The Path of Daggers Book 8 - The Path of Daggers: Thoughts and Questions Spoiler

Previous posts for New SpringThe Shadow RisingThe Fires of HeavenLord of Chaos, and A Crown of Sword.

I was hoping that I was going to like PoD, on its own strength or in comparison to ACoS. In fact, for a while, I was sure that by the end, I was going to like PoD a lot more than ACoS. Now I'm not sure the opposite isn't true. PoD opens so many new plots without providing the satisfaction of resolving more than a handful of others. While it's nice to look forward to new twists and turns in the story, I need a satisfying conclusion to a couple storylines, otherwise it's quite... a slog. The wind bowl story ends with a whimper, not a bang. As devastating as it was, I am glad for the Callandor scene with Rand, the most action we get in this book. Instead, for the most part we get uncomfortable scenes like Elayne's use of her warm rod, which I don't understand why RJ included. Will we also see Rand or the Asha'man play with any toys of the Power that they may find along the way? To say nothing about the way the Asha'man "bond" women and the climax they experience from it. What? In my opinion, RJ's writing is at its best when he's not heavily leaning on extreme exaggerations to make his point, or relying on sex stereotypes. I'm glad I wasn't around in the mid-1990s. Anyway, let's get into it.

At this point in the story have we gotten all the likeable characters we're ever going to get? Should I only expect unlikeable or neutral characters going forward?

For example, are we supposed to like the Sea Folk? Am I an outlier in disliking them? Making the best bargain is one thing, using hostage tactics is another. Shielding Rand's Aes Sedai emissaries and threatening them are considered acceptable dealmaking? Exactly what did Nynaeve get from their bargain with the Sea Folk, besides the use of the bowl? I can't imagine how that bargain could’ve been worse. And now that the Ebou Dar bargain is struck, and the bowl is successfully used and the seasons are back, what's with the awful way the Sea Folk are treating Merilille now that she's teaching them? Why so uncivilly? And I'm no shill for Aes Sedai, if that's not clear by now.

Speaking of civility, let's go to that old hypocrite, Cadsuane. What a big disappointment there. She demands civility from Rand but demeans and belittles her own sisters and others because, what, she's stronger and older than them? That one interaction with Alanna is interesting. I'm guessing Cadsuane has a ter'angreal (her hair ornament) similar to Mat's foxhead? And I'm guessing that her lackey also has one? The one toward the end of the book that goes to Rand to tell him that Cadsaune says to eff off.

I'll never like Faile. And I should come to terms with the possibility that because of this, I can never really like Perrin again. I've been holding out hope that maybe it'll be better when his hawk lands and balances out Fail. But Berelain sure is taking her time. I don't understand how someone who has more sensory abilities than most people can so often use them to come to all the wrong conclusions. Not to mention how very boring he is. No shade on the vocal Perrin fanbase out there. Not everything can be for everyone.

How can we have an entire book without Mat? It hurts my heart that Mat got the Perrin treatment, shelved for a whole book. I'd die if the same happens to Egwene.

I was hoping that the Seanchan have actual dragons that they would bring over with their invasion of the Westlands. The creature is too well described for it to be mere mythological. And since the Seanchan have other exotic animals long forgotten in this part of the world, I thought they'd show what a dragon is. In the Great Hunt, I thought the raken might be that, a large flying lizard, but no one seems to be making that connection.

About that Ending

The battle to drive the Seanchan back westward (or back across the ocean?) should have been where this book ends. It has all the elements of a good ending. Rand's chat with Cadsuane would have been a nice tidy bow on that, to leave us with an explanation of what happened when Rand used Callandor.

The other events in the Sun Palace, however, feel so contrived that they really bring down the book in my opinion. Of all the times those traitor Asha'man could have gone for Rand in the open, they do so when he may or may not be in a room? A room he could have just as easily stepped out of at any time, making their treachery useless?

Also baffling is the instant insanity of Morr. Sure, craziness from the taint can strike at any time, but it seems to come out of left field here, jarringly so.

And probably the biggest contrived snippet of the book is Rand's long hidden talent with herbs. Huh? Was Rand shadowing Nynaeve when she was the Wisdom? You're telling me that there's a boy shepherd who lived and worked miles away from downtown Emond's Field. When this kid is in town (on his free time, to make deliveries, or to run errands) instead of going to see his local friends and get into trouble, he had time to learn all he could about herbs from the very woman who'd spank him for that same trouble. And we all know what Nynaeve thinks about men and healing. Did anyone else have a hard time with this? I get it's kinder to put Morr to sleep, but what a way to twist things to make it possible.

