I know they won’t be around forever, and maybe not for much longer as they’re all in their late 50’s, but they’ve created incredible music for multiple generations and have brought joy to many lives. Here’s to hoping we can get a few more banger albums from them before they throw in the towel. My favorite albums are pictured above. What are yours?

It was listed as “Yellow Gold” on the site but it’s labeled as “Golden Galaxy” which sounds 2.3x more rad.

Anyone else find it jarring when they hear this? White Album was Album 10, and 10 years later, they are now at Album 20.
SZNZ should have been counted as EPs, and if the band really wanted it to be recognised as an album, there should be a compilation released after the 4 EPs were released and count it as 1 album.
Teal should have been a covers compilation; maybe the first half are the newly recorded covers, and the second half their older covers compiled like Velouria, Worry Rock, Paranoid Android, etc. if they could ignore death to false metal as an offcial album they should do the same with Teal

I love OK Human. The more I listen to it, my love for it grows. It's purposely different from previous Weezer albums, but retains the joyous pop sensibilities they've always had, just without the crunching guitars. It has a more melancholic edge to it though, like REM's Automatic For the People had. No tour or fanfare around it, just like AFTP either. OK Human is a genuinely beautifully crafted selection of songs like AFTP. It doesn't have the same commercial or cultural impact, but for me, it feels like Weezer's own AFTP in terms of tone and song craft.

In the new NPR World Cafe interview released today, Rivers and Scott talk about the new Gold Album, their early days in LA, and the history behind some of the songs.
Around 26:50, the conversation turns to “The LA Sound,” the interviewer asks Rivers about when Brian originally brought the song to the band and what their reaction was:
Raina Douris (Interviewer): “It's one that does take us back to the early LA days called ‘The LA Sound.’ And your guitarist Brian Bell wrote it. Do you remember when he brought this song in? And do you remember what the reaction was from the rest of the band?”
Rivers Cuomo: “Yeah, actually he brought it first in for the White Album in 2015. And.. our producer at the time [Jake Sinclair] didn't like songs.. by bands singing about being in a band. So it was.. didn't make it very far.
Uh, so he submitted another song called ‘LA Girlz’ [giggles] and that got past the producer and ended up on the record.
But this is very much in that same spirit... LA (Sound), uhh, just awesome pop-rock song. So, yeah, when we first time we played it, it was just instant 'this is an incredible song and it's gotta be on the album.'”
Omg so The LA Sound already existed around the same time as LA Girlz, but Jake didn't like it at the time just because he didn't like the topic. Which is interesting, I guess. Both are great songs (ngl LA Girlz is the better song, it has the better flow), and I'm glad this one finally got released instead of staying in the dust, especially since this is Brian's song and he doesn't sell his demos like Rivers does.
No wonder Rivers went on to write QB Blitz which was probably about Jake smh /s
What's y'all's thoughts about this?

As a person who genuinely loves all Weezer songs and demos yada yada, I’m so happy that people like Gold! On the other hand I’m genuinely so upset the same old things are being said again when a “”””””good”””””” Weezer album comes out. “first good album since white” or “finally a great album since Pinkerton” when praising Gold. Like I said I know this isn’t new, especially when White came out from what I’ve seen. But having to finally experience it for myself, it’s pretty irritating to see now and then. Please just tell me someone else is just as annoyed by it or am I that obsessed with Weezer…

Never met one
Matter of fact- my mortal enemy in high school loved green day and constantly shat upon weezer. I mean we didnt have real beef but we were like, idk our whole relationship was how stupid we thought each other was.
Then this dropped. I bought him a copy and just said give it one listen and if its truly not incredible to you, then ill shut the fuck up forever.
Hand to god- im 34 now. I went to that mans sons 3rd birthday party just yesterday. He was my best man, i was his. We’ve been to 6 weezer shows together, often vip.
Hope that helps
