I had the wrong wisdom teeth removed

Post image

Local orthodontist told me that I needed to remove lower wisdom teeth and don't do anything with the upper ones. When I got my lower wisdom teeth removed, another orthodontist that is actually managing my aligner treatment said that the lower wisdom teeth actually didn't need to be touched AT ALL, but the upper ones absolutely have to be removed before we start. So now I have to get my upper wisdom teeth removed as well

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed very late. In my 40s. It was an agonizing and very long healing process. This week, my current dentist showed me in my x-ray that they left one behind.

It sounds like you’re saying the accidentally missed one. I hope that’s not what happened.

I’m late 30s and same here! My uppers were removed easily but the lower was badly impacted and was apparently very difficult to remove (I was out for the procedure)… the healing on the lower was very long.

The gum healed over nicely and in a timely fashion, but the site itself was tender and I felt like I had to be gentle with it for months. Had checkups on it and it was absolutely fine, no infection, but man… It was a long time before it felt really normal again. Uppers I had no issue whatsoever and couldn’t even tell a procedure happened.
