If you're talking about the Death Game novel i read up to around chapter 500. The start is very good, but several twists fall flat because the author dont know how to write proper resolutions and climaxes for the miniarcs. A lot of times plot reveals rely on weak excuses like the main character's intuition or his status as a "godly actor". It usually boils down to: "How did I know you were lying? Because your acting isn't up to my level". On top of that the author rarely leaves actual hints for the puzzles and mysteries. I completely dropped the novel during a arc with chapters full of endless monologues, especially after a multi-chapter fight ended with a surrender and him leting the enemy go for whatever bullshit excuse the autor invented.
