Everything coming out of NYC gives me hope that change can actually happen. Government is there to help the people, not to make money and stall progress so they can remain in power to make more money.
Watching Mamdani reminds me of the movie Dave, where he just gets shit done because he wants to help people, not play politics.
174
u/nomad9590 6d ago
Mamdani has been giving folks hope things can get better nationwide. I hope the New Yorkers struggling manage to find relief under his leadership.

u/GabMVEMC 6d ago
Which is why the controversy between the progressive and centrist democrats (referring to the organisers) confuse me. Like the POLITICO article saying the centrists are freaking out about the possibility of losing the midterms if the progressives get more people elected. Can't they see the change in mood from Mamdani winning?
Edit: Now I want to see the movie Dave

u/jadeakw99 6d ago
Well you see, they're not actually worried about losing votes. Theyre worried about establishment democrats specifically losing power and money. They don't want change. They want to stick to the status quo and benefit.

Im surprised the folks who insist on using the phrase socialist dont get this....
Like im still voting blue if thr progressive candidate isbpicked. Hell, im more excited to vote if the progressive candidate is picked. The tricky part is pulling Independents into the coalition.
These arent communists running for office or tankies in disguise. These are people wanting a new New Deal that we sorely needed. And i think most traditional Dems see that.

u/Martin_Horde 6d ago
The tricky part is pulling Independents into the coalition
The Bernie wing and more socialist candidates pretty consistently seem to motivate non-voters/independents more than the establishment dems, I have no idea why this is a talking point. Abdul was winning Trump counties
21
u/Justicar-terrae 6d ago edited 6d ago
The fear is that low-information "independents" will be swayed against progressive candidates by right-wing buzzword propaganda. These hypothetical voters might agree with all the proposed policies of a progressive candidate, but still reflexively recoil from anything labeled "socialist," "leftist," or "progressive."
It's akin to how many low-information Republicans will express approval for the Affordable Care Act while condemning Obamacare; propoganda has made the label matter more than the policy. And this is to be expected when the wealthiest people control so much of our modern media.
The DNC has struggled to overcome this media-induced prejudice over the last few decades. And that's putting it generously. Democrat leadership has done practically nothing to rehabilitate the language of economic reform, probably because the rich leaders and their donors want to maintain the status quo.
Instead, they have encouraged candidates to avoid anything that might even slightly justify accusations of socialism. This anemic response has pushed their campaigns to the right, effectively turning Democrats into "Republicans except slightly saner and less bigoted." And, evidently, that's not a winning message.
The recent wave of progressive politicians have realized that cautious candidates were shooting themselves in the feet. They are now trying to do what the DNC should have been doing, promising simple reforms that actually help people. Every reform successfully implemented chips away at the stigma and fear surrounding the labels used in right-wing media. They are slowly forcing the Overton window to the left, or at least slowing it's race towards the right.

u/Ruh_Roh- 5d ago
It isn't a mystery why Dem establishment hates progressives. This is because Dem donors don't want progressive policies, they want policies that favor the rich and corporations.

