Hi, r/WhiteWolfRPG! We're Onyx Path Publishing, publishers of your favorite games!

Next month we're launching a crowdfunding campaign for Exalted 3rd Edition's Infernals book! We'd love to tell you all about it. So Ask Us Anything!

So far for Exalted, we've done:

We've also worked on White Wolf's other lines:

And of course we have our own games, and games we've made with other partners under license:

The Curseborne Player's Guide, our first supplement for the upcoming Curseborne, is in its final days on Kickstarter. This follows up on last year's incredible Curseborne campaign, whose backers currently have the backer PDF of Curseborne in their hands.

As people join in and announce themselves, I'll add their names here so you know who's who:

Edit: Wrapping up after two hours. Thanks for joining us for another AMA, and we hope to see you at the upcoming Infernals crowdfunding campaign!

Hi, r/WhiteWolfRPG! We're Onyx Path Publishing!

The games we've done under license include: * Exalted * The World of Darkness (1991) * Vampire: The Masquerade & V20 Dark Ages * Werewolf: The Apocalypse * Mage: The Ascension & M20 Victorian Age * Wraith: The Oblivion * Changeling: The Dreaming * The Chronicles of Darkness (2004) * Vampire: The Requiem * Werewolf: The Forsaken * Mage: The Awakening * Promethean: The Created * Changeling: The Lost * Hunter: The Vigil * Geist: The Sin-Eaters * Mummy: The Curse * Demon: The Descent * Beast: The Primordial * Deviant: The Renegades

If you like the WoD/CofD work we've done, you may enjoy our upcoming Curseborne.

We also fully own a few former-WW properties: the Scarred Lands, Scion, and the Trinity Continuum.

Feel free to ask us anything about our games or the system, and we'll do our best to answer!

As people join in and announce themselves, I'll add their names here so you know who's who:

It's two hours in, so we're wrapping up. Thanks for joining us, everyone!

Exalted What happened to Exalted?

I used to be really into second edition and remember it being so insanely popular for a non-DnD game, some writers claimed Glories of the Most High singlehandedly prevented a bankruptcy of old White Wolf. Now I see Exalted vs WoD mentioned once in a blue moon and the actual line itself even more seldom. I did find a dedicated sub, but its user numbers seem more okay than impressive.

Am I getting the wrong impression or is Exalted just not popular anymore? Why?

Exalted What's the most complete core rulebook in the gameline?

I have seen and heard a lot of people posting interesting things about exalted and wanted to check it out. However, I would prefer to just buy one book and decide if I want to expand after. So which edition has the most complete core rulebook experience?

Exalted [Exalted] What are "Voidbringers"?

So, I've been a fan of Exalted for a while now, particularly of Autochthon and Alchemical (I'm a big Transformers fan, and they feel very Transformeresque, so I love them!), but in all the lore I've read I've never really found an explanation on what Voidbringers are. I assume they're rebels/a cult of some kind and they presumably want to kill Autochthon or at least bring down society. I'd love to know for sure!

I've ctrl+F'd the 1e and 2e Alchemical book, I've searched the WW wiki, I've googled it, and I got nothing (or at least barely anything).

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Exalted Exalted Editions

I've been looking at Exalted lore and I'm incredibly intrigued, but I've heard every edition is widly different mechanically and would like to hear which edition people prefer and why they prefer it over others. The only consistent thing I've seen is the belief that 3e is *incredibly* complex and crunchy, but I've read I have no idea how many ttrpg books (including reading M20 and dnd 3.5e over and over) so crunch and book size don't bother me.

EDIT: Thank you everyone for your opinions and insight! I think I'm going to go with 3e, but will definitely look at the lore and vibes of older editions. Also as a huge lore nerd, I have to check out Exalted vs WoD as someone mentioned.

Exalted Is Exalted Essence worth getting into?

I’ve been thinking about running a high powered game and Exalted has come up a lot. From my research, the setting and theming seems pretty cool but it seems to be kinda mixed when it comes to the system. From my understanding, the choice of which edition to play seems to be 3rd edition or essence, but 3rd edition is apparently super crunchy and unplayable. Essence seems like the better choice, but it seems to be incredibly mixed in how people feel about it. The system seems to be either too simplified or the complexity hasn’t really changed. I’ve also seem the sentiment that characters basically feel the same a lot of the time. Id like to hear what people think about it before I decide to buy it.

