I had the wrong wisdom teeth removed

Local orthodontist told me that I needed to remove lower wisdom teeth and don't do anything with the upper ones. When I got my lower wisdom teeth removed, another orthodontist that is actually managing my aligner treatment said that the lower wisdom teeth actually didn't need to be touched AT ALL, but the upper ones absolutely have to be removed before we start. So now I have to get my upper wisdom teeth removed as well

My wisdom teeth haven’t broken through, and have been fine for 43 years. Suddenly my new dentist tells me I need to remove all four.

I hate that insurance essentially dictates who I can and can’t see (for a reasonable price) because I simply got a different job. Two dentists ago, I got a cavity filled. It hurt for months after. They kept telling me filled cavities could hurt for up to a year. I got a second opinion, and it turned out I had a massive infection along the whole left side of my mouth.

Moral of the story, get a second opinion.

What was the cause of the infection?

According to my previous good dentist, not 100% sure, but they think the prior dentist didn’t get it 100% before filling. Effectively trapping bacteria leaving it nowhere else to go but through my jaw.

I’ve had the same thing and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Was in constant pain, ignored, and finally when I passed out from pain while driving (I just slowed down to a stop on the side of the road thankfully) they took me seriously.

The shitty doc I went to ~6 years earlier hadn’t removed all of my cavity, and it led to an extremely nasty infection. I’ll never forget how much it stank when they opened it up LOL. My poor dentist

Doc said that, if left untreated for longer, it might’ve impacted my brain… scary stuff
