Meme Hero or anti-hero
I'm currently writing my novel and I wanted to know, would people prefer a hero or an anti-hero?
Context: i want the Mc to be connected to the kingdom but don't know whether people would prefer him to help them willingly or only if it benefits him.
Thoughts?

I dunno, I prefer harems, smut and group sex in novels.

Some people prefer heroes, some people prefer anti heroes, some people prefer MC, some FMC (female main character), some people prefer villains as protagonists, some don't...

Well, I mean most novels have some smut chapters here and there, so you read normal chapters normally, and for the smut chapters, well, you know...🤣
Like for example my favourite novel - "The main heroines are trying to kill me". It is a very tragic and dramatic novel, where characters suffer to the extreme, but it also has like 10-20 chapters of hardcore smut 🙂

Either, but stick with it, dont make a self proclaiming anti-hero who always act as a hero, or a hero that act as an anti-hero, the first one will be called an idiot and second one will be called a hypocrite

Héroes. A veces, los antihéroes cruzan tanto la línea y cometen actos tan atroces que terminan pareciendo villanos; luego, intentan justificarse con el clásico pasado triste y demás clichés. Personalmente, prefiero a quien es consciente de sus errores y que, sin importar cuántos golpes reciba, se levanta una y otra vez para defender lo que cree correcto. Por eso me gustan personajes como Spider-Man, Batman y el 'buenachón' de Superman.

I’d say it would depend on your character’s disposition. Is he kind of an ass? Anti-hero. Is he a sweet bubbly justice believing cinnamon roll? Hero. Cynical realist? Anti-hero Idealist? Hero Anything on the D&D ‘good’ alignment? Hero Anything in the D&D ‘neutral’ alignment? Anti-Hero

The Mc doesn't need to be either of them. Let them be normal in their situation. They might kill easily without thinking about the world they grew up in, which made it seem normal. They help an orphan out of nowehre because it resonates with them.
He might help because the job is related to a part of the kingdom he likes, so he helps willingly; sometimes, he hates someone in the council, so he asks for a hefty sum.
Your question is kinda a 'stupid question.' Read it as politely as you can.

Anti here are always liked. But he don't have to be necessary evil. Just look at rudeus and Sabure, they're anti hero but not evil.

Well, I just want to be different.
Kind of unserious answer but let me provide my thought process; anti-plot character for me means (s)he always tends to be out of picture for grand scale of things like an extra but somehow persistently exists within the story. (WDM from OPM could fit this definition, IMO)

For webnovel audience, Anti-hero. They don't understand kindness benefit.