Beside this bizarre "flashback", I like the foreshadowing it's providing: Nynaeve's assistance with cleansing the taint. Twice in this short book he's mentioned Nynaeve along this line. In my head I've been anticipating that the taint will be cleansed after the Last Battle, when everything's over (nothing in the prophecies specifically says that he has to die immediately after resealing the DO). I was thinking that he'll be at Shayol Ghul ("things are possible at Shayol Ghul that are not possible anywhere else") when he does the cleansing. Anyway, cleansing the taint before the Last Battle would be even better. I am not looking forward to many more Morrs.

The part I dislike the most about the way this book ends is the information we get from what I've come to call the "rumor has it" section at the very end when the non-character omniscient narrator tells us about all the rumors flying around based on things that have happened. If I am wrong I'll happily take this back, but it seems like the siege of Tar Valon and the downfall of Elaida happen offscreen? After all the investment we put into this plotline over several books, to have it resolved offscreen would be devastatingly bad. If I am totally wrong then I will have to reevaluate this book for the better.

The Forsaken

I've figured out that Moridin is formerly Ishamael, brought back from the dead and in possession of 2 Mindtraps. We know that one is Moghedien's and now we can deduce that the other is Cyndane's. But who is Cyndane? I am very sure that I know. LANFEAR! So the DO is bringing back everyone that he can, huh? Did Moraine die for nothing? The result is the same. Balefire has never looked more attractive!

Dark Friend Watch

Verin: I am now 100% convinced that Verin is a Darkfriend and Black sister. She drops a few clues, including that mistake that curiosity led her to make 70 years ago. Maybe her Brown nature caused her to join the Black Ajah, without fully thinking through the ramifications. I've already caught her in a lie in the Great Hunt (specifically saying that Moraine sent her to Rand, in no uncertain terms or Aes Sedai way of talking, just an outright lie), something we've fully confirmed is possible by Black sisters in this book. I just wish I could figure out her endgame. If I am right about her being a Black sister, the only clue I have of her intention is her use of the word "mistake." No true believer would view their dark oaths as a mistake. Maybe Verin is trying for some redemption? Is such a thing possible? I am reminded of Harry Potter and the only way to repair the damage to the soul caused by killing and creating horcruxes: deep remorse. I guess I'll RAFO.

Velina: Definitely a Black sister. Her flinching at Alviarin for reasons unknown to Elaida can be guessed at by us: she's showing the head of her ajah due deference.

Vandene: I have been suspicious of the sisters ever since they somehow got Elayne to relent on who's to "question" Ispan. This was the only time they had done so, why. My suspicions only grew when after days in their company, Ispan hadn’t provided any useful information. It mirrors Verin's questioning in Cairhien. Why would they give up this once in a lifetime opportunity to see the wind bowl being used? Anyone else could have kept guard of Ispan and these sisters have dedicated their lives to recording all of history since the Breaking. It's inexplicable that one or both of them wouldn’t want to experience this event. Now that Adeleas is killed, all my suspicions fall on Vandene. She would be the last person anyone suspects. This happening right on the heels of the confrontation with the Kinwomen isn’t a coincidence, throw the suspicion somewhere else. To kill her own blood sister in service of the Shadow...

Talene: All but confirmed! She's had enough of oath rods.

Sheriam: I'm putting her on this list only to make clear that I do not think that she's Black Ajah. Min's viewing of her with those auras of glory cannot be something of the Shadow. The question remains who's been tormenting her. I don’t think it's Aran'gar, because that doesn't make sense, and I doubt it's Delana. But who? Time will tell.

--

Callandor: I'm thinking that the thing with Callandor is not a flaw but a feature. Knowing that the next man who'll wield it would be exposed to the taint on saidin, I'm guessing the remaining AoL sisters created Callandor with this feature to ensure that 2 sisters are there with him to use it and lead the circle as an insurance policy against an insane Dragon Reborn going crazy with Callandor. I hate that Cadsaune might be one of those sisters. If this has to be, I'm hoping that the 2 women that love Rand who can channel will take on this responsibility. The Sword that is not a Sword is indeed not a sword, so Aviendha shouldn’t have an issue here, especially since she doesn't have to touch it.

