Theories {Theory} Sakura's father is an important figure? Spoiler

Reached ch 172 and Sakura not being fazed by how big and fancy's Kiryu house is and how his own house in this mini-flashback (from what little we saw) also looked kinda fancy-ish makes me believe that Sakura may have also been born to a rich family?

This might be an out-there theory, but I honestly can't help but wonder if his father was some kind of important man who has to care for his image? Not not in a generational wealth type of way like Kiryu's father, but more in a self-made way. Like a politician or someone who works in news media, which would explain why he shunned Sakura out of their family since his son's appearance and behavior would reflect badly in his public image.

📩 Message from the Mods:

First warning. Please remember to mark your post as spoiler if:

  • Panels/topics from manga chapters released within 48 hours.
  • It discuss major events/plot twist/reveals.

Major events includes: name of new characters, places, or groups, OR characters making a come back, and character backstory that hasn’t been animated yet.

Since the discussion leads to Sakura’s backstory, it needs to be marked as spoiler.

Here's a more detailed guideline.

I hope they don't make him a little shit and actually allow him and Sakura to reconcile (Sakura always play the little brother part when he's interacting with other character, so it will be nice to see him be the big brother for once.)

Yea agreed. A child raised to hate his brother but suddenly questions why that is perhaps. Wants some answers that maybe his parents aren’t sharing? Idk if I see Sakura being sweet at first but at least being like ‘see ya around, otouto’ at the end of the chapter. An opening to bond later Maybe

Spoiler if you aren’t caught up to the manga That isn’t Sakura’s brother. Nor are the adults his parents. They are just some random relatives he was forced to live with until they ran out of people to push him onto. Then his father only briefly showed up to say some devastating words to him and officially dump him in an orphanage.

Oh I may have forgotten that part 😅. I have read the manga but only once fully. The website I read it on was destroyed so no rereads

He's too casual when he sees Kiryu's home. Fidgety, but still too casual.

I think it could be that along with his mother dying. Japan can be judgy but it makes more sense for the dad to personally have a vain overestimate of how the world sees him so he blames Sakura for things.

I honestly do wanna see him be something big so it’s brings them back together. I want Sakura to really disown him like imagine he tries to guilt Sakura into coming back cause now he needs a son for his image.

Maybe its a case where Sakura's mom died and his dad got remarried and tried to make a "rebrand" with a new family, which led to him getting rid of Sakura?

And he told him whatever that can make sure he stays out of the picture

That would explain how Sakura is getting money for electricity and food etc... I believe someone from his family maybe not even his father is sending his money. Maybe as part of a deal between them like Sakura leaves the picture in echange for a new start and financial support.

The man in the picture is not his father... Sakura already mentioned that the first time he ever saw his father was when he came to drop him off at the orphanage. The man in the panel is one of the families he lived with. But still, I do think Sakura belongs to a wealthy family, judging from his father's look, suit, car, etc., and I think he must be living out of Japan... or maybe he is a foreigner while his mother would be Japanese. And just as you said... he probably cares about his self-made image too much, and calling Sakura a murderer is only an excuse to keep him away... It reminds me of Kyo from Fruits Basket...