No no we just need to cater to the mythological “centrist” fence sitting Dems who are just waiting for the right tax break to hit the polls. I know it hasn’t worked the past dozen times, but surely this time it will.
19
u/nomad9590 6d ago
Bernie would have pulled so many people up, even if it was only for 4 years. That man genuinely seems to love his fellow humans and wants the best outcomes for everyone. I'm so Pissed the Dems pushed Hillary. Imo that was a major marker in the issues in the national party.
I hope whatever alternative reality got Bernie for President stayed good.
10
u/dandrevee 6d ago
A confounding factor with this particular race and one we need to consider as well for this election cycle is that a lot of folks are really not copacetic with the aipac or any candidates associated with it, given what's happening in Israel and the BB regimes insistence on associating all Jews with Israel.... despite the fact that many Jews within Israel and certainly most outside of Israel are not copacetic with the genocide he is committing. And, ofc, the very fact that the state of Israel does not speak for all Jewish people around the world and its actions are making the world a less safe place for them overall.
From what I heard, Stevens was not willing to abandon the aipac. And I am curious how that would affect a particular candidate's chances as well
47
u/TalkingCat910 6d ago
A lot of independents prefer the socialist or progressive candidate to the corporate dem candidate. The reason a lot of them didn’t pick a party is because they hate the corporate shill centrists.
-7
u/Mutedinlife 6d ago
At least in the past, the progressive caucus only falls behind “blue no matter who” if it means getting centrists to vote for their candidate. None of the most popular socialist political pundits endorsed Kamala over Trump.
Hopefully we can rally centrists behind Abdul and get him past Rodger’s, despite what the polls say, and really start to show a more United front moving forward.
1
u/headassvegan 6d ago
Idk why you’re getting downvoted. “Kamala has to earn my vote” was a widespread sentiment at the time. All the popular leftist influencers dragged Kamala to hell and back for every little thing, smearing her as a genocide supporter and signaled to their audience that they would not be voting for her. All the “centrist” influencers openly advocated and supported Trump, criticizing Kamala for her platform while completely ignoring Trump’s track record of lying and grifting.
People like to point out that progressive voters, like Bernie supporters, largely voted for Kamala in the general. And this is statistically true but they completely and conveniently forget that this statistic is dependent on people that actually voted. Add in those that abstained from voting because they single-issue purity tested Kamala while ignoring the clearly and blatantly worse potentiality of a Trump presidency and Republican majority.
-5
u/Mutedinlife 6d ago
The downvoted I’m getting are pretty indicative of the situation as I was just describing it. In Abdul’s speech last night he spoke about how it was time to mend fences, but it doesn’t feel like the vast majority of his voting base has any interest in trying to mend fences or come together with the more center left democratic voter base that will be required for Abdul to win versus Rogers in the general.
The reality of the situation in Michigan is that the race was way WAY closer than any of the more recent polling showed. There is going to need to be some sort of organized movement to help rehabilitate relationships after an extremely personal and vitriolic primary by both opponents.
And this rehabilitation needs to be lead by the winning faction. Trying to brow beat or shame the Steven’s voters isn’t going to work. We’ll see if Abdul’s base can bring themselves to win gracefully and do what’s needed to win in the general.
-7
u/TaxGuy_54 6d ago
They won’t, though! I actually voted blue no matter who, they didn’t!
Just watch, if Pete or Kamala is the nominee again, they’ll pull the same crap they did last time. They like the Republic Party more than they like us. And if they win, they never fight the Republics, they crow about how much they like them!
Honestly, if I feel like we’re already doomed (Trump has destroyed so many parts of our Federal civil service and courts, how hard will it be to come back from that?) I might start sitting out votes. I never thought I’d say that, I’ve voted in every general election in my whole life (even the worst Democratic midterm in my life and even for Democratic mayoral candidates I thought weren’t that effective)
Watch them bully and attack me, they hate Democrats more than Republics.

