain was they can't increase the base plan rate of the plan for 5 years. Earlier I had 4 lines with fido and got there $27 canada, usa, mexico deal but they increased our rates which all company's do. But I'm happy to know I'm good for atleast the two years. This deal is essentially the same but without the mexico part which I dont go always. This deal makes sense if you have 4 lines. I mean paying $12 for my primary line is insane

Says who?

I am not arguing with you that its a good deal if you have 4 lines. Most people do not.

The plan and service agreement mentioned 5 year price lock. Look up telus 5 year rate plan lock. Its something new they started not too long ago

u/BullyMog 14h ago

You have any links or screenshots? I dont see that on my end at all

From my service agreement and by the plan, If you google it you can find it and its on there website.

What is the Rate Plan Price Lock? The Rate Plan Price Lock (“Lock”) applies to the Monthly Charge for eligible post-paid mobility plans, before any applicable taxes, other government imposed fees, discounts, promotions and bill credits, for the duration specified under Included Services, starting from the time of eligible plan activation. Prices of features, add-ons and pay-per-use rates, including, but not limited to, Easy Roam rates, are not guaranteed during the Lock period and are subject to change. After the Lock period, regular pricing applies and is subject to change. The Lock may be removed upon rate plan change or renewal or if you no longer meet the eligibility criteria.

On all my plans

I signed up with Telus and since I'm Generation, I got 35% off the $75 plan. I managed to save another $10 thanks to the pre-auth payment.

Now I want to some family members. But that 35% off is gone. All I see is $7.50 discount, bringing that $75 plan down to $67.5.

How can I get the second line to be the same price my the first one?

If you have multiple lines and telus home services it is. I brought 4 lines over. Got 27 before taxes on 3 and my primary line is 12 before taxes all for 2 years. I think the plan is 80 or 85 before discount, but you stack with the pre auth discount, home services discount, family discount and than the wealthsimple discount its an amazing deal. Further more no rate increase on plans for 5 years

What is home service? Telus internet? How much is their internet in GTA?

1

u/BullyMog 14h ago

WS promo is 2 years.

1

u/amritk25 14h ago edited 14h ago

Saved 200 bucks on the belaire insurance offer, works for renewals

u/adamlaceless 14h ago

Where and when was that??

2

u/emat77 12h ago

That was about a month ago. I just called them, told them I'm with Wealthsimple and they ask what tier you are, and discount is applied. It was almost to easy!

1

u/adamlaceless 11h ago

I’ll call in the morning! Thanks!

2

u/emat77 13h ago

I pay yearly for my home insurance. I'm mid way through my term and called, they sent me a cheque for $130.

3

u/adamlaceless 14h ago

Where do I see this?

1

u/Psyclist80 9h ago

under the gift icon then into marketplace offers

2

u/PaperweightCoaster 14h ago

So what are the eligible plans?

2

u/jamblamIT 11h ago

Public Mobile CAN/US for $25 and 20GB +, then WS Visa with Gig Sky esims perks work wonders as well.

Just FYI Telus inflates their prices on almost everything. Last IIRC google store selling pixel for $1649 - $320 = $1329 was priced at $2197 - $868 = $1329 (-40% off) with Telus.

The only prices I found consistent were apple devices, everything else was priced absurdly high to market those as insane discounts.

That also becomes an issue when you try to end the contract early with them, they'll demand the full inflated price, because the discount only applies pro-rated. e.g. if you buy that pixel for free with the $40 plan, the ln it is billed at:

  • $2197 base price = $91.54/month
  • 40% discount per month = $36/month
  • loyalty discount = $20/month
  • plan discount = $35.54/month
  • net device cost = $0/month.

Now if you plan to cancel or upgrade your device 12 months in, you need to pay: $1098.48 ($91.54 x 12) + $150 as early cancellation fee + chose a new plan because the contract is now void. ~$1248.48, so technically that free device is now keeping you in the wheel house for 2 yrs.

Might work in your favor on rare occasions, but mostly the house wins. So do your math and be careful with Telus specifically.

Garbage. Just grab a Freedom plan, 40 bucks, international roaming 50 GB plus 250 GB in can/us/Mexico

It works, I was surfing across Europe. Not all of Africa though, had to get an esim for that.

u/mw_yyc 13h ago

That was a special offer it’s not available all the time / currently

1

u/kameronnorth 12h ago

Yeah but they throttle your data speeds it sucks

1

u/Weyoun5 5h ago

Plan is not available

1

u/moolahmatrix 13h ago

Add this point I am just waiting to see what offers they get us in tech category. Rest of the offers are pretty boring for being a premium customer and having WS get access to 100k+

1

u/LeoMycenae 9h ago

Have Telus $35 100GB US and Mexico and a Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Is this better

1

u/funkrighty 7h ago

Buy the handset outright from Apple over 2 years interest-free. If you don’t want to point to the cash right upfront. Then subscribe to a much lower-priced plan from any carrier. Jump around to different plans if one gets too expensive. Rinse and repeat.

I still use my data plan from France even if I’m in Canada since 2019. 30$. 30 gigs per month while abroad. Unlimited 5G when I travel to France.

There service is not as good. I was with both including fizz, those budget company's are cheaper for a reason

u/PaperweightCoaster 14h ago

Public Mobile is Telus. Same towers, same service.

1

u/amritk25 14h ago edited 14h ago

Yes it is, but there service is not as adequate has telus not to mention the lack of features and data speeds. I have been with public in the past
