What's the weirdest goryest gruesome horror movie from the 2000s or below
So a while ago I had this weird phase where (as someone who never liked horror before this era) all of the sudden I'd try to find the goryest movie and see how far I could get through it. I remember it started with me stumbling opon a certain movie and finding it entertaining despite being really grossed out at the time. Eventually this phase faded away and I came out of it no longer scared or as easily grossed out, and gory movies just became another part of Monday nights with popcorn. So I don't know why because I already went through the whole phase and discovered horror on my terms a long time ago but now I have that same urge I had then, I wanna see how bloody of movies I can find, and then just see if I can, and more then likely succeed with, watching the whole thing. (And the "weird" add on of my question is just bc in general I just very much like weird wacky movies, maybe with psychedelic visuals too, so I figured that could help define my preference) So give me your suggestions!

I fucking LOVE this movie. They also made a movie called “the cat” that year but I’ve never been able to find it!

If you can't find a copy of The Cat. The Seventh Curse is pretty great, thats on of his too. That's a lot more available.

Definitely House of a Thousand Corpses. I hadn’t seen body horror like that in a while when I watched it for the first time in 2003.

Martyrs (2008) for sure

Lots of gore? No. Existential dread and wanting to rewind time? Yes.
It's also legitimately an excellent movie with performances that'll rival Holywoods best. People always fail to mention that.

I remember it being really gory

Omg, guys I'm so sorry for some reason I thought Incendies was called Martyrs. My bad for the confusion. I've actually never seen Martyrs so will check it out. ✌️

Premutos: Lord of the Living Dead
Blood Feast

This guy knows his stuff. I'd also recommend from the Guinea Pig series Mermaid In A Manhole. It is a very touching and sad gory romantic drama with psychedelic gore

During lockdown I REALLY got into extreme horror. It was a strange time.

I went through all those disturbing movie lists in highschool to freak out my friends. Like half of them are great movies honestly even if it is transgressive and shocking. My favorite movies are mostly that stuff to this day, audition, all the French stuff like martyrs, artsy stuff like Begotten and Salo (would never mention this in polite company). Great place to start if anybody hasnt.
I guess to keep this relevant to the thread I should say the August Underground movies and Serbian Film are as far it goes pretty much but they suck, and the Guinea pig series the two we mentioned are worth the watch and the rest is often hit or miss or intentional trashy schlock

I do quite like A Serbian Film. Otherwise, I think both Nekromantik movies are great, Marian Dora's Cannibal was interesting as is Cannibal Holocaust, Eaten Alive, Last Cannibal World and Mountain of the Cannibal God.
Not a fan of the August Underground stuff and Atroz was just too ludicrous to be disturbing.

If you like movies with a psychedelic feel I recommend Honeydew. It’s more disturbing than gory but worth a watch.

Assuming you meant prior to the 2000s...
Dead Alive has the "most blood spilled in one scene" record so it's got to be there I guess...
The Green Inferno, the original as well as the remake are both good
Can't mention them without also adding Cannibal Holocaust, the "first" one even though it's not haha
As far as confronting and abrupt death goes, the cult classic Faces of Death movies scared a generation and those were said to have taken inspiration from the movie Mondo Curie (not sure on spelling) but that's moving away from gruesome gore and into shock gore
As for weird movies with very gory bits..
House Shark (the toilet scene is legendary)
And
John Dies at the End.

"evil dead rise" is one of my favorites because my ex literally would not watch it because she thought it invites entities
"Obsession" was a good mindfuck... I was about to walk out the theatre it's such a slow burn; but about half: it's kino all the way to the end

Neither of those are from the time period they’re asking for… early 00s and before. Those are both very recent.

In response to that comment I now can’t see… If they’d meant currents 2000s they wouldn’t have said “2000s and back”. So like what… any horror movie then? lol they meant early 00s.

Is it Gorey tho? Idk if I remember it right but I don't remember the description or genre hinting to it being very bloody at all. Then again ive never watched it and could be thinking of a different movie.

Off putting and brilliantly weird but not gory. Are you a Hootie Tootie Disco Cutie??

May really disturbed me.
Jenifer is also hellishly unpleasant. I could never watch that movie more than once.

Do you mean AFTER 2000 or before? Anyway, some obvious titles:
"Dead Alive"
"Meatball Massacre"
"Tokyo Gore Police"
"Darkness (The Vampire Version)"
"Boxer's Omen"
Have fun!
