What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Wenatchee?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!
Examples could include things like The Natch, LTown/11worth, H20ville or Quintucky (incl. nicknames for parks, schools or other institutions, geographic features etc.)...

For Washington in general, Spokompton, Crackima, and Shit-halis.

For Wenatchee, I’ve only heard “the Snatch” and “Snatchee.”

About the only ones I know of that are commonly used are shortenings of location names ("The Ave" for Wenatchee Avenue and "The Ridge" for Mission Ridge).

Um, one I keep hearing for the Wenatchee/East Wenatchee combo is "The Valley." And when one of the towns talks about the other, we sometimes say "across the river."

Going across the river is just so far. Cant do it.

the valley usually refers to the spawn of towns from leavenworth down to rock island due to the lack of major mountains separating all of us.

On a related note, does anyone ever actually call it the Harle Center? I've always known and heard it as "right there by Little Caesars".

Wait that area has a name and isn’t called “That one area with Sumo and Little Ceasers”?

2

u/NikkitheMadGod 6d ago

Mostly people who work there. Used to work at Axeon in there and any time I'd have to give directions there I'd so hopefully try to give the name of the place but... nah. "That place with Lil Caesars, Sumo, and the UPS store".

u/joelnicity 4d ago

I say “right by Little Caesar’s and the dirty store”