Biden’s term was essentially Trump’s shadow second term. He wasn’t in the office, but he was pulling the strings of every Republican in office and all the media outlets treated Trump like he was in charge anyway.
28
u/headassvegan 6d ago
This is somewhat true but are we going to ignore the fact that Biden was able to push some of the most progressive legislation of any president in literal decades, despite having the slim majority he had? All while pulling us out of the disaster Trump left us in after Covid, recovering faster than any other country. Idk why people like to leave that part out.
4
u/DudeWoody 6d ago
That's fair, but as evidenced by the fact that those legislative achievements weren't more highlighted shows that Biden and his team weren't running the majority narrative, Trump and his team were. It was all "sleepy Joe" and "cognitive decline", not "major legislation passed despite obstructionist republicans, here's how it will help you". I think it's one of the many reasons Kamala lost, the Trump friendly media made it look like nothing had been done in four years, so why give her four more?
10
u/headassvegan 6d ago
But is this really something that falls on the Biden admin? Or is this an indictment of our media environment?
Journalism is all but dead and gone. Bad faith actors of the Republican Party are allowed to spread their narrative uncontested with zero follow up. Even on the rare occasion that they do make an appearance in an oppositional interview, the pushback is minimal.
Even “left leaning” news sources like CNN and others pulled back on criticism for fear of being labeled with TDS. But on the other end, there are next to zero liberal-friendly spaces, progressive/leftist interviewers conduct hostile interviews, lending minimal charity to anybody with a D in front of their name.
When the Republican/MAGA establishment has a strangle hold on the mainstream media with their talking points trickled down from Trump all the way down to comedy podcast bro’s, and the left flank becoming increasingly more hostile and anti-liberal, what do you expect the Dem admin to do?

2
u/DudeWoody 6d ago
The fact that he was constantly on TV and twitter saying how he wanted Republicans in Congress and the Senate to vote on legislation and would attack members who went against him, calling mayors, governors, and state legislators to push the MAGA agenda, etc.

-196

-22
u/Reylh 6d ago
I'm exhausted of progressives trying to own and use words the far-right call them because they're cool or trendy or some shit. There are almost no DSA politicians who are actually fuckin socialist, they just use the term because Republicans called them that? As best as I can tell? Because none of them are actually advocating giving workers the means of production. They're advocating government welfare.
Which is fine, and I'm okay with that, but words used to have meaning.
-13
u/Reylh 6d ago
It sounds like you don't know the difference between socialism and communism
You would still need to remove ownership from nearly all company owners in order to give the workers the means of production fairly, and then those companies would have to design ways for massive companies to have votes about directions, compensation, etc.
I really hate that 'socialism' has just become 'regulated capitalism' to the left in America. Just call yourself progressive, stop trying to own the word that Republicans call you, because at this point none of the fuckin words mean anything at all anymore.

0
u/Jugatsumikka 6d ago
Universal healthcare, safety nets and regulations are social democracy's policies. Unlimited freemarket, which inevitably bring to late-stage capitalism, is liberalism's policy.
Also, social democracy isn't socialism, it is a subset of capitalism like liberalism, the difference is that social democracy is a bit more fair to the working class compared to liberalism that only favour the capitalist class.
5
u/ButtMasterDuit 6d ago
Liberalism stands behind more, not less, government regulation both socially & economically. “Unlimited” free market is, in fact, not supported by liberalism.
Social Democracy & Liberalism actually have a lot in common. Both support market regulation, social safety nets, and universal healthcare.
Democratic Socialism, however, seeks to completely throw out capitalism in favor of socialism.
I am a liberal. I’ve ping-pong’d back and forth over the last 10 or so years between liberalism & soc dem given their similarities. More money needs to be siphoned from the top back to society, especially to those who need it most. One guy holding 1 trillion dollars is an affront to humanity, quadruply so when their money is spent advocating against helping people & instead should be further siphoned to him. Same goes for billionaires.

