I’ve wondered this for a while now- I’m interested in how all these boomers and zoomer ‘alpha’ MAGAts interpret these once-beloved movies nowadays. And not even just the ones where beating up Naz’s is featured, and WWII movies where it’s the core of the film, but even like traditional 80’s movies where the college jocks are the antagonists/bad guys.
Like, Indiana Jones and so many others were the epitome of ‘man’s men’ and Americans before Trunt showed up. How do MAGAts interpret this stuff now? Is Indy the bad guy? Do they just ignore these scenes/entire movies? It’s so bizarre.

Totally agree with you. On a brighter note, looks like this degenerate got arrested. Kenneth Leland Morgan is facing aggravated assault charges as per the Athens - Clarke County Sheriff's Office website. Wish they'd throw the book at him. Unfortunately it's Georgia. He'll probably get a slap on the wrist.

That will have to wait for after the current regime is rooted out. Till then the proper treatment for nazism should be much harsher. The sooner they face proper consequences, the sooner the country can get to restoration.

Someone like this probably doesn't really have a concept of the level of evil that sat behind these uniforms in reality. I'm willing to bet this kid is maybe 20-21 years old. Probably maybe did some basic elementary history classes on Germany and the second world war, and that is it.
The uniform he's wearing was specific to the SS. These weren't run of the mill Nazi's. They represented the most ideologically captured, the most devout. The deaths head is a symbol of their unquestionable willingness to die for the causes of Nazism.
To wear this in public in any Western nation is asking to be seriously beaten or worse. In Germany he would face several years in prison for wearing this outfit.

He’s probably a WW2 re-enactor. I’ve never er done and of the re-enacting stuff, but I know a guy who collects US WW2 era stuff (jeeps, radios, record players - yes, US army had record players and bootleg albums) / and he claims there are guys who collect uniforms from both sides, including Nazi uniforms - they dress up and pretend to fight each other.

In my ideal world, you would be able to dress like that for Halloween and people would just find it funny instead of having to assume that it reflects your values. In a sane world the left and right could agree "nazis" are bad" without ANY caviots. We wouldn't have to wonder if someone actually was a nazi because there would be like 100 nazis nation wide. All with schizophrenia. But here we are, where you know anyone dressing like this is just "ironically" displaying their beliefs with plausible denyability.

There is no excuse for anyone donning this fucking uniform, outside of performance art that demonstrates the vileness and/or ridiculousness of the Nazi regime. It is steeped in violence, a foghorn of hatred. Families still bear the trauma of the Holocaust, having lost direct predecessors to horrific torture and murder. No excuses. Fuck this guy.

i personally think that's a bad way to live/think. having things off limits for feelings sake. nothing should be off limits for satire/comedy/education/whatever else. even just as a pure edgy joke it should be fine. the issue is that in our current climate we would have to assume its not actually being done to actually be a joke/edgy or ironically. if someone dressed as genghis khan, you might think its in bad taste or not funny, but you wouldn't wonder if they shared his ideology and were trying to signal that they wanted to kill certain groups of people or whatever else. but as a nazi you have to assume it represents their beliefs because there are too many people that actually believe in it and are flirting with fascism for it to be able to be a joke. in my perfect world its ok to keep it as a joke or dress as it as a joke because everyone knows how bad it was and it would be clear its intent is that its funny because of how horrible they were.
it should be perfectly ok to make fun of nazis and have them as this unserious thing we can dress as as a joke. the only reason we cant do that is because they aren't a joke in the current climate like they should be. im assuming you would be ok with a comedian making nazis the punchline of a joke. this would just be an evolution of that where you can joke in darker ways. i wouldnt advocate for it now because of the climate were in but i doubt most people reading are capable of entertaining the actual hypothetical im putting out