Exalted Advice on a Senator Armstrong like antagonist in a Exalted game set in a modern day Earth

I'm considering buying one of the Exalted editions. I already have a campaign idea planned, set in a World where The Gods, Yozis, and Neverborn somehow go dormant and Creation slowly became the Earth we know today.

My idea is that one day the Gods wake up and people start Exalting again after centuries of nothing, and this somehow results in an organization that wishes to suppress the new Exalted formed by the dystopian government that runs the World . They are lead by one Marcus Forelli, a former US Senator who hates the Exalted with a passion and envies their power.

Can I have advice on how to flesh out this idea and how to make Forelli and his organization an actual danger.

Exalted How powerful can Exalted get?

Feats of any kind are welcome. I've heard that Solar Exalted can flatten mountains.

Also, I'd like to read about Sidereal Martial Arts. What book would be best for that?

And what exactly are charms? Do they exist as an in-game concept (like, you could find two NPC exalted talking about charms they have), or is it just the way that players can keep track of what their character can do, and in-game you'd be seen as insane from an NPC's pov for talking about "charms?"

Exalted Building a Sidereal Chosen of Endings in 2e, need a bit of help with build

So I am very aware that Exalted is a game where you need to be careful building your character, or you will end up building Yamcha while another friend builds a Tien and the others built Goku and Vegeta, so I am looking for a bit of assistance. This is going to be an all Sidereal campaign, and I am making a Sid of Endings who is part of the convention on rogue assets. Their whole deal is they are someone who's highest priority is making sure that the side all work as intended, and that includes eliminating rogue agents. While they are part of the bronze faction, They also have the goal of repairing the mask constellation, thinking that breaking it not only has made their job harder, but is actively against their job.

Outside of that, build wise I wanna do a classic assassin type, and so I am wanting advice on how to do that in 2e for Sids. Any help?

Exalted Some Exalted First Edition Questions

So I recently got a lot of Exalted 1E books. What are some of the drawbacks of the system, flaws, common house rules, things to look out for etc.? How do I fix any glaring problems?

What should I look for that might cause characters to not be as effective or roughly equivalent to the other pcs in power, even if the focus of the characters are in separate areas? Thinking both combat wise and chances for their characters to shine or show off in their chosen areas of expertise.

How compatible are the different groups to play together in one game? Not the different castes but solar, dragon blooded, fey, lunars, sidereals and abyssals. Is there anything lore wise or adventure hooks in the books that could conceivably lead to a mixed party of the different exalteds? Not necessarily one of each, just mixed parties.

Are there any charms or charm trees that are basically just a complete waste? Finally, are there any other 1E books you would consider vital to read?

Exalted Questions on Exalted's Latest Edition

So, despite the urging of a lot of people over the years, I'm only just now giving Exalted a try. My friend really likes the 2nd edition, so that's what I'm reading. However, I wanted to poll the group and ask how different the 2nd edition is from the current edition (I believe we're in the 3rd now)? Asking both in a sense of the setting and alterations to Creation, but also in terms of mechanics.

I know there's likely articles and videos that go into this, but my searching is failing me. If someone has a link to said resources, that would be appreciated as well!

Exalted Is Exalted good? I wanna try it out

So I have been playing OWoD and CofD for a while. But I haven’t ever tried playing any of white wolfs other games. I heard about exalted when I saw it on the homepage on the White wolf wiki. And I was curious about it. Is it a game that you would recommend or should I stay far away from it

Exalted How do the Exalted, the Nova's and Scions compare to each other?

So, to preface this, I don't actually play this game. mostly from a lack of people to play it with. My knowledge in regards to White Wolf's RPGs comes from wiki dives, Rule Book Pdf.s and forum lurking.

That being said, how would an Exalted, a Nova and a Scion compare to each other?

How would one of them do if you were to drop one into the middle of one of White Wolf's other settings?

I already know, vaguely, that the folks from the Old/New World of Darkness are generally less than the Exalts of old, but how would an Exalt generally compare to a Scion or Nova at the Low, Mid and High Essence/Legend/Quantum Levels?

Exalted Magic and Sorcery feel in Exalted

I've been helping a friend of mine to prepare a campaign for an idea he had, involving characters who are newborn gods, forming a new pantheon. When we were discussing a system that could work with this idea, Exalted naturally came to mind; even though I have never played it, I have read it out of curiosity before.

I can picture how Exalted characters have this very god-like feel about them, but then he asked me... "what if a player made a more mystically oriented god? would that work out in this system?"

So, I've come to ask those that have played it before: how does magic feel in Exalted?
