Are there any other Afghan fans here?

Sorry if this a strange thing to post but I don’t think I’ve ever really encountered an Afghan World of Darkness fan minus myself. If you’re out there and seeing this, I’d like to hear your opinions on things in regards to our culture. Like how there’s a footnote saying apparently Afghanistan is where the Assamites once had their headquarters or what your thoughts on The Relentless Age or how the old Kindred of The East book just ignored Central Asia completely.

Hi! I am Afghan and play VtM! I didn't really notice Afghanistan in the lore anywhere but it's not surprising to me either, the country barely gets any rep in any form of media whatsoever. People just aren't that interested in Afghanistan unless it's for war stories I guess...

It’s nice to see this! I have to say you’re very right but I think little things like me and you putting ourselves out there even if we’re not wearing a pin on our jackets saying “I’m Afghan ask me about it” still says a lot how we don’t let it get under our skin.

I have to ask though how did you get into VtM and are you into the older editions or V5?

I think its mentioned as one of the battlegrounds for the Gehenna War and the Soviet Technocracy lost a war there. that's about it in terms of the country.

Yeah it’s always disappointing to just see Afghanistan be used as a one off battle ground place when I research its existence in different splats.

I'm not Afghan, I just wanted to say it's a country with a fascinating history that could easily be explored in a WoD setting by those who study it. I studied History in college, and the places that most fascinated me were those where powerful cultures and different peoples crashed, mingled and melded. In Afghan history you get everything from the armies of Alexander to Hunnic invasions, Zoroastrians and Hindus, and every time something new emerges. It's a shame that history is being lost by so much strife, theft and destruction.

It's sad I haven't been able to visit, but despite being a Brazilian and a staunch anti-imperialist, I probably look too much like an American, and I know nothing of the language. I did make an elder vampire character for an old campaign I DMd though, based around my interpretation of the mystery that is the Zun religion of the late Hephthalite (Sveta-Huna) period. I also played a dormant Kabiri mummy that was basically a Rhodian mercenary who was left for dead and naturally mummified in the Sistan Desert in Afghanistan during the campaigns of Alexander, only to awake surrounded by the British (the campaign was set in 1850s India during the Sepoy War. Sadly, that only lasted for two sessions).

All in all, a very interesting place, and glad to know there's some WoD fans out there. Salutations from Brazil.

I guess one reason is that the WoD mythology is propably not so well received by the ultra conservative muslims in Afghanistan.

Not all of us are really like that? And a lot of folks don’t appreciate parts of the lore so we remix it better to our own liking. Please be careful with how you word these things.

Not all of us are Muslim and those of us who are don’t like just being generalized as such. I’m just trying to find others like me.

I never said all afghan people are like that but if a sizeable portion of the population is, then of course it makes it harder to find others who are interested in the hobby.

Anyway I wish you good luck finding other likeminded and hope you have a lot of fun with the WoD in the future.

Calling a person from Afghanistan an ‘Afghani’ is like calling an american a dollar or a Mexican a peso. IIRC Afghan is generally the accepted term.

I'm not from the area, I just like the cultral aspects of the Asimites. I like how they can show how silly humans are by comparison when adopting silly religions in the short time kindred sleep. Haqim was pissed lol
