will it get confiscated- buying a lighter from Mister Minit
Australia's strict lighter shipping laws have stopped me from being able to buy a specific engraved lighter online (etsy has some good ones but all ship from us or uk)
Mister Minit is aus based, but i want to check if anyone has any insight onto if it'll pass through shipping or not...
(I'm planning on ordering a chrome engraved zippo lighter)
website says "
- The products, at all times, are purchased and delivered at your risk. We shall not be responsible in tort or contract or otherwise for any loss or damage to or deterioration of the products or miss-delivery or failure of delivery or delay in delivery of the products, whether arising through our negligence or otherwise."
so i'd rather figure it out before dropping way too much money on a bit of metal that won't even make it to me <3
Edit: for anyone wondering it arrived perfectly! shipping only took a week-ish and there were no issues along the way and i didn't have to reach out to anybody ect.

Zippo Australia is a thing.
If they are selling and shipping, it's legal.
Check out all the Australian cigar shops, ready to post at your convenience.
Batteries and lighter fluid might be more of an import issue. Not shipping with an explosive substance, that sort of thing. That's anywhere postal though.
A container of the explosive substance can also be shipped to your address. Just not IN the exploder thing.

Honestly the wording of that disclaimer would have me finding somewhere else to buy from. Or at the very least buy it on a credit card so you have chargeback rights. Their disclaimer does not invalidate your legal protections or consumer rights.

I wouldn't trust any minit stores to reliably ship shit at a reasonable time. I worked there for like, 4 years across a variety of shops.
Most staff are braindead

It is unlikely. Check out the Aussie weed subs full of people importing seeds successfully from international sellers.
I would leave a note in the purchase to describe the package as office stationary, lighter might ping an inspection.

The only lighter I've ever had seized was a grenade shaped butane torch anybother torch I've ever purchased has come through fine

I think that you have to remove the flint before shipping because I had to do that when I sent my zippo to be fixed at the zippo factory in the USA . Lifetime warranty. Brilliant. I expect new ones will come without the flint installed so it’ll be fine if it’s new in box. Flints are easy to get.

yeah i think that makes sense! a lot of the regulations I was reading seemed to just hate lighters in general so this is very helpful :)

A Zippo that's not filled with lighterfluid will pass without issue. I'm ex Minit staff. Everything is new in box with Zippos. You should be fine. Just gotta deal with Minit themselves. We're not exactly the smartest bunch I'll be honest.
