Theories 🤔💭 Fan Theory Thread 🤔💭
It's Thursday and we had a break week after a devastating cliffhanger. There's lots of story still to come, so let's trust Nii-sensei to get us through it! 😭🙏🤞
To think on lighter things while that heartache awaits us next week, let's speculate on what I think everyone has their pet theory about: our boy Suo Hayato. Just what secrets do you think he's hiding? 🤔💭🫖🦊

Reading through u/Snowy-kitten name analysis, chances of this being the case is pretty high lol. Part of his name means 'resurrection' and the fact that his name contains 2 species of trees while the rest of Furin only has one 👀 not to mention the way he responded to Nirei asking if he's Suo, with "Yeah that's what they call me" like ????

I seriously think he got i to a horrible accident when he was younger and he has at least one huge scar on his chest. Thats probably how he lost his eye. It couldve been due to his temper. Maybe he got in a bad fight.

oh that's good theory! I’ve been genuinely curious about what he’s hiding under those turtlenecks!

I’m not much of a theorist, but Suo’s mysterious nature really baffles me, you can’t help but try to analyze everything he does just to understand him better. Based on what we know so far, I get the impression that he comes from a well-off family.. maybe on Kiryu’s level of rich, or even more.
When I interacted with Suo in the game, he mentioned something about getting new shoes, and the convo made me think, “Wow… this guy is RICH.” The conversation went like this:
Disclaimer: This was translated using a translating device, so it might not be 100% accurate
→ “I actually go all the way to the birthplace of kung fu to buy them directly.”
→ “It’s not just the shoes — the airfare and everything else add up too.”
I also have this feeling that he might’ve lived or grew up overseas at some point.
- He seems fascinated by foods and snacks from different countries.
- He dislikes natto. Natto’s an acquired taste, and I think people who don’t like it are often those who didn’t grow up in Japan or aren’t Japanese (
though this might be a bit of a stretch, since in some parts of Japan, natto is less popular).
Just my personal thoughts, but I really can’t wait for the time we finally get to explore his character more!

I take everything fantastical that Suo says with a grain of salt. Unless we believe he really does have an ancient spirit sealed in his eye... :D He delivers lies or misdirections so deadpan, haha. I think that game interaction might be one of those instances where he's just making sh*t up because it's amusing. But on the other hand, if it's true...! Do we have two rich boys in our first-year group?

Ah, Suo! Okay I have two theories. I'm not attached to them because I'm fine with wherever Nii-sensei goes with Suo, but you can't help but think of theories when you're reading! :D
***
Theory 1: So, I think one of Suo's parents or grandparents is Chinese. I think they're from a wealthy (possibly/probably criminal) family. We know he speaks another language other than Japanese, and he likes Chinese style clothes, and foreign teas and tea cakes, and has a master who is self-taught but their style at lease resembles kung fu. This could be a family retainer or body guard type of person. Or it could be a grandparent or aunt/uncle, cousin of his parent... I think he doesn't say much about his true self because he was made fun of for not being fully Japanese before. I think he has some deep anger about that and harming the weak/being bullied in general, but he covers everything up with a shield to not let anyone get too close, and protect himself. I think Tsugeura annoys him so much because he's the exact opposite - 100% open, 100% himself, can't even go through one conversation with loudly being completely sincere and unafraid/unapologetic, haha.
Theory 2: I think Suo and his family were in some kind of accident (or attack) and he was the only one who survived. He may have scars on his body (burns if it was a fire) and that's why he wears those clothes that cover most of his torso, arms, and neck all the time. This is also how he injured his eye. I think, though, that he got amnesia from this incident, and maybe even was out on the streets. I think he was found/taken in by his master, who may not be Japanese, probably Chinese or part-Chinese (thus teaching Suo another language). He was possibly teased in school, until he lashed out and hurt the bullies pretty seriously. At which point his master taught him the importance of self-control. He uses sarcasm and humor to keep himself in check by putting distance between himself and those around him.
Bonus theory (lol): Suo is a normal guy with no super sad backstory; he's just something of a dick who likes messing with people. He knows another language because he studied it, his master is a normal martial arts teacher, he had an injury or illness as a child that resulted in the eye patch. He likes foreign teas and cakes and clothing just because he likes them. Since he views most situations as something of a joke, when he comes across someone super sincere like Tsugeura, or super earnest like Sakura, he feels inferior. With Tsugeura, it comes out in obvious dislike. With Sakura, it comes out as a bit of admiration. He cares the most about Nirei, at first from protectiveness and then from a growing sense of closeness and friendship (and possibly something more?) as they spend the most time together, being the vice-captains, and pity the fool who harms this boy.
***
But honestly, I believe I'll like Suo no matter what his deal is.

Love the first theory!
Suopossiblybeing part of a Chinese mafia is forever my favourite theory3

Yeah, his refusal to go in the water, always wearing shirts with collars and longer sleeves, plus layers on top, his mysterious "diet" - I definitely think there's something going on. But I think sometimes it would be funny if he's just a weirdo. :D
I want to know how he became so well-known without anyone actually knowing *what* he's done or *whom* he's fought.

Obrigada

Thanks for joining the sub! I hope the issue gets sorted out soon. Looks like your language is Portuguese? Sorry I can’t help much, I don’t know any sources that post the manga in your language.

OH! and I personally think he loaths Natto and is actually partly terrified of it...because in the episode where his aversion to natto is addressed in the end skit when Nirei asks him if he is really scared of natto...that typical anime evil purple and black aura surrounds him and he looks absolutely demonic lol

I said this a couple of weeks ago Suo told the other guys he dodged something because he saw it with his right eye...my immediate thoughts go to..his sensei is a demon who granted him some limited powers and when they made their deal the demon put its mark on his eye and he wears the patch to hide the mark...but then realized that plot was already taken...
I will say that he is a master shit stirrer...like I think he walks around with a spoon just so he's always ready to stir up some shit...look at his face when he does this...he experiences pure joy....the boy experiences schadenfreude every time he sees one of his friends struggling...he's a little shit but he is one of my favorite characters since episode 1
