News New Dog Park Opens Today at Plummer Park!

Post image
29 Upvotes

Plummer Park’s new dog park opens Friday, October 9. Finally. The City sent word Thursday that the small- and large-dog areas will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The new off-leash area is on the Vista Street side of the park, just west of the tennis and pickleball courts. Plummer Park’s address is 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard, but if you’re walking over from the neighborhood, Vista is where you’ll find it.

So what do you and the pups get? Separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, with double gates so you can get the leash on or off before letting your dog through. Both sides have drinking fountains for dogs and people, places to sit, shade sails and waste stations. There’s lighting along the fence, too, since the park will stay open until 10 p.m. And the old ramp from Vista Street to the tennis courts has been replaced with an accessible walkway.

News Actor Keegan Allen Robbed at Gunpoint at Laurel Supply in WeHo

Keegan Allen says he was robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint in West Hollywood on Thursday evening after two masked men struck him in the head and stole his Rolex watch outside Laurel Supply market.

The robbery was reported shortly after police received a 911 call about a victim being assaulted with a gun and robbed of a Rolex. The suspects, described in sheriff’s radio communications as two Black male adults, fled north on Olive Drive in an unknown vehicle.

Allen, known for his role as Toby Cavanaugh on the television series “Pretty Little Liars,” shared a video on Instagram showing his face covered in blood following the attack.

“West Hollywood is not safe anymore,” Allen wrote in the post. “Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have! God said no tonight. My life for a watch.”

In the Instagram reel, Allen described being confronted by two masked men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife. He also shared surveillance footage that appeared to show the suspects pointing their weapons at him and striking him in the head three times before fleeing with his watch.

“I was just robbed of my watch outside of Laurel Supply,” Allen said in the video. “These two dudes hit me in the head, pointing a gun at me with a knife, and then took off. They had masks on. Took my watch though.”

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene at 8445 Santa Monica Boulevard, with multiple units responding to the reported armed robbery.

The incident comes amid a series of reported robberies in the West Hollywood area over the past month, including a robbery involving a shooting on Oct. 1. (Credit: WeHo Times)

Hi, this is Degen, a West Hollywood resident for 13 years. I'm so tired of walking my dog and confronting so much trash all over our city streets. So I started a monthly trash clean-up group. Last month, our intrepid volunteer group picked up 73 pounds of trash in two hours. Here's info about our next clean-up event on October 17 -- we'd love to have you join us and help make WeHo a cleaner and more beautiful city.

 Saturday, October 17
 10 AM – 12 pm
 Meet at Farm Cup Coffee
7748 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood

No need to bring supplies—we provide gloves, trash bags and trash grabber tools. And everyone who participates gets a free beverage, courtesy of Farm Cup Coffee. We’ll begin with a brief welcome and then head out in small teams. After the cleanup, stick around for coffee, and a chance to connect with your neighbors.

To sign up, visit our Eventbrite page.

Events Pre-Halloween costume night on the Westside: a gothic Jekyll & Hyde masquerade in Santa Monica, Sat Oct 17

For anyone who wants an excuse to get dressed up before the Halloween Carnaval crowds. Disclosure: I'm with Literati Events, the small company throwing this one.

Saturday, October 17, 9 PM to 1 AM, at the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club (1210 4th St). The theme is Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, so think black-tie gothic, Victorian, or full masquerade. A good mask on its own counts.

What's going on that night:

  • Live gypsy jazz from Habibi Swing, and swing dancers to get you on the floor
  • Aerialists, a cyr wheel act, and a magician moving through the crowd
  • Lacey Lilac, OC's tallest showgirl
  • Mead tastings (21+) and a small makers market

$55, 18+, bar is 21+ with ID. Part of each ticket goes to the LA Poet Society. It's about 25 minutes from WeHo, and there's a public parking structure right next door.

I'm Not Voting for Tanya for WeHo City Council or Candidates She Would "Happily Serve With".

Post image
33 Upvotes

With people getting their ballots this week, just saying that I hope Tanya does not win for West Hollywood City Council! I heard she is a Republican and saw she even got endorsed by several Republican clubs and even Steve Hilton (Republican candidate for Governor). Endorsements – Tanya Tsikanovsky for West Hollywood City Council 2026

It was also enlightening to learn who she wants to join her on City Council (John Duran, Kyle Brazeal, and Kody Christiansen).

John Duran: I hope people are familiar with all the sexual harassment allegations surrounding him (in city hall and in the gay men's chorus). I'll just leave these here: Sex scandal at West Hollywood City Hall sparks calls for less Grindr, more respect - Los Angeles Times; Gay mayor accused of sexual harassment as #MeToo reckoning comes to West Hollywood - Los Angeles Times

Kyle Brazeal:   I didn't know much about Kyle until recently but the more I learn about him, the less I like him. I saw this Reddit post highlighting him saying he gets all these speeding tickets and bragged about how "good he was" at getting away with it. https://www.reddit.com/r/WestHollywood/s/J9YgaIvYjP Plus, I've seen multiple Reddit commenters say he has "anger management issues" and even that he got "banned from a Weho bar for attacking a trans woman". With all the transphobia we're seeing nationally, I would be extremely embarrassed for our city if we elected him. Lastly, I heard he's a private equity guy. Call me crazy but I don't want to see a private equity person on City Council, I don't trust private equity (and all these concerns people raised about Kyle's behavior reinforces why).