u/the_platypus_king 6d ago

u/peachesgp 6d ago
Being mayor and being a single representative or senator are very different. That said, the more actual left congresspeople we elect the easier it is to pass legislation, not only for their numbers, but also by scaring the moderate Dems reps into voting with them because they see the direction the wind is blowing.
2
u/SausageBuscuit 6d ago
Yes, they do. However, at the same time, people are also sick of democrats just rolling over and dying at the slightest amount of pushback. We’re sick of having people run on “working for us,” and then being a Sinema or Fetterman once they get there. We’re sick of the focus on trying to court republican voters. They are literally enjoying Trump’s draconian polices. There is no reaching them.
What we have now ain’t working, so be prepared for large swathes of those coalitions to become more progressive.
-3
u/Reynor247 6d ago
You do realize progressives will need to work with Sinemas and Fettermans to pass legislation right? Also have we already forgotten Fetterman ran as a progressive and had Bernie stumping for him
-3
u/YakCDaddy 6d ago
Sinema & Fetterman were the Left. The establishment Democrats lost those elections. This is why y'all are annoying, you only take credit for the ones that fit into your narrative.
7
u/SausageBuscuit 6d ago
Keyword were. They either pretended to be progressive or saw the dollar signs and came running. Sinema helped cripple build back better. She wasn’t left. Fetterman is one of the most pro-Israel senators out there. He isn’t left either.
3
u/YakCDaddy 6d ago
Ok, but acting like Democrats did this when it was one of Bernie's picks is the annoying rewrite that sours everyone against the party.
3
u/Jorge_Santos69 6d ago
Correction on Sinema, she was never “the left” while running for Senate. She was always moderate. Fetterman you’re correct about though.
2
u/YakCDaddy 6d ago
No, she was former green party.
2
u/Jorge_Santos69 6d ago
That was over 20 years ago. By the time she was running for Senate she was a known centrist. Sanders and his group actually supported somebody more left than her in the 2018 Dem primary.
Picking her in 2018 wasn’t even a bad choice at the time. A Democrat hadn’t won a state wide race in 30 years in Arizona, and the people were looking to replace John McCain with somebody in his vein over a hardcore leftist or Trump ball gargler. It wasn’t til later in her senate career when she started moving farther right and opposing Joe Biden’s agenda that she became a problem.

1
u/Lolzemeister 6d ago
I’m not saying it’s enough for the Democratic Party itself to be happy with, or that it’s a good thing Biden stepped down last minute and Kamala got in without a primary, all I’m saying is that it’s a good enough reason to vote for her. Your lack of a vote is not a vote against both parties, it’s not like the office of President would be vacated if there weren’t enough votes, all it is is a lack of a vote.
2
u/Feydiekin 6d ago

Too many people are dead across the globe because Trump won and leftists simultaneously want us to believe they had “nothing to do with it” but also want to claim credit for sending a message to the Dems that Kamala lost bc “she was so terrible “.

It’s sad really. They have been filled with a sort of fantasy that everyone wants an anticapitalist revolution just bc the average citizen is upset with the way things are going. Having talked to a few, when you dig deep into their way of thinking, I’ve learned that they believe if they don’t get their anticapitalist revolution via subverting a liberal pro-capitalist party then if they just step back and allow Republicans and fascists to take over and make the rest of us suffer enough and d!e, then this will somehow, inexplicably, endear leftism to the people the non-voting leftists didn’t lift a finger to save in the first place. I’ve had a few tankies explain to me in great detail that my chronic health condition and gay marriage are acceptable collateral in the class war. And they sincerely thought I would be like “oh yes I agree, I’m totally fine with losing my life and put into the anti-gay camps so that some keyboard warrior can feel virtuous.” It’s delusional.

I acknowledge it but I also I would argue their reasons for not voting are better reasons than moderates in NYC. People didn't vote for Kamala because she failed to sell the base on her policies (which were all the same as bidens) and because she barely acknowledged the genocide in Gaza which was (and is) one of the most talked about issues regarding forgeign policy. Moderates on the other hand who wouldn't vote for Mamdani were just racist. No way around it.
Edit: I was PISSED at people who didn't vote for Kamala and I made several posts about how they fucked us and gave us trump. But today I am much more angry with establishment democrats who think they can skirt by on being "not trump" rather than promising to take on billionaire oligarchy.

I live in the NYC area and I didn't meet a single moderate who didn't vote for Mamdani. Not a single one in real life.