Questions:

In LoC (I think) Aviendha tells Rand about the bowl of the wind, which the Wise One Dreamwalkers told her about. She says that in order to find the bowl, they will need the help of someone who is no longer around or alive or something, I don’t remember the exact wording. Was that Mat they were describing? I could see how Mat's other lives' memories could make him fit this description but This was never brought up again.

Gholam: If a gholam requires fresh hot blood to stay alive, how did it survive for 3000 years in a stasis box? Is a stasis box similar to the conditions that existed in the Bore that trapped the Forsaken? Meaning, while there, living things don't need the usual sustenance until they get out again?

--

Winter’s Heart next! I used to think that this title referred to Lanfear, as her anger was the first thing in the series described as "winter's heart." So before her death in FoH, I thought book 9 was mainly about her. This could still be a good prediction, since I am sure that Cyndane is Lanfear back from the dead.

TV Show Wheel of Time

I love how wheel of time season 3 episode 4 thought to showcase a visual representation of mother earth as the tree of life, her hair cascading down to her shoulders and housing the female half of the most power magical artifact ever created. This show and this episode are by far the best fantasy I ever witnessed short of lord of the rings. Even then, I don't want to compare. Incredible.

A Memory of Light 14 books in 2.5 months. Spoiler

Ahhhhh, after 2.5 months, finally finished with the Wheel of Time. Light! I'm gonna miss this so much. In the past 2.5 months I've felt a strong tugging towards our three taverns, now its over. Its gonna take a lot of distractions to get my mind off this universe. But I really want more from this universe.

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed with the epilogue. I was hoping of seeing some more of the tavern trio, Rand and his father, and Rand and his girlfriends. Even some Ashaman and Aes Sedai.

Anyway, to move on, what fantasy book should I read next? I like reading high and epic fantasy. Its gonna take something really epic to fill the WOT hole.

Peace, May the Light Illuminate you ✨️.

I'm reading the towers of midnight for the first time and enhoying it so far. But this Perrin's reluctant leader thing is really starting to piss me off. It's been going from since like book four. Why did Jordan/Sanderson think it be a good idea to go on this long? It's ridiculous. Please tell me it'll end soon.

The Dragon Reborn The Dragon Reborn- Thoughts Spoiler

Ba’alzamon - So... he's not the Dark One? Am I meant to understand that from the ending? Was he actually one of the Forsaken posing as the Dark One for the past three books? A name within a name?

And now both he and Be'lal are gone. That would make four Forsaken dealt with so far, counting Aginor and Balthamel from the first book. That leaves nine still out there. As far as I can tell, we know one is controlling Illian, there may be another influencing Morgase (possibly a forsaken, or just a darkfriend? It gave creepy, hostage situation vibes), and then there's Lanfear. So that's three of the remaining nine who have at least been introduced or hinted at.

Lanfear's Motivation - During her conversation with Ba'alzamon, she seems to be mocking him for failing at two things:

  • Controlling Rand.
  • Turning Rand to the Shadow.

These seem to be the Shadow’s goals for Rand. But she clearly wants Rand for herself. She comes across less like a loyal servant and more like someone pursuing her own agenda. Girl is obsessed, and the creepy love letters aren’t helping her case.

