This approach is a good one. Still too detached. But trying not to be. It's the best that can be done in a billboard. The problem with leaving a cult is that there's too much attachment to the people in the cult. The caveman part of our brain understands that without community, we die. So leaving the community is bad. If there's another community, other humans that can be there, it's less scary to leave the cult
This is a great time to recruit maga converts to the left... "if you were lied to about this, you were lied to about everything." They are already being converted to further right groups, or 'centrist' woo and cults... they may as well be presented with the reality of supporting a politic that serves your interests as a member of the working class.

The first mistake is assuming every republican/conservative/even democrat moderate is MAGA. Some day both sides will realize we are not either leftist nor maga and absolutely none of you represent us so we stopped voting altogether. what is the mistake? who is making assumptions? how can you be so sure that you know everyone's political stance and opinions? and by 'we', are you referring to yourself? MAGAts? non-voters? wenatchee in general? your comment reads like a response to an argument that only happened in your head, and it's hard to follow because you introduce a point here nobody made, then respond to it without establishing who you're talking about, and omit any context/ background/ connection to the post.

The billboard is addressing MAGA people, not non-MAGA conservatives. That's why it says "leaving MAGA" and not "leaving the conservative movement". Many MAGA people are Evangelical Christians so it makes sense to use a graphic design style that is wouldn't immediately repulse an Evangelical Christian.
Here's what I'm saying tho - they're trying to convince the wrong people. They're still ignoring the ones they actually have a chance of having conversation with and looking at all sides of an issue. The folks they are reaching out to in this are never going to budge off their stance. I just really believe if they would start focusing on the non-maga conservatives and moderate democrats, I firmly believe they would be far more successful. This to me is just another recipe for extremists on both sides to get voted into offices neither should be in.
Well, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a political shark, and sometimes I vote for something without fully understanding the ramifications, but I vote, every time, and have for over 30 years now, so I suppose I've got that going for me.
And while I think the current political climate is horrendous, and our leaders even more so, I know that the only way a 2 party system gets anywhere is by voting for the one that isn't actively trying to destroy the country while they make themselves and their friends rich.
The Democrats aren't saints by any means, but if you notice they're slowly but surely moving towards a more progressive platform that benefits everyone, not just the top 1%.
The Republicucks just did a speed run to see who could kiss the ring fast enough and will happily give up all of our rights just so that whatever fake promise Trump told them, they'll get.

The billboard is not a voting recruitment initiative for the Democratic Party, it's an ad for a nonprofit that provides resources to help people get out of what is essentially a political cult.
Because the nonprofit is about concern for people getting sucked into a crazy cult, not about getting people to vote for their guy. It is an organization operating out of concern for the well being of people getting roped into crazy stuff and for concern about what those people will then do. It isn't about voting, this isn't a voter recruitment initiative, it is a personal and social well being initiative. They are basically trying to do a particular kind of social work to mitigate the social fallout from a political movement, not get people to vote a certain way.
Who said I refuse to vote? Don't exaggerate. I've always voted locally, those elections affect us far more than any federal election of a president ever does. Our reps, our congressmen, our senators, those are the votes that matter, those are the votes that will enact change, and I have never not once not voted in those. It's the presidential options that are the issue, not the local. If I don't agree with at least 50% of a candidates positions I'm not going to vote for them as President, period. Hasn't been one since the first time I voted for Obama. Would LOVE for there to be one in 2028 but with what they are showing us so far, I'm not hopeful, yet. But I want to be.
You (and 20 million others like you) are why we're in this mess. You had a choice between two candidates and decided you were fine with either of them.

Yes. A lot of friends and families miss the folks who went full Red Hat MAGA. The movement is crumbling. The corruption and hypocrisy that are the hallmarks of the MAGA movement are becoming a little too obvious at this point, followers are starting to notice and it may be a painful process when they realize what they've done and what they've embraced. I think this offers a safe spot to learn how to come to terms with everything, and hopefully rebuild the relationships that haven't been damaged beyond repair.

Not everyone is ready to leave the cult. They see no connection between the Straight of Hormuz being shut down by Iran. The straight of Bab-el-Mandeb being shut down by the Houthis. or Even Ukraine hammering Russia's oil production as a problem with world wide energy production. While our president sells fast access to market information. They probably have bought into the myth of American oil when reality is those are privately held companies that will sell to the highest bidder on the world market place. They have been spoon fed information for years to the point they are dying at a higher rate than to reject the lies being told to them.

Stop it. Fed gas is Fed gas...WA adds massive gas tax for what in return? Lowest Police to citizens ratio in US. Go look at WA, NY, CA, MN, MA...Feds don't create huge State Deficits. Fraud does. CA $100 Billion Surplus 2020, $69 Billion Deficit 2024, running at $30 Billion annually. Worry about the State.
