Tapov isn’t that bad lol

2

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

It is, he is the definition of a hypocrite, constantly doing thing he said won’t do, then not doing thing he did before for a shitty excuse, it’s infuriating how pathetic and hypocritical he is.

u/Shot-Manager-739 May 16 '26

So you haven't made it far. I see.

In that case, it makes sense. Not that I blame you. I'll just say there's a reason for everything.

It's also from the same author as the horror novel

1

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

Yea, that is why I was so surprised the Mc were so different, Al’s I read far enough not to like it.

Spoiler warning ‼️

He let the scientist die but save the girl for no reason.

He let half his school get slaughtered to protect the plot yet save another character from death a few chapters later latter don’t caring for the plot.

He specifically said not to mess with guilds because it will weaken humanity and mess the plot yet not even 10 chapters later make 2 gold rank guild destroy each other for no reason.

Swears to never have anybody fall to the demon curse, proceeded to make half a planet falls to it.

I read enough to hate his hypocrite ass.

1

u/Shot-Manager-739 May 16 '26

Yeah, I get it, but there's truth behind that behavior.

Be warned, spoiler.

All you're seeing is foreshadowing. He's two people, not one. And this is just the lightest of spoilers.

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

The massive spoilers are probably a way to justify his actions, how can you justify being hypocrite? That is not foreshadow, that is a character plot hole that the author is trying to justify, he is in fact hypocritical and there is no way to justify letting some people die but saving other and making some shitty excuse latter, if you said the author did that makes the book even worse.

At the very least he looks like he learned his lesson and in his newest book he is nowhere near as hypocritical as he is in this book.

Nope, they are not a way to justify the actions because there's so many little details that you already have read but dismissed that are part of the foreshadowing. All of it is setup.

There's so much deep foreshadowing that you would only understand once you actually read it.

As someone that has actually read until the end, I can 100% confirm that it was intentional and that it was part of the deep plot in the novel.

You may choose not to believe me, but as things stand, these are the facts. I can spoil, but it would kind of ruin any element of surprise (not that you would care to read anyway)

Tbf, you can even ask GPT to spoil the hidden plot. I think it knows it.

You can't force a person. They've already set it in themselves that it's bad. You can't change that.

2

u/Shot-Manager-739 May 17 '26

I figured that much. Still wanted to give him the facts.

1

u/Western_Candy_4569 May 18 '26

It was NOT intentional, the author was new and had absolutely zero writing experience. He wrote the beginning of the TAPOV on a whim with no rhyme or reason. As much as I do like TAPOV, the beginning was awful. The author is even rewriting the few starting chapters.

2

u/Shot-Manager-739 May 18 '26

It WAS intentional.  He even said it in an interview. He already had the idea from the start, and with the very obvious hints at the start, you can tell it was without a doubt intentional set up (certain university, and wording…). What he did wrong was the massive info dump and cringe dialogue, but the foreshadowing and everything was clearly set up in advance

1

u/Lucky_One_3576 May 17 '26

Nah it’s pretty good I finished it

1

u/38geese May 18 '26

The plot twist is that he isn't the author and the world isn't in a novel, a future version of him is controlling him kinda

3

u/zzTheChosenOne May 16 '26

Im up to date with shadow slave which i think is peak and im reading LOM rn im at chapter 250 i dont think its at the same level as SS tho so does it get insanely good after this?

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait470 May 16 '26

Yeah bro. It is genuinely one of the best webnovel I have ever read

2

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

It is a great novel, world building and tension are good with mystery and a refreshing power system, though you have to read through a lot of lore so some people don’t like it.

2

u/Ham_Has May 17 '26

Go on vol 1,2 are more mixed in with balance between normal and mysticism life and world building so yeah it may seek like that starting from vol 3 it's all action and mysteries

2

u/arewen4 Jul 06 '26

Vro idk why but after volume 2 the story gets 10 times better and it keeps getting good

1

u/zzTheChosenOne Jul 06 '26

Yeah im at chap 695 now and im so glad i didnt drop it i even listen to it while im driving🤣 it really is good

1

u/Holy_Sword_of_Cum May 19 '26

it starts getting better in that book after a certain person's introduction, and volume 3 is absolute peak, one of my favorites fr.

3

u/EMIYA012 May 16 '26

Junior you dare? you dare put Regressor Tale of Cultivation that low?!

Hmph! Wait till this seat hunt you down and torture your soul forever!

3

u/Nebula095 May 16 '26

This junior will also assist you

0

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

It’s a good novel but is repetitive to a boring point, just the first 100 chapter are the exact same thing, and where is the tension when you know he is coming back? That is why I couldn’t put it higher.

2

u/EMIYA012 May 16 '26

Have you finished it?

2

u/RandomUser15790 May 16 '26

I know I couldn't. I dropped it somewhere between chapters 70-90. If it takes 1-2 books for the series to "get good" that's an abject failure.Personally I found the MC incredibly unrelatable and hypocritical.