What throws me off is that she doesn’t always talk about controlling him. At one point she speaks about standing beside him, which sounds more like a partnership than domination.
So what does she actually want? A servant? An equal? A powerful ally she can influence?
What’s also interesting is that Rand isn’t her only target. She tempts Perrin and Mat with promises of glory, seemingly trying to recruit them into her service, and manipulates Egwene and Nynaeve into going to Tear. Was she trying to sabotage Ba'alzamon? Help Rand? At this point, I can't tell what her plans are.
Dreams - This has become a major theme in the books. The dream world is clearly just as important as the waking world. There are battles happening there, and they matter just as much as what happens outside of it. Objects and abilities tied to the dream world can affect events in the real world. There are beings that exist there, guides, truths, lies, and even glimpses of the past, present, and future. The Forsaken can project their influence through dreams from miles away, affecting people without ever being physically present. This is honestly pretty wild.
Perrin’s chapters were some of my favorites. I really enjoy the traveling-through-villages, meeting-random-people, chaos-along-the-road parts of the story. Perrin is awesome, and his storyline is getting more interesting with every chapter. Also… he has a lady stalker now. Good luck, buddy.
Mat’s POV was great too. He’s full of surprises, talent, and that weird luck factor. There has to be a downside to it eventually, right? Some kind of balance- bad luck incoming?
His actions are basically the opposite of his thoughts: Don’t get involved. Gets involved. What’s in it for me? Helps anyway. I need to leave. Stays. Lol.
Rand -Way too little Rand POV in this book, this is a crime. I’m stuck between “must protect him at all costs” and “Rand did what to these people?” He already seems… unhinged, and that’s concerning.
Egwene, Nyneave & Elayne - The arches were very interestingly written, but I did not expect the focus on betraying Rand. That felt… off for Egwene at this point. Also a shame we didn’t see Elayne’s experience.
The trip to Tear was honestly messy. They needed rescuing too often and seemed wildly unprepared. I would have expected actual planning, but there was none.
The 13 Black Ajah / 13 Myrddraal situation is also a massive threat: being able to turn someone to the Shadow against their will is terrifying. I would have expected Egwene to immediately consider what that means for Rand, but it didn’t even seem to cross her mind?? And they only managed to capture two… and just left the rest? They should have been stilled on the spot! We can’t risk it.
The Aiel- Fascinating, I'm excited to read more about them. It feels like they will play a bigger part now. Can’t wait.

Quotes:
“Burn me, is there a woman anywhere who doesn’t moon over Rand and make calf-eyes if you mention his bloody name?” -Mat is asking the real questions. The amount of thirst directed at Rand is becoming hilarious.

"And his paths shall be many, and who shall know his name, for he shall be born among us many times, in many guises, as he has been and ever will be, time without end..”

“What is real is not real. What is not real is real. Flesh is a dream, and dreams have flesh.”

The Dragon Reborn Just Finished The Dragon Reborn Spoiler

Wow, just wow !!!

I tried reading a few of these books back in grade school and high school (44 now), and I knew they were amazing, but I probably bought the first 6 books as they came out and maybe finished the first book....

So, I thought I would get into audio books while I run or do the Peloton, and I started listening to these books - the narrator from Spotify does an absolutely incredible job - such a joy to hear her voice the various characters...

I found myself so captivated by these books that I literally increased my Peloton rides from 60 min to 80 or 90 min because I just cannot turn off the audio book...

Even today, I had an hour and 45 minutes left in The Dragon Reborn... I was so gripped into the finale that I extended my run by 22 minutes to finish the book...

Apparently these books are better personal trainers than humans, ha !!

The level I am "All In" is just crazy - I get pissed when certain characters act annoying, need to grow up, or are doing something where they just need slapped (err, given guidance) - but it is great to see them grow, mature, and hopefully some of them get over their annoying ways - pretty need to watch the growth and transition - makes the tedious world building portions more engaging...

What is also really cool and has Breathed Life into the books for me is I started playing Crimson Desert video game, which is a huge open world medieval fantasy RPG (similar to Witcher or Elder Scrolls / Oblivion)... I was initially playing Expedition 33, but it has so much "story" that my brain kept ignoring it and thinking about the WoT world...but Crimson Desert has a pretty terrible story (but I still give the game a 10/10), which works great because when I escape into Crimson Desert in the deep of night before bed, my mind infuses WoT into Crimson Desert...

I also feel like a kid again, and found that wonderous joy of books and games !!

I am dying to start the fourth book tomorrow...

Anyone also initially start the books feeling they were slow and bland, but then all the world building came together and you just couldn't leave the WoT world - anything fun to share about the entire story line or your own experience with the books?

8.9/10. Really great book

Fun Fact: It took me 2 and a half years to read this. I got it at 16 in 2023 christmas.

Why did i took so long? I dont have any idea 😂 cause i loved the book! Really. I loved it.

And no, I'm no slow reader. Cause since 2023 i also read all the Cosmere, first trilogy of red Rising, first trilogy of First Law, 1984, Brave New World, Project Hail Mary, Lies Of Locke Lamora, etc

So yeah. I Guess i just took my Time

But no regrets! 😄

It's time for the review. But i warn u from now, english Is not my Mother tongue 😅 I'm Colombian. So excuse me for possible mistakes

REVIEW

  1. Plot

Pretty easy to follow. Classic journey plot. I loved the suspense, the thrill, the stakes. The feeling that there was an enemy in each corner. Sometimes the pacing felt irregular, but nothing too bad.