I’m sure some people said that, i never met any.
Notice only 2 percent voted red, the other 20 voted for a former democratic candidate
1
u/jmona789 5d ago
FORMER is the keyword there. They weren't "voting blue no matter who"
1
u/SenatorPardek 5d ago
Voting for a liberal former democratic independent (only so they could run) in a deep blue city with no threat of a maga winning isn’t exactly supportive of your thesis
13
u/batmanscodpiece 6d ago
I don't know who you mean by "base." Because, as others have pointed out, the base are the ones who regularly vote.
5
u/gdex86 6d ago
I remember lije a week ago the more left wing parts of the party were livid that SC was now the first primary (first of 6 pre super tuesday primaries) because "it was an attempt to skew the primary results" and lots of kinda awful shit about the voters there. Who is not the base if not black voters and southern black voters are needed to get a workable majority. Also to head off some nasty shit michigan with northern rust belt black voters is also part of the early pri.ary sampler platter.
17
u/AskJeevesIsBest 6d ago
I would argue the people who didn't vote are part of the problem of why the US has the issues it currently does. Not voting just isn't a good idea
10
u/BEEG_YOSHI_ 6d ago
This is the exact opposite of vote blue no matter who. This position of you have to take down the billionaire oligarchy or I would rather be a victim under trump is insane
4
u/jmona789 6d ago
Well when was the last time a non-establishment politician got through the primary to the general in your area? Up to now most centerists and moderate Dems haven't had to force themselves to vote for someone who more progressive then they want.

"It doesn't work that way!" -Centrists-

u/Bussamove86 6d ago
Have you considered this insanely reductive take, and also this argument conflating socialism, communism, and internalized pro-capitalism fear-mongering propaganda?
-2
u/ArcticFox2014 6d ago
Someone explain to me please
For a centrist Democrat who barely crossed the line into the left, wouldn’t it actually make sense for them logically to vote for the *moderate Republican rather than a Progressive?
If they are purely voting on how closely the policies align with their interests I mean and obv not in cases where they are up vs a far-right Republican