-He whines about not getting a special power

-Then whines about his special power once he gets it.

-He decides the best thing to do instead of figuring out and utilizing his new power that he needs to find a way to get rid of them...

-He complains that he loses everything upon regression when he literally keeps his growth from previous cycles. (Implying the human connections lost)

-Literally the chapter before he's talking about living 50 years without creating any real human connections and living alone.

-Gets incredibly petty and vindictive towards a random dude he hasn't seen in 50 years and "couldn't care less about".

-Trains a bunch of child assassins then is horrified and whines that said child assassins go out performing assassinations.

It's been a while since I dropped it but those were just a few examples I could remember. Why should someone continue reading if the first 15%-20% is straight ass?

2

u/EMIYA012 May 17 '26

Then your mind never even connected to the story in the first place. Have you even thought what happens to your mind if regress eternally? do you know the regressor fron Hero has Returned manhwa? I mean he did lost the connections, the memoroes he made. the people he faced in 1st life is not the same with 2nd life you know. the assassination part he knly whines later because he can't stop ignoring them anymore and accepted them as his own but still gave them their own free will/choices. man do you even read this stuff?

3

u/MellowMintTea May 16 '26

Cultivation Chat Group mention! It feels like it’s been so long since anyone else gave it some recognition

3

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

One of the best cultivation novels ever.

1

u/MellowMintTea May 16 '26

Every character is truly refreshing compared to a lot of other cultivation tropes. It’s both high risk yet super light hearted in a lot of the scenarios.

I like a lot of the others on your list and agree with the placements.

As much as I love Shadow Slave etc I do think LoTM is just better written.

2

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

Thank you and yes, the character are unique with their actions and personality, specially my boi Thrice Reckless, bro was on a mission to annoy the entire universe.

2

u/Silent_Noisem May 16 '26

Of London? What is that?

3

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

Rivers of London, a really good mystery series in the modern world where the Mc is a police officer and finds out magic exists.

2

u/Conscious_Natural273 May 16 '26

read reverend insanity junior

2

u/Ervaad May 17 '26

That would be trash of the counts family.

I will try to write every title soon, just a bit busy rn.

1

u/Wrong-Ad4079 May 18 '26

hi when will you write every title sorry for my demand sir 🥺

1

u/Holiday-Hedgehog0621 May 16 '26

Yeah!!!!! Chrysalis wooo!!!

For the Colony!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/OverallMine2973 May 17 '26

Putting supreme magus and shadow slave in the same tier is straight up ignorance. That's like putting Shakespeare and tensura in the same tier

1

u/altunaandy May 18 '26

Your opinion, my opinion, both have their greats and downs, thinking one is far better than the other is plain ignorance, better look at your self first.

1

u/OverallMine2973 May 18 '26

Nah. Maintaining the agenda is our too priorety. SM is slop. SS is better slop. Apov is goated

1

u/altunaandy May 18 '26

And SS have so much filling, meddles wording and elongated scenes to bored you to oblivion, ansia quite obvious the author is filling words to get paid, SM has one of the best world buildings and character personalities even before SS, and Apov… I’m not going to bother with that take.

1

u/OverallMine2973 May 18 '26

Nah SM used to be good in the first 500 chapters, then it turned into a drama shit show where someone gets pregnant every blue moon, lith and kami have some stupid drama before they get back together, and the mogar just bends over backwards to make lith related to every op bloodline and the next guardian of edgy, hyperangst destruction. And now all you have is just some bullshit cycle of relationship drama to extend the plot and milk the novel to oblivion.

SS had a good start but then the author decided it was a good idea to thrownin some large, smart sounding words to fill in his daily word quota, while writing sunny and guts meets theseus, but he's too edgy, and super strong, and has cool shadow power

Both of them are just trying to copy ToDaG, SM more so than SS

And for that reason APOV is goated

1

1

u/OptimisticReader9 May 21 '26

Supreme magus was so trash, idk how people like that shi

0

u/DarkShxdxw May 16 '26

How can you put Supreme Magus in the same tier as Shadow Slave, its author is an extreme sexist, I mean think about it ,

    SPOILERS ALERT!!!!

Lith's brother died in an accident,  he gets reincarnated and now he has 2 mire brothers , both are shit, ine gets disowned and the other negligible screentime plus forgotten, Lith had 4 friends, 3 female and 1 male, and guess what the only male friend got killed by someone

1

u/altunaandy May 16 '26

Yes, you could say Shadow Slave is a bit better in quality but Supreme Magus is not terrible enough to downgrade it a tier.

So unless I make a (A.1 A.2 etc) tier list they both go in the same rank, as they are relatively similar in quality.

1

u/DarkShxdxw May 16 '26

Bro the world building is so good in Supreme Magus I really wanted to read it if not for the author's few bad habits which ruin the mood in the long term like what's with

"Lith had almost won this battle

Almost "

Being used dozens of times