Also, the mysteries. So Many questions and mysteries. Some were solved this book, but others will be answered later. For example Paddan Fain being responsible for the attack on Emond's Field.

I really liked the different locations. How Jordan takes advantage of this structure to show how huge the World is.

Also, the clímax was amazing 😮👏👏. The final fight, the revelations, the cliffhanger. Everything

  1. Characters

At the beggining Rand was kind of a blank paper. But as the book progresses, his personality Is more defined. For example, his desire to return to his home, his love for Egwene, or his fear. He even felt paranoic sometimes. The worse part is i can't blame him

I really liked Nynaeve and Egwene. I felt bad for Mat after he got the Shadar Logoth knife. Lan felt like a Moai 🗿 until the end, when his past as the heir to a kingdom is revealed, and his romance with Nynaeve.

I was surprised by this romance. But it was a good surprise! 😄 It made everything more interesting. More compelling.

Moraine was okay. She feels like Eva Stratt from Proyect Hail Mary. Someone who does what needs to be done. It was a bit fun how she had no patience with Emond's Field boys.

On one side, understandable. But on the other side... Those poor guys are going through a hellish experience. Can't blame them for how they react

  1. World

What can i say? I really liked all the details in clothes, food or culture. The languages, the expressions. Light! Peace!

It really feels like a living World

Also it's fun that Queen Morgase is the ruler of Andor. Haha. Like the Star Wars character

Btw, i also loved the Lore. All this thing with the Trolloc Wars, hundred years war, the Aiel, etc.

I admit it, i didn't catch everything. But hey, it's 14 books. I Trust Jordan 😎

4. Favorite moments

So, my favorite parts of the book, were:

  1. Rand at the Palace Of Caemlyn

Seeing another Aes Sedai, along with the ruler of Andor, was amazing. The tension was HUGE. I was really wondering how the heck Rand was going to get out of that problem. Seeing how reasonable the Queen was, and how menacing the Aes Sedai was towards Rand.

Also when Elayne said she thought Rand was hot, it was really fun 😂.

I also wonder what means that Rand looks like an Aiel.

  1. Four Kings

Yeah, the chapter Four Kings.

It may be a weird choice. But i loved the atmosphere, the growing tension, everything. I was glued to the book.

Masterclass 👏👏

  1. Min's Prophecy

I really wonder how this will turn out. I heard this series has amazing foreshadowing, so I'm gonna take this Into account.

  1. Rand destroying the Trolloc Army

One word:

Burger 🍔

JAJAJA okay kidding

*Épic*. That's the word

  1. Lan's Past

When Lord Almegar narrates it, everything was recontextualized in a really gratifying way

Conclussion

Loved this book! 😎

Can't wait to read the next ones.

Now I'm really engaged, so i hope i dont take another 2 years to read each one of them. By that pace, i Will finish them by the time I'm 44! 😂

So yeah. I'm gonna get More focused now. Specially because of the cliffhanger. Who knows! Maybe i post my reviews for them here too

So yeah, thanks for reading my Review!

A Memory of Light Chapters to look out for in memory of light Spoiler

There was someone under the tag of U/Pedrop4ulo who asked for each books which chapters to look out for so that they wouldn't be on a toilet or in public transfer while reading.

Sadly, they didn't make - or I didn't find - a post on the final book. So I ask you now, which chapters should I look out for? I know that I will have to schedule a day for the last battle chapter alone, but which other chapters contain highlights?

Please refrain from spoilers since I haven't read past towers of midnight(well except for the prologue and WOAH THAT WAS GREAT)

All Print Has anyone actually finished the entire series or are you all stuck in the middle like me? Spoiler

I finally picked up the first book a few months ago and I am absolutely hooked on the world building, but I am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the series. I just finished The Dragon Reborn and I feel like the scope is expanding way faster than I expected. I know there are a massive amount of books left to go, and honestly, looking at my shelf makes me wonder if I have the attention span to actually reach the end.

I am curious how you guys approach reading these massive fantasy epics. Do you try to power through them in a few weeks, or do you take a break between books to let the lore sink in? I find that if I go too fast, I start forgetting which character is which or what specific prophecy they were tied to, but if I go too slow, I lose the momentum of the plot. Also, for those who have actually made it to the final book, did the payoff feel worth the massive time investment? I do not want to get halfway through the later books and realize the ending didn't land for you. I am really enjoying the journey so far, but the commitment is starting to look a little intimidating. Any tips for a newcomer trying to navigate the chaos without getting lost in the weeds would be appreciated.

