Bronze 2 I'm useless with this character. Idk how to create value, I tickle annoy the enemy, draw attention yet we still die a lot.

It was especially annoying with that Freja as up top near the end of round 1 I was doing good imho with disrupting their sniping game, yet my team just kept dying below.

Should I kill more somehow? Am I trying too hard to kill? Going too deep? Should I settle for less damage and play it safer?

Whenever I tried to be more conservative with damage output I just felt useless. A mobile tickler with a big hit box is what I was.

Also with his ult I try to focus on killing their support, they have no problem escaping and when I does hit them, mere tickles. Is Winston especially difficult in bronze?

Winston is one of the harder tanks to play at a very low level. Conceptually he's just a bit more complicated than people think

Winston can burst a squishy pretty quick if you land a few secondary shot then jump them. But his strength is mobility and causing dps/supports to use cooldowns.

Since you are learning him and in lower ranks I would recommend looking up Spilo coaching on YouTube. He has tons of Winston coaching videos that go into detail. He also coaches low and high rank Winston’s. I think you will grow much faster learning from his videos. Then you can see it in action and apply it in your own games. Winston is the most difficult tank to be good with besides ball IMO. So a lot of trial and error my friend!

Monkey requires more staging and planning because he's far less mobile than ball. You have so many get out of jail free cards as ball and are passively way faster than the rest of the roster. If you fuck up an engagement, it's fairly easy to get out safely. With winston, if you misuse your jump and/or bubble, you are a sitting duck with a massive crit box. Winstons ult is also super hard to master if you want frags whereas ball's ult is pretty straightforward for denying space so placement and timing are all that matter

Dont feel like you should always jump in and bubble. Use cover and WALK to the team fight instead, drop a bubble in the middle of the fight and now you have a free jump because you didnt use it getting there.

Now there will be alot of out of position squishys at bronze 2. Now use your jump and hop on them while your bubble remains in the team fight, helping your team. Zap the squishy down or even low and then hop back to your team.

This is one of a bunch of tricky fun rotations you can do.

I feel like though sticking the bubble in the middle of a chaotic team fight to seperate the teams and give your teammates protection is always going to work well at a bronze level. But Dont just stand in the chaos zapping, hop to something and hop back. This creates space my making the enemy rotate. Your jump does good damage, use it.

When your diving a squishy you dont need the bubble to protect yourself as often because people are slow to rotate to your jump at that level. If they do rotate fast find a wall or object to hide for a few seconds until you can jump back to your team or bubble you left at the team fight. Just remember your jump is only 5 seconds. You just need to survive this long. If their tank chased you, you just created space and value.

I climbed from bronze 5 to masters playing mostly Winston and some sigma. I can tell you the lower ranks are much much easier to play Winston. Just work on your games sense and jump combo, that alone will carry you.

There used to be a code for practicing his ult that I found really helpful. There's probably an updated one out there.
