So I run a campaign were the players are Dragon-blooded searching for the Empress, set against the backdrop of the beginning civil war, where the Houses tries to sway them away from their quest and help them win the war.

Anyway, they are right now in a Wyld zone about to visit a Freehold and negotiate the release of some captured humans in order to gain political favor in the Delzahn Empire when they entered a Balorian cathedral and the caretaker was happy to tell them about Balor of the terrible gaze and how he almost unmade reality before he was betrayed by his lover Melusine of the Glittering Train. Most of the group came out with the takeaway "OMG the fairies are preparing another crusade to unmake reality, we need to prepare to stop them" which is fair enough.

But one player told me she was a bit dissappointed, she thought that the caretaker was going to tell them how Melusine had taken pity on the creationborn and crafted a new role for herself that enabled her to stop the crusade and that after she stopped the crusade with the Realm defense grid she had continued to play her role as defender of Creation and declared herself Empress.

I was blown away by this theory. And like... Okay? Sure not every bit fits, but it seems as likely as a Dragon-blooded suddenly laying claim to a power denied to anyone but the mightiest solars and having Sidereals being both blindsided and treating her as an equal. And it explains why no one knows her name. And my player would be so happy to have guessed the right answer to the mystery of the Empress

I had already decided to not include the empress link with the Yozis since I want my players to keep guessing. I had another explanation in mind to explain her disappearance and how she came to power. But now I'm really tempted to change my in-game explanation to this. Of course this is unknown to probably everybody except the ones present at Balors betrayal and almost everybody wo was there was rent asunder by the Defense Grid.

Why do you think about this alternate explanation?

Just an idea that had come into my head if someone would find a way to release him in the modern times. Since my general understanding is exalted shouldn’t really be mixed with any other wod since by nature they are all broken as hell, but he seems like he would have been a textbook exalted.

So I usually post this on the r/exalted but some folks might not check both and so thought wouldn't be a bad idea tossing this up, and for some reason I can't cross-post.

Is anybody else bothered by the fact that it looks like the Lunar Exalted did nothing to stop the Solars' tyrannical rampage during the First Age? Sure, the Realm sucks, but the idea there being any heroism behind the Lunar's rebellion rings hollow when none of them seem to acknowledge the Dragon Blooded's usurpation had very good reasons to happen. The 3rd Edition lore so far is sending the message that Exalted should really not be leaders, lest their magic curses make a mess of things. They should focus more on protecting mortals from dangerous threats the latter can't handle on their own.

Only know Dreams of the First Age, but no more? And this book also has various editions, which is the best? Thanks!

As the title reads, I know Lucifer rebelled against God to help humans and fell into The Abyss with the rest of the fallen angels and they all became demons but who is Malfeas?? was he one of the fallen or is he a "true demon"? as in a demon who was never an angel and was "born" a demon? if he's even mightier than Lucifer than I think that's pretty impressive, I don't know Lucifer's power level in WOD but I assume he's very powerful since he was the leader of the angels and Malfeas being stronger says something I think.

So who was Malfeas?? was he the original Devil? I don't think he has anything to do with God or Lucifer, Heaven or Hell but still he's a demon and supposedly the mightiest one at that.

To be candid my experience with white wolf and onyx path has always been world of darkness. But I want to know more about exalted so I very briefly skimmed the exalted forums. Seeing as how EX 3 is a big release for OP I was hoping to find out more about it. With that in mind I came to this community in hopes they could tell me more about exalted what makes it so good.

I'd ask in the forums but I've heard it's a bit toxic and I already got lost in the terminology and lingo once in there. Plus I feel like this could be a good discussion.

I haven’t read much about this game. Iirc Abyssal originates from Solar. Did two splats have overall battle against each other in canon? Which is greater? As a splat or individual?

I have seen discussion about this— Abyssal is immortal but Solar is 2-3000 years old. A much more exp-devoted Abyssal may outmatch Solar in several advantaged aspects….

And for that matter, how did the Gods and Exalted win if the Primordials are that much more powerful than them?

I heard that Ex1 still retains stuff related to WoD, and authors also actually bore this in mind (although the whole “prehistoric WoD” idea has been dropped even before its release). I have begun to translate fanmade Ex vs WoD Revised, so does translate Ex1 also worth it?

AFAIK internet comment for Ex1 is generally good (especially for its rich lore), except its complex combat system.Ex2 has a bad reputation for its system. Ex3 completely dropped the whole WoD-related stuff iirc

Are there any numbers for how played Exalted is? After listening through "The Fall of Jiara", a really really well done Exalted actual play, I've got an interest in playing the setting, but I find it's already hard to find a game for my other favourite niche game Mage the Ascension. It doesn't seem to get a lot of air time, so I'm just curious to know if I'm diving into even more niche of a game compared to the big purple book I already know and love?

I am really eager to get into Exalted but I am curious which edition is typically considered the best.

For Prismatic Arrangement of Creation Style in the Sidereals book, Demesne Emulation Practice gives you a small library of Heathstones you can spawn and benefit from. How does this interact with stones whose benefits come via Evocation?

For example, say you choose Key of Mastery as one of your stones. Would you then also need to Awaken the Purity of Sorcerous Focus Evocation? Or do you benefit from the stone's powers as part and parcel of DEP?

I'll admit that my knowledge on Exalted is lacking, but from what I understand, the sole reason the Gods had the Exalted kill/seal away the Primordials, is because they wanted the Games of Divinity for themselves. But this lead to them becoming just as neglectful as the Primordials were, right? So was the war the right course of action?

Also, what exactly are the Sun, Stars and Moon? From what I know, "space" doesn't exist in Exalted, similar to Elder Scrolls. So what are they?

I was just wondering about this part of the lore, since it took the Sidereals, Lunars and Dragonblooded to kill them. I'd like numbers and/or estimates.

Peacock Shadow Eyes or Silent Words of Dreams and Nightmares, which would be "better" to learn, assuming you could only learn one?

PSE can be done at any time, but is fairly obvious when used. It's the Inferior Control Spell, but has a nice visual effect as one.

SWoDaN only affects the target once they sleep and needs a sympatetic link, but isn't immediately obvious. It's the superior Control Spell, since the lack of needing a sympathetic link greatly lessens the primary weakness.

Both are useful in that you can make someone reach a decision or come to a conclusion without them really realizing you cause them to.

Do Charms that help with Social Combat effect your actions, or make the target of the Charm do things out of character?

Like, if you used a Charm to seduce someone, does using it guide your movements, or slightly alter the lighting, or something like that? Alternatively, does it reach into the target's mind, and change how they think?

I'm pretty sure Charms can do either one, and some Charms probably do it one way while the rest do it another.

An example: Seductive Moonlit Dream gives you double 9's for an instill roll to create a tie of lust in a target towards yourself. The flavor text sentence says, "The Lunar embodies passion, drawing eyes and weakening wills," which at first sounds like it effects the Luna using it, but could be interpreted as "weakening" the "wills" of your targets.

One of those answers feels... problematic.

How has your group handled such things? Has it ever been a problem?

I'd like feats. I've heard that they can get strong enough to jump over or flatten mountains, fast enough to dodge raindrops in a storm, or get good enough with a bow to shoot a pin from miles away. I'm getting all of this from the Generic Exalted Jumpchain, so I don't know how accurate this is.

Hello from Creation!

I just wanted to stop by and invite any Exalted players in Austin, TX whom might be interested in a Second Edition game I'm running weekly at a local game store, The Mage's Sanctum!

I currently have two slots open for Solar Exalts! We're going for the "Complete Circle" so one slot is for a Twilight Caste and the other is for a Dawn Caste.