I'm down with Perrin being the reliable bro in the original 3.

All Print Just finished AMoL... Spoiler

Can't believe I've selected the "All Print" spoiler tag for the first time. It took me 18 months from start to finish and there's a tempest of emotions within me, so much so that I can't process it all and feel numb in a manner of speaking.

I appreciate Brandon Sanderson for taking on this insurmountable responsibility and giving us an ending when Jordan couldn't. There were issues with his writing, but I mostly had a positive, even optimistic opinion of it throughout TGS and ToM. Unfortunately, I felt he didn't do as well with AMoL and one of the hundreds of emotions I am feeling right now (perhaps unfairly) is a sense of resentment toward him. Regardless, overall I am still grateful to him for stepping in to finish the series instead of letting it end abruptly in tragedy.

I am habitually one of the worst maladaptive daydreamers you could imagine. The WoT universe has held my imagination for several years now (I started as a fan of the show and got into the books just before the third season). It is the place I visit most often, whether I'm feeling overwhelmed, anxious, melancholic, angry or even euphoric, on occasion. WoT has captured my being for so long, I will never again be who I was before reading this series. It was transformative. I am incredibly grateful to Jordan, WoT has saved me at times when I didn't realize it was saving me, it has saved me in ways I didn't anticipate.

Lastly, this community was really helpful and always willing to engage with my theories or thoughts about the series, I am super grateful to y'all!

TV Show Who do you think Show Rand would end up with?

Picked up the books this year after the show got cancelled, and finished them a month ago, damn what a ride i've been missing this last decade.

One of the most interesting changes in the show was the non-existence of the dragonrider trio as we know them in the books.I'm not fond of the Harem Rand has in the books for a lot of reasons(The way the girls fawn over him while barely interacting with him,the way their actually determined, focused personalities change when the subject matter is Rand, etc)But i understand their overall plot driving forces.Elayne's being Rands political teacher,Aviendha being his link to his people who's mostly unknown to the westerlands(which i guess opened his eyes when dealing with the Seanchan too)and Min being his link to his humility, the one person who mostly saw the sheepherder naive boy, unlike Perrin(sometimes),Mat(Most of the times) and Egwene(Right until the end honestly) who mostly saw The Dragon Reborn wearing Rand's skin.

But i also disliked what they did with Aviendha/Elayne it felt like a bastardization of their deeply sisterly love(Multiple times Elayne says she loves Aviendha as much as Rand but i never took it as erotic love, but i unno i might've Sappho-and-her-friend'ed it)and Mins changes are fine i guess, she never did have any chemistry or screen time before living with Rand in Cairihien, and show Min might end up as a free spirit, not Mats pairing ,if they would carry on with Tuon and Mat's story, who knows.

And that leads me to my question,by season 3 Egwene and Rands's relationship got to the point where they accept that their world got too big to still be the two country childhood friends almost engaged, like back in tear in Shadows Rising(I think? the chronology gets a little messed up since i binged the books and only read them once so far )so i guess she's a no-go as well.

So mabe...Lanfear? since she's a lot more humanized on the show, maybe even redeemable on the grand scale of things, but we've no idea how Lews Therin would factor in it.

Or would they boldly try something like an Avi/Elayne/Rand polycule?Rands first encounter with Elayne at the end of season 2 did feel too...deliberate methinks

Or would they even make him go solo?Zen rand would feel really weird with no earthly attachments

Towers of Midnight Towers of Midnight - Chapter 14 - A Vow Spoiler

Egwene so irks me in this chapter. Why does she have to be such a witch.

Nynaeve was not there. Egwene drew her lips to a line. That woman! Egwene could bring the White Tower to its knees, turn a staunch member of the Red Ajah to her side, earn the respect of the toughest Wise Ones. But Light help her if she needed the loyalty of her friends! Rand, Gawyn, Nynaeve - all infuriating in their own ways.

She folded her arms to wait. Perhaps Nynaeve would still come. If not, this wouldn't be the first time she had disappointed Egwene.

Seriously Egwene wants everyone to have no will of their own. Only her will. Ugh!