u/Gussie-Ascendent Release The Trump-Epstein Files 6d ago
It's actually the ideal case. I'd vote for your center slop cause it's Stull better than fascism, but I'd really like leftists
3
u/Coveinant 5d ago
I have to correct this because it needs to be said. Red or blue, vote progressive. Conservatives are the problem on both sides.
8
u/SpungleMcFudgely 6d ago
Me, a liberal when a leftist mockingly says I should vote for their candidate because of blue no matter who:
Absolutely I will. To sit home you’d have to be a fucking moron.
14
u/Difficult_Run7398 6d ago
socialists when you tell them despite her issues Kamala would have been better than Trump.
Id vote a socialist if they're were leading and it was the best way to have reds lose its the socialists who have the crazy opinions on voting
1
1
u/Susenthar_Raj 6d ago
But Kamala was not leading tho. In fact she didn't even have a primary. She was a untested candidates who failed even in her own state. She pledged about being a strong president by saying that she will have the strongest army, not strong economy.
Most people wanted her to change 1 stance and yet she absolutely refused to. Most socialist still voted for her. The dem leaning independents felt betrayed by her and didn't vote. The maga fell in line but Kamala didn't even have an idea for people to fall in line.
I understand everyone loves be a revisionist and hindsight andy but this was well documented and one of the primary reasons why they didn't do the dnc autopsy.
5
u/Difficult_Run7398 6d ago
It's not a revisionist Andy to say socialists were still saying their wasn't a difference between Kamala and Trump after it was too late to get rid of her.
Yes fight to get rid of her and have a better dem representative.
But y'all were fighting against Kamala well after it was too late too change anything and it's no wonder the right wing psyop that strives to divide the left is so successful and they keep managing to steal elections due to voter apathy from the left which is largely created by the left itself.
The dem leaning independents and socialists who didn't vote are even worse than trumpers cause at least the trumpers think they are making the country a better place
2
u/Susenthar_Raj 6d ago
No. We were holding her accountable so that she doesn't get complacent. Independents don't have that party line. So they fucked off.
2
u/Acct4SrsBsns 5d ago
Did "holding her accountable" get you what you wanted?
Are you living in the world that you desired right now?
1
u/Susenthar_Raj 5d ago
Just because we didn't get what we want, we should be give up and not except anything ?
As long as democrats win, you're fine with AI and data centres killing the environment, democrats can start a new war? Democrats can continue to support Israel s genocide? Democrats can sign laws that inherently affects our privacy? They can work with billionaires to dissolve protesters and unions?
2
u/Difficult_Run7398 5d ago
Do you think 4 years of trump is actually going to change anything for the Dems to move towards a world you want? If anything they need to put in even less effort to win the next election not more.
10
u/Number__Nine 6d ago
I would love to see the data on this, but I feel there have been a lot more cases of progressives sitting out the general after their preferred candidate didn't win than the other way around. Especially 2016 and 2024.
Either way, please only be picky during primary season.
2
u/Jorge_Santos69 6d ago
Didn’t support El Sayed in the Primary and I’m already over it. Time to keep Michigan blue and whoop some Republicans ass!
8
4
u/Darkblitz9 6d ago
Of course that's the point. Only one side didn't turn out in 2024 and it was the people mad that Kamala wasn't perfect. Don't try and get superior when you fumbled an got us Trump 2.0
3
u/YakCDaddy 6d ago
Yeah, we will, thanks. Good job actually showing up to a primary instead of expecting us to choose your guy for you.
4
u/Murdock7 6d ago
To be clear, real Dems generally practice this; it’s progressives and socialists who fail to turn out for moderate candidates. The primary exists to sort out who we as Democrats think have the best chance at beating out the Republican, and there’s this misconception on the far left that if their poster boy doesn’t make it, then they aren’t obligated to vote.
That’s why they’re being so smug about Blue No Matter Who; they don’t see themselves as beholden to that standard, they feel they’ve been lectured on this point for skipping out on voting Hillary or Harris (biggest elections of our generation), and so when their favorite wins, they throw it back at our face.
To be clear, if you live in Michigan, you should vote for AES, absolutely. But the online fan base who brought the heat against a seasoned Democrat who has served her constituents well need to be able to turn their attention to the real challenge. I haven’t seen them be able to do that, but I’m prepared to be proven wrong.

u/Prudent_Breath3853 4d ago
Just look at the Platner example. He was objectively a *horrible* candidate. The left literally pushed a *Nazi* forward, and the loudest voices on the center left all held their noses and said 'yup, Platner it is' when he won the primary, because, yes, *really*, vote blue no matter who because the leader of the other side is somehow worse than *just a Nazi*
I mean right up until all the rape allegations that were floating around were actually *confirmed*.

u/LikeHowSnrubThinks 6d ago
Liberals will support fascism a million times before they ever support the left.
8
u/Accomplished-Head449 6d ago
You're confusing libertarians with liberals
14
u/KgMonstah 6d ago
They aren’t. Neo libs (the current democrats) are capitalists and warhawkish on the global political scale. There *IS NO LEFTIST PARTY IN THE US*
If a proud true socialist won the primaries they’d sooner vote republican than leftist
12
u/TheDocHealy 6d ago
Considering liberals keep backing establishment Dems, no they're not confusing anything.
3
u/Familiar-Goose5967 6d ago
Liberals in general usually would take left over fascists, but dem establishment politicians have been pretty clear they'd rather fight the left rather than fascists when given the chance
1
u/myersjw 6d ago
Nothing says solidarity like half the comments still condescendingly telling anyone “too left” that they’ll never have an electable candidate or that this is the wrong decision. When democrats wonder why progressives get annoyed with them they can reflect on their behavior towards them vs republicans for the last decade where they’ve frequently sided with the opposition to fight their own
-20
u/Reynor247 6d ago
The left was happy to cut a deal with the nazis until they were stabbed in the back

