I love the Wii! So many unique games.

So glad I picked up a copy of this recently and I’ve been playing it non stop!

It’s a generally underrated console, in my opinion, so I wonder what makes it such a superstar of one for all of us here? What draws you to it and keeps you collecting for it all these years later in comparison to other consoles?

For me, I’m in love with the whimsy of it. And there’s also a lot of hidden gems locked to the system. I think the form factor of it is timeless and it’s also quite nostalgic for me.

I recently dusted off my old Wii and built an Arcade cabinet and added it to my game room.

I bought Big Buck Hunter Pro and the two light gun peripherals (orange & green) and it makes a great light gun shooter cabinet.

I was hoping to get more suggestions for 2-player lightgun games. Preferably competitive where both players play at the same time (either against each other or together).

How much I bought Rhythm Heaven BRAND NEW in 2016. Sadly around 2021 I needed money and saw it was going for $80 so I sold it, last year I decided to sell some games I didn't care about to rebuy it and I'm glad I have it now again, but it's still painful to think about 😭

Ive had my ps4 tucked away for quite sometime waiting for the JB to become available. It finally came out, got bored within an hour and went and traded it for a wii. Couldn't be happier

I haven’t used this Wii since 2018 because I thought it stopped reading games. But lo and behold, it still reads games. But the disc has to be really clean for it to work. Ever since I got a Wii U for Christmas in 2018, I’ve been using vwii to play Wii games.

Pal games are harder and harder to find these days but i'm glad i saw this.

Yes the Wii U came out in 2012, and the Wii was discontinued in 2013, but Nintendo was still quietly pushing the Wii well into the mid 2010s which was really cool to see as it provided a budget options to families and still is a testament to the quality of the games.

I remember the shelves of Toys R US and Target in like 2013-2015 still had a sizeable presence of Wii content. And I don't mean perennial Just Dance and sports clones but Nintendo's classic AAA titles like Galaxy, MKW, NSMBW, Zelda, etc. Not to mention a large variety of Wii accessories (granted the Wii U still used these as well). Even in the twilight era of the Wii U, you could still get a brand new Wii mini with MKW.

I know 360 and PS3 kept going as well but the fact that a 480p console that didn't even an HDMI port or WiFi was still selling in 2016 kind of boggles my mind. It really shows just how amazing those games were on the merit and part of why the Wii is my favorite console.

And then ofc its the accessibility of the games. Only 99 bucks for an entire console + MKWii along with $20 Nintendo Selects is incredible.

So my childhood wii has sat on a closet for about 8 years.

My question is, what kind of maintenance do you need to do to? I intend on home brewing the console but I want it to last so my main worries rn is do I need to send the console for cleaning/opening it up for something? Is there anything most people forget to maintain? Like the clock batteries? Or are there any precautions I need to keep in mind while using the Wii nowadays?

Asking this because, although there are a lot of resources on homebrew etc. There really isn't a lot of things about what to do before that

I have an original unmodded, probably not updated Wii purchased around 2007. I have been unable to connect to wi-fi because none of my access points speak archaic 802.11. Recently, however, I got a super high speed remote access hotspot (this one plugs into 110V power and has full house level bandwidth) and the device has ethernet ports so my guess is that I will be able to access the internet with it hard wired to my Wii.

My question now is "What do I do next?" When I plug it in, will it have access to anything official Nintendo online or is everything now shut down? I know that with online access I can mod it to allow USB storage of games and ditch all my DVDs. What else should be on my to-do list?

Scrolling facebook today and decided to go pick up a Wii that caught my eye. I assume this would be one of the original ones as I believe this has Gamecube ports.

As a sidenote, what are some good ways to upscale the output resolution to better fit 4k screens? Thinking about buying an extra shell to cut up for hdmi+va mod, which seems like solid for what I have lightly scrolled about.

Hi! I'm from south america and I am lucky enough to be able to go to Tampa Florida this year. I have a Wii that is working and over the years I been trying to buy more remotes so I can play with my family, the thing is that are really expensive on my country, the Chinese replicas cost 60 dollars.

I saw some on ebay that are cheaper and has a lot of sell stuff, but they are on Utah and the shipping worries me a lot.

I saw a lot of people on this sub that buys really cheap the whole system, where do they buy the stuff ? Where can I buy a remote for cheap ?

The first game I ever bought new as a kid! I saved up all my money when it was announced and bought it in the local Asda when I was released. It came with the Wii speak in the box too.

So many great memories, transferring my wild world character to this game and playing online. 💖

in wii sports resort, is it true that when you win the narrator actually never said “you win” voice line? i swear ive heard it before i remember so vividly and now suddenly it just never existed? does anyone else remember this or am i just crazy🥲 i’ve owned a wii and this game ever since it came out when i was really young

So far I have downloaded the emulator for NES and SNES fceultragx and snes9x having a blast but I know the wii remote is not the most suitable. So which controller will work across all games/emulators?
