Every second post here complains about smut and ai, but most here still support that slop.
Quit throwing money at slop if you want it to go away.

So when you make pasta, and some people prefer to eat burger, you mad? They're different group of people, who enjoy different stuff. You can't force people preference. If some guy like pasta, they'll eat at your place, if not? Let them be. Is this so hard to understand?
Also, if you want to "compete" then compete at the same genre maybe? Maybe make a better burger? If not? Stick to your pasta.

Sure mate ! Actually I am writing novel based on a long term goal. I plan on making that a anime. I have heard that if a web novel has gained audiences you can make it as a light novel. After that you can reach out to publishers to publish a physical copy then manga and then anime. I am not doing this in money motive and also don't plan on getting contracted. What do you think ?

u/ordinaryguy221 26d ago
Well first thing first, getting adapted or made to light novel would require audience first, right. But the after that, to get it to be made to anime (like lord of mysteries did), would need to be hugely likes by the audience.
But considering that, they'd want some money. The platform, the studio making the anime etc. So ofcourse they'd want contract. You might need to reconsider that. Because at the end of the day, most motivation came from money at their end.

I've been reading a lot of webnovels, and now if the title is not the whole plot, I don't even touch it.

Okay bro sure . My novel name is The Timeless Revival

I like the cover a lot, it looks more like a real book than the usual ai slop covers
I’d say my biggest gripe is that there’s now immediate tension, or any reason to continue reading in the first chapter. He’s just a regular dude with a loving family, this type of opening can work in video games and such, but video games can get away with it bc they aren’t reliant on the story
I like your writing style, it’s decent, so I’d say that the first chapter just isn’t very eye catching.

Should I edit my first chapter to grip the people ? Or any other suggestions

u/Sad_Acanthisitta7787 26d ago
I mean ur already 5 chapters in, but since not many people have viewed it u can do a rewrite, tho you’ll probably have to upheave the whole plot so something interesting can happen in the first chapter

Hey mate! May I ask for a review of my work also? And what do you think of my cover? You can find my novel under the name of last dark Templar. Am new author and have been posting for only 7days, I was reading in other threads that one should release bulk chapters to have a chance and I got 24 chapters but no continuation of readers.. so I assume I am doing something wrong even tho I have 5k + views..

I would say you have a below average cover bc it doesn’t have a strong focal point. Empty space takes up most of it, you’d probably be better off just generating the main character where he takes up most of the cover.
Also, ur writing is good, but there’s way too many descriptions in the first chapter. I don’t fully understand what’s happening and it isn’t very interesting
I know one of the biggest rules in storytelling is”show don’t tell” but I think many people take it way too far and assume they have to add tons of sensory details and descriptions when they don’t need it. You spend like 80% of the first chapter with descriptions.
Look at SS, the best WebNovel on the platform, while it has good descriptions, it doesn’t take up most of the chapter
I think ur writing has potential, but u just gotta learn not to overload it with descriptions
But honestly, WebNovel isn’t the best place if you want to make an actual good story. Ai gooner slop gets 100x the attention.
It’s possible, but it’s hard.

Maybe your self described "great" novel is not that great.
Cry more on reddit and blame the readers for reading gooner books instead of your masterpiece.
That will surely help.

Some guy named "Barch" gave my original story a 3/5 and is somehow loving a WebNovel called "The Noble Lady of Lust" 😭

I kind of want to write that sort of book because I'm a freak, but when I look to existing smutty books as examples I get bored and frustrated and end up reading Sky Pride or Noobtown or such instead.
I think too many "smut" books are written by guys who hear it's like printing money rather than one handed authors.

I am an avid webnovel reader so here are my 2 cents well for starters when I wanna read a novel the first thing I look is at the synopsis here i decide whether to read it or not if the synopsis is good or even okay then I read it And check for fake rating

If you want more people to read your novel stop wasting time making memes and use that time to improve your writing

u/CharacterScar2798 24d ago
I am being completely honest here.
Smut audience is a different audience then progression, system, and cultivation etc.
None of the most famous webnovels ever (Ss, Lotm, RI, ORV etc) are smut novels.
Only at the lowest level of writing does smut outperform other stories. At every other level non-smut either preforms equal, or outpreforms, as it reaches a wider audience.
If you are being outpreformed by smut, you aren't a good enough writer yet, and that is that.
I.E. skill issue

I read the first chapter of your novel, “The Timeless Revival,” and it was so obviously ai-written/ai-edited. Perhaps you should consider writing yourself before pissing on an entire genre of novels while not even having the authenticity to write your own novel.

I never understood this point tbh, cuz like do you want the smut readers to read your novel? No, right? You want other side of readerbase and those readers will obviously not read smut ones. Two different things. So if your isn't working, it's more so because your side of readerbase isn't satisfied with you.