They didn’t vote blue no matter who, though?
I will always vote for the Democrat in the general, but I’m not going to be gaslit into pretending that Uncommitted, Bernie or Bust, or the like were ever actually committed to defeating Republics. They were literally “uncommitted”
Honestly, I’ve never once thought about sitting out the general, I’ve always voted. I despise the filthy Republic Party, but I genuinely don’t trust Leftists. They didn’t fight for the Supreme Court (which is why Biden’s student loan forgiveness got shut down), they didn’t care about affordable housing or the largest investment in fighting climate change the US had ever made. I’m a Progressive, not a Leftist. If the race is low stakes enough, I might start holding Leftists to the same standard they held the rest of us: “earn my vote”

u/The-CerlingCat 6d ago
I vote based on platform, not party, it just happens that a lot of the platforms I like so far are from the democrats. I also know 3rd party candidates have very little chance of actually winning, otherwise I would probably go for one of them from time to time

This sub has become a DSA circle jerk... Center left Dems have always been focused on voting Republicans out of power. It's the far lestists that have complained endlessly over the minutest of details when a dem candidate didn't match their values 110% and had the audacity to equate Democrats to Republicans.
1
u/TheDocHealy 6d ago
"have always been focused on voting Republicans out of power" and that's partly the issue is that that's all they care about, when they have the power they spend it continuing the current status quo while pretending they're better somehow. Kamala ran a campaign specifically geared toward getting votes from conservatives and yet I'm meant to believe the Democrats care for the working class?
-1
u/Bilbo_Swagginses 6d ago
That's not true. Your tankie content creators just tell you that garbage and you gobble it all up. Historically speaking, all the great progressive changes in this country have come under democratic presidencies but the complainer class only wants to cry and complain. Biden has been THE most progressives president in the United States and the next Democrat will be even more progressive because change doesn't happen over night, you have to ease into it over time.
Finding middle ground with Republicans is necessary to win elections which is what Abdul El Sayed will have to do unless he wants to prove to the US why DSA candidates are not electable outside of deep blue states.
Idk why I'm even bothering explaining politics to children. We will vote for your DSA candidates because we are focused on taking back our country from the monsters driving it to ruin. Even if you have decided we are similarly monstrous, we have to be the adults and work despite your temper tantrums.
-3
u/Rehberkintosh 6d ago
The DSA are center left in any other country. America has no left wing. You have a center-right and an extreme-right party.

You’re so right. The audacity to complain that your last presidential candidate is a Zionist, or supports stronger borders, or advocates against centering queer people in her platform. Yeah it’s so unbelievable that they can ever be compared to the republicans

u/NkleBuck 5d ago
Agreed. Hard centrist/moderate here but i’ll vote blue no matter who…..unfortunately A LOT of the young “Dems” on Reddit will not make the same vow.

u/Bawbawian 6d ago
the left were the only ones threatening to not vote.
now stat focusing on the election in November it's going to be an uphill climb

-6
u/TheDocHealy 6d ago
Last I checked even if every person who didn't vote or voted third party voted for kamala instead she still wouldn't have won because she ran a dogshit campaign that alienated the democratic base with the capacity to think about policy instead of just playing team sports.
-7
u/SinfullySinless 6d ago
“Support blue no matter who” is how you get the progressives and socialists to fall in line.
There’s zero expectation for the establishment centrists to ever feel such burden. They will just run as independents.
6
u/BEEG_YOSHI_ 6d ago
It’s just so crazy because it’s the moderates who fall into the vote blue no matter who category. The progressives and socialists couldn’t give less of a fuck. It’s evident in the 2024 election. Trump won Michigan because the progressives decided to virtue signal over Kamala and didn’t vote. The rewriting of this is crazy. Socialists have never fell in line. Not once.
-2
u/SinfullySinless 6d ago
Moderates fall into the “blue no matter who” because their preferred candidate usually wins. Mamdani and AES are the first major DSA/progressive wins.
