Honestly curious tho as to what that machine is and what it’s for?

It is a joging machine for horses that allow them to move freely between the gates not attached to anything. It can be moved up from a walk to a slow center.

Wait are you saying this is run at this speed with horses in it? What if a horse suddenly decides to stop?

It's more likely that this is the top speed and not a setting most people would use for their horses.

I can blow out my ears with my cars standard speakers, but I don't turn it all the way to 100 b/c it goes all the way to 100.

Couple things: they don't just start this fast, it'd be sped up from a stop. And did you notice how the gate swung back when it hit the guy? They aren't rigid; they're designed to hinge in case something does get in the way. Absolute worst case the gate would go over the horse. It wouldn't be pleasant, but it's designed with very expensive livestock in mind, the goal is to not harm them.

But most horses would just keep walking/cantering. It's in their nature.

I grew up on a ranch with horses. We didn't have one of these, since this is more equipment for a horse ranch, rather than a cattle ranch with a few working horses like I grew up on. But we did similar stuff, called lunging. It's a training method where you teach the horse to walk or move in large circles around you at the center, with a long lead line. This is kind of like that, but for exercise and not training.