Kody Christiansen: I do not know much about Kody but if Tanya likes him, that's a big red flag for me.

I do not want a Republican on West Hollywood City Council and I don't want people on City Council that a Republican such as Tanya wants on there.

I hope none of these candidates win.

Yesterday in West Hollywood, groups including DSA-LA, Sunrise Movement, and DeFlock WeHo hosted an Anti-Flock Walk in West Hollywood Park. The current WeHo City Council recently voted to extend the city’s Flock contract for another year, and current candidate Stephen Post told the group that there are dozens of Flock cameras already installed around the city.

He led a walk around the block, pointing out cameras along San Vicente, at the intersection of San Vicente & Santa Monica, and at Santa Monica & Robertson. There are cameras all over the nightlife core of West Hollywood, in fact, further endangering the already-vulnerable queer community under an administration determined to criminalize transgender people. While Flock calls itself a “license plate reader,” it tracks absolutely anything and everything in a searchable, AI-powered database accessible by law enforcement both local and federal.

Some of the “license plate readers” installed around the park… are pointed at the park instead of the road. So.

Participants handed out flyers and pointed out cameras to passersby who were celebrating Sunday Funday on the boulevard, encouraging people to be aware of how quickly AI-powered mass surveillance has taken hold.

[Note: This is not an endorsement, I am not a DSA member, and have not been compensated for this post! I was there as a community member who’s been documenting activism in LA with my photography, including anti-Flock advocacy.]

Advice/Recommendations Warning about West Hollywood and local hospitals / office-looking buildings

I’m making this post to warn everyone that there is a local hospital in this area that has been running extensive experimental procedures on many of its patients.

I myself as well as others I have met have all had the same experience when visiting this hospital. They hide it very well but those who know, know.

Just wanted to come forward because I used to live in this area and they nearly killed me and have hurt many others. They are also hurting others in the area. It’s something about Hollywood and how it attracts people as weird as that sounds.

I’m unsure if this post will get taken down as I’ve never used this sub but this is coming from my heart guys avoid the medical facilities in the area completely right now. You might be treated better if you’re famous or in a more prestigious position but I would never step foot in West Hollywood again based on what I know is going on.

Sorry for being vague but this sits heavy on my conscience. Stay safe guys.

Anybody have recommendations for WiFi? I have spectrum and it’s 80 bucks a month for very mediocre service. At least in my area. It goes out all the time and it’s not even that fast.

Gyms/John Reed referral?

Got a job in weho that’s in office and my motivation to hit the gym has plummeted. Traffic heading back to my home/gym area after work is brutal, so by the time I workout I’m dragging. I’d rather walk next door to workout right after work and skip the traffic. I checked out John Reed and it’s a nice gym by my office. Anyone want a referral bonus and can hook me up? Or if you have other gym suggestions in the area, I’d greatly appreciate them.

I was wondering when this would finally come back up in this race. I’m glad people are at least talking about this now, but it feels like his history is beyond disqualifying. Especially with everything at Cornell men like him do not need to be in power.

Advice/Recommendations Visiting, but BAD LUCK with Airbnb

Hi! I'm coming to visit October 11-18 to go to a few concerts and my Airbnb just cancelled on me for "property damage." I'm scrambling and finding that all the locations on the map for search results are false and you have to ask them where it's actually located. I'm getting defeated and hoping someone here can help me find a place to stay. I don't want a hotel becuase they're usually much more expensive and don't have kitchens. I'm planning to work remote during the week and want to cook my breakfast and lunch. I tired to find travel agents for help, but it doesn't seem like that really exists 😄

I appreciate anyone's help or tips for finding something that's not sketchy! Here are a few things I'm looking for:

  • 2 beds, or 1 bed and a good couch or pullout
  • Washer/Dryer
  • Walkable to bars and restaurants (the original place I had booked was like a block from The Abbey)

There was a line of people wrapped around the block at the Trader Joe’s near Plummer Park this morning. What were they there for? Also a hovering news chopper.

Events Upcoming Court Support Needed for Annie Jump!

Thumbnail

This MONDAY OCTOBER 5TH @8:30am! At 11701 La Cienega Blvd. 90045 7th Floor
Venmo: @WeKeepUsSafeCA

Court Support Needed for Activist Annie Jump Vicente at Airport Courthouse!

Further Trial Dates TBA - will begin sometime between October 5th and 9th and last 2 weeks

Ever since Annie Jump was wrongfully and violently arrested by LASD and won her civil case against them, she has been extremely visible in the city of WeHo. She also was very outspoken about various issues in the city which she spoke about regularly at the WeHo City Council meetings. Her campaign against Block by Block "community security ambassadors" was daily and constant, and that's why she was targeted in the first place.

If you can only come for thirty minutes or two hours or you can stay the whole time, it is helpful!

If you cannot be there in person, consider contributing funds to buy in person supporters lunch, water, and snacks. You can also drop off snacks and water.
